An Interesting Youtube Video

So I found this video as I was watching some vlogbrothers youtube videos. (I literally found this five minutes ago).

As a side note, the vlogbrothers are Hank and John Green. John is a best selling author (Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns) and Hank does a bunch of cool stuff with his time. They're entertaining, I recommend checking out their videos.

It's on the vlogbrothers channel, but is by another author (Maureen Johnson) as she was filling in for John. She gives some interesting perspective on writing that I think we could all benefit from.

What do you guys think about Marueen's advice?

First off

Second off, well, it's true. And I like the advice. I mean, I do suck. Most of this site sucks. And the driving force of that suck is that we are young. Yes there is un-sucky stuff, but even those have the sucky parts in them. We are young writers, none of us are supposed to be experts, and none of us are supposed to be good. And if we expect ourselves to be awesome, and to be perfect, well we fail.

The first step to elminating world suck, is to suck until you rock. It's solid advice. And John Green says it a lot as well on the channel. So, yeah.

Hahaha. Completely true!

I actually watched some videos on Maureen Johnson's own page, and she made a playing card for Alex. I've never read her books, but she seems like a really cool person.

The video just proves it. It 1) makes us feel better and 2) is totally true. We're all pretty terrible at first. And I always feel like I'm never going to get better. But it's funny how the best pep talks aren't the ones about how amazing you are, they're the ones about how awful you are and how that's okay.

But YWS is here so we can all suck together, right?
