The Third Child

In the year 2040, our world was shaken by a series of powerful earthquakes that left our geography completely different. Areas sank, and new ones rose from the oceans. New mountain ranges were created, whilst others were destroyed. Science didn't seem to have an explanation for why things happened the way they did, but it left they world in a state of total chaos.

In 2041, the world was only beginning to recover. There was an alliance forming between some of the most powerful people on earth at the time. They took control of the situation, and control of the world. They managed to somehow make the people believe that this was for the best, and granted religious and cultural freedome.

It wasn't long after the new government was put into place that the earth was once again plagued. This time it was not earthquakes that shook things, but famine and drought as well as overpopulation. The government made a rash decision then. They outlawed third children without warning. All children born to a family with more than two children after January 1st, 2041 were outlawed. They were plucked from their families, some killed, some imprisoned. The law was placed officially on August 7th, 2041. Families were limited to two children, and this law was firmly enforced.

The government deployed a large force of high-ranking men, second to only the government officials themselves, known as the Population Control. Their job is to snuff out any hidden third children and take them captive, question them, and dispose of them as well as whoever was hiding them. Anybody caught without an I.D. are arrested. Too bad there's no way for a third to get an I.D...

The year is now 2059, 18 years after the law was placed. There is a small group of thirds in south that have managed to find eachother, and a way to meet in secret. It's dangerous, and they're risking life and limb to organize rallies, protests, anything to bring back rights to third children. You are either one of them, or one of the Population Control.

The Thirds

You have always been hidden, known nobody but those hiding you. You're restricted to so much, and you're lucky if you've so much as set foot outside or seen out a window. The Population Control is everywhere, and things are getting more dangerous.
One way or another, you have found a way into this little group. You're living life in fear, but you've some how got it in your head that this group could put a stop to things. These are dangerous times for you, and it's not only your life that's in danger, but the lives of those you love.

The Population Control

You are trying to snuff out those thirds. Everybody knows that they're in hiding, but where? Well, that's exactly your job, to find out where. You're the Population Control, figure it out!
Other than your gruesome work, you live pretty good lives. You've got money, power, and access to certain things the commoners don't have. When things get really tough, you're not rationed. You've still got access to everything you ever wanted. You're second to only the government, and you're going to play this little game by your own rules.

No godmodding.

Violence is welcome, especially if you're part of the Population Control.

Romance is wonderful, but yeah... you all know the drill. Keep it to the rating.

If you're an illegal, please don't make your character some fearless hero. You're living in fear. Any moment, one of the Population Control could walk up to your door and kill your entire family. Keep that in mind.

If you're in the Population Control, remember you're not a bunch of softies.

Name: Loren Archer.

Personality: Kind, caring, loving, distant, determined, and fiery, Loren has a fiery temper but is friendly and kind--unless she's angry (which is when her friends is being harmed). Although her temper has a shot fuse, she doesn't lose it often and prefers peace to violence. She doesn't like to fight. She often seems timid and shy.

Strengths: Loren is smart, determined, caring. Basic survival skills, basic camping skills, basic defense skills.

Weaknesses: Dark, confined spaces. If she were to be locked in, say, a cupboard of some kind, she would panic. Badly. Deep water-she is intensely freaked by it. Occasionally lacks self-control. Panics when backed into a corner and tends to overreact on rare occasions, such as confronted with past misdeeds. Can't handle authoritative figures but will try to co-operate if given no other choice. Doesn't think before reacting and is often too harsh on people.

Fears: Small, dark places, Population Control, being caught by Population Control, dying and

Family: Her family was weathly and, even thoguh she was their third child, they still didn't want her. She ran away and joined others like her as soon as she could

Name: Ciaran Blake.

Age (No younger than 20): 21.

Gender: Male.

Appearance:

Personality: Although Ciaran is often cruel, violent and cold-hearted, he's also fiery, distant, determined and full of mercy. He hates to hurt people and has a short, but not very violent temper, which can be fiery. It's best if you don't make him mad--or then again, maybe you can distract him by making him angry. He's not evil at all, prefering kindness to violence when dealing with the Third Children, only turning to violence as a last resort.

Strenghts: He's strong, smart, seductive, tempting and shows mercy on occasion. He dislikes violence and sometimes refuses to harm those he captures.

Weaknesses: Ciaran is easily distracted, has a constant need to be occupied, and he starts getting frantic very quickly when he has nothing to do. He also get bored easily. Dislikes being given orders and having to follow them, especially if said orders are to kill or serverly injure a Third.

Fears: Being a failure, being expendable, losing his job, and possibly his life.

Personality- She keeps to herself when you don't know her, but when you do, she is wild, outgoing and brash. She is doesn't really care what people think of her, it's her life right? She can be sarcastic and quippy at times, may sometimes come across as rude but she usually doesn't mean it. She is just hardened from being in this nightmare since birth.

Strengths: Addison is a fast runner and is quite fit. She has high emotional and pain tolerance.

Weaknesses: She doesn't let people in easy, she is easliy irritated, and has a sensitive stomach.

Fears: Being caught by the Population control. Claustrophobic.

Family: She was taken in at birth by a couple that wasn't able to have children. Her "adoptive" parents have recently died and the Pop Control has caught wind of her being a third child.

Up For Love: Yes.

Other: She has been on the run for a year, was caught for a brief amount of time and imprisoned. Has scars on her back from a lashing she recieved in prison. Has a ring that is from her birthmother that she managed to keep all through prison. (In picture.)

Name: Twitch. She doesn't remember her real name, and everyone just calls her Twitch.

Age (No older than 18): Fifteen.

Gender: Female

Appearance: Red hair that hits her jaw, cut unevenly. Green eyes with a hint of grey, small and slim, normally in black jeans, a bright red short sleeve tee with one big pocket and a hood, and black low tops. Looks slightly feline.

Personality: Sarcastic, slightly cynical, but a good friend, funny, and, if she feels like it, enormously sweet. Typically, just the funny, cynical, lovable techie. That's another thing- she's incredibly smart, and the resident technician. Curious, and has a mind fast as a whip. Easily bribed (often to shut up, or go away) with an interesting bit of technology, or if you hand her a bunch of wires and tell her to have fun. Does know how to defend herself, and is super fast. Loves rock music with a passion, and it's mindblowing what she can make a broken cell phone into, or a TV remote. Give her tech, and in ten minutes to an hour, she'll have made what you need. Seriously.

Strengths: running, incredibly smart, tech things, often points out the important things that go unnoticed, stealthy.

Weaknesses: not that strong, pushy, easily distracted (usually), gets dizzy frequently, a little overconfident.

Fears: snakes, roaches, the government, getting caught, heat. It messes with her tech.

Family: Not that she knows of. Her family is actually very wealthy, with great success and legacy. She was pulled from her family very early on, when she was four, and has been on the run since. However, she considers some gangs her family, as she's stayed with quite a few when she needed shelter.

Other: Is called Twitch because she runs on energy drinks, making her twitchy. Has a robotic cat named Repo, whose blueprints she modified from the CIA. The name is short for 'repossession' which is what she uses Repo for quite frequently. However, Repo is like a pet, and acts like she's half-dog.

Name: Mark Sinquist

Age (No older than 18): 16

Gender: Male

Personality: Mark is sort of unpredictable. He's adventurous and free-spirited, stubborn and enjoys taking risks; so long as they don't include getting caught by the Population Control. He's a thrill-seeker, doesn't know how to hold his tongue and often speaks out-of-turn. He isn't afraid to say just what's on his mind. He is, however, a very loyal friend. If you're on his good side, he will go out of his way to make sure you're happy and safe, even at the extent of his own life. He's very outgoing, and sometimes over-trusting.

Strengths: He's very good at making last-minute desicions and on-the-spot. He's very fast and very sneaky. He knows how to read between the lines and look for loopholes in every situation. He's also a very good climber, not afraid of heights, has a good arm and good aim. He can dodge easily. Loves mind-games.

Weaknesses: Though he's good at running and dodging, he's not much of a fighter. If he can't dodge or block, he's going to be fairly easy to take down. He's not a wimp exactly, he just can't seem to throw a decent punch. He's also overtrusting, which isn't a good thing given the situation.

Fears: Being caught, that his family might move off their acerage and he'll be forced to live indoors, being abandoned

Family: He lies with his parents, grandmother and two older sisters, Lea and May. His family owns an acerage quite far from any towns or cities and the yard is surrounded by trees. Therefore he loves being outdoors as much as possibly.

Other: He has a pet mouse named Skuts. Skuts absolutely adores Mark and is more loyal and obedient than you could ever think a mouse could be.

Personality: Cormen is very sturdy and seemingly sure of himself. He's stubborn, cold and very strict. He keeps his true emotions hidden behind a thick wall and is good at masking his pain. he rarely smailes, but smirks are a constant with him. He can be hard on himself (contrary to popular belief) and others and takes his job maybe too seriously. He's a born leader, and knows what he's doing and how to do it.

Strenghts: He is very strong and quite quick, though not super fast. He can use a gun like it's an extension to his arm and is incredibly accurate. He's also good at hand-to-hand combat. He's a decent tracker and is good at reading people and making them crack under pressure. Mind games are his specialty.

Weaknesses: His left ankle is weak to to a serious break as a child that didn't heal properly. Overusing it can cause him pain, and make him limp though he tries hard to hide it. He tends to keep his true emotions bottled up until he can't take it anymore and blows.

Fears: Failure, being expendable, that he will never be loved

Personality: Amanda is precise and efficient. She doesn't mess around. Amanda will set a goal for herself, and throw all of herself into reaching that goal. She can be blunt and bold during moments that would usually require social tact. She's got a dry sense of humor that often shades her life. People around her get that feeling that Amanda is always playing by her own rules. She's spontaneous, but methodical.

Strengths: Amanda will get the job done very quickly and precisely. She's like a hawk, almost, in that way. For all that she may come across as impatient, Amanda is extraordinarily methodical. She can work at a task for hours at a time without once loosing focus. This quality makes her an excellent tracker.

Weaknesses: Amanda can be very blunt at points. She also has a never ending desire for action. Amanda will get agitated if she is not kept busy. This is mainly because her mind begins to wander when she does not have a specific task. If Amanda allows herself to think about what she does for too long, Amanda will begin to have second thoughts about everything. Amanda draws strength from being able to dive into something, planning as she goes along. When Amanda starts second guessing herself, her plans go awry.

Fears: Amanda's reputation is very important to her. She worries about loosing her reputation if a assignment of hers goes terribly wrong. Amanda also understands that she had made many enemies in her career (mostly friends of the Thirds she has caught). She is worried that someday they might catch up to her.

Personality: Steph will do anything to be safe. She's so afraid that one day she will be caught and her life will be ended before she can really live. She's always jumpy and she cried a lot. But, she thinks that everyone still has some good in them.

Strengths: She's able to keep quite and not move around much. She's able to move quickly. She's a good singer and she's a good fighter.

Weaknesses: She cries a lot, she's jumpy, she thinks everyday is her last one, and when people bring up her past she will thrash out at them and wind up sobbing.

Fears: Everyday is her last, she will be found, they'll do the same thing to her that they did to her little sister, everyone is out to get her.

Family/History: Steph is the third out of four children. She lived with her mother, father, and her three sisters. Once this all started her mother sent Steph and her little sister, Addie, to her friends house. But the woman got in trouble so Steph and Addie fled. She's lived in a bunch of homes but she will always remember the white house with blue shutters.

One day when she came back from looking for a new hiding place, as a just in case, she came inside the house and heard a big crash upstairs where her and her sister stayed. She ran up and the moment she opened the door is when the man flung a knife at her sister, killing her instantly. When he looked to Steph she memorized his face . Black hair, bright blue eyes, and a scar across his left cheek. And then, she ran.

Up For Love: Sure, if you can handle her emotions.

Other: She has a scar on her right arm running from her shoulder to her wrist, and another small one just above her eyebrow on the left side. Both were from near captures.

But... I think it's time to throw a few interesting things in.
We need a "Third" who's actually working for the Population Control, and somebody who's working in the Population Control in order to help the thirds.

Here's my profile. Hopefully this character will count as "throwing interesting things in"

Name: Kennedy

Age: 30-40 (unknown)

Gender: Male

Appearance: Tall, skinny, bald, gaunt.

Personality:
He's a nihilist. He just doesn't care. To say that he has a total lack of empathy and can't tell the difference between right and wrong would be incorrect. He's meditated and thought extensively, and in the place that he's ended up in right and wrong truly don't exist, and it really does not matter what other people feel.

Strengths: Utterly, utterly terrifying. From the way his eyes immediately find the people he wants as he enters a room, to the way he clearly doesn't care who lives and who dies, this guy is scary. He carries a gun, though he prefers to just use whatevers at hand, since it's quicker. He's an expert marksman and hand to hand fighter. Essentially, if he's close to you and wants you to die, you're dead.

Weaknesses: He can't work with other people. He does everything by himself, has no support team, no information network etc. He honestly doesn't care. He just follows orders from above, and if somehow a message from the Thirds came disguised as a message from above, he'd carry it out immediately. His main weakness is he is also not only concerned with Population Control. He is also 'involved' with several other departments, and therefore isn't on the ground most of the time.

Fears: None known. He doesn't care whether he lives or dies, why would he have any fears?

Rank: Overseer. He's the guy the government has placed inside the Population Control department to make sure things get done. He's not part of the command chain as such, and is more like the whip at their heels. His role is to sort out things that have get messy, and he'll do it in his own violent, mechanical style. He is one of the very few people, if not the only person, that the other Population Control Officials as well as Thirds should be terrified of.

Up for love: Well quite obviously not. Though there is a human side to him. Somewhere.

Other: Meditating is the only thing he enjoys whatsoever.

Name: Aaron

Age (No older than 18): 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Dark brown hair that falls over his eyes. He looks like he's Emo but he's not.

Personality: He's charismatic but serious. He sets his mind to something and can go straight to that goal but he can sometimes not be considering others feelings.

Strengths: Good reflexes and very strategic.

Weaknesses: Bad aim and he's not too quick.

Fears: He doesn't like anything that's poisonous and he doesn't like heights.

Family: His parents who were planning on giving him up. His Sister is 2 and his brother is 7.

Personality: Riley is a people pleaser but not a pushover. He caves in whenever people ask anything from him and is unable to say no. He is very strong and people always get the wrong idea when they see him, He's a bit of a recluse, he is very self conscious and tries not to bring attention to himself.

Strengths: Thinks of other before himself, Is quite strong, Very sensitive.

Weaknesses: He doesn't like fights or bloodshed, he is very weak towards emotions, he hates for people to cry in front of him and because of that he is often manipulated, sometimes he feels like he should hand himself over to the population control.

Fears: Spiders, Hurting people, Losing his life.

Family: Riley came from an average family who loved him and wanted the best for him, they were devastated that he was a third child and helped hide him from the population control. When the population control started to terrorize his family he ran way from home.
