Rosella

The fairy was timid, it was understood. Rosella was huge compared to her, and fairies weren't known for being very trusting. "I am a dragon, noble, and true to my word. I will not harm you." Rosella looked at the fairy with a kind smile. The fairy had stopped backing away, that was a good sign for what hopefully would be a friendship.

"If you don't want to hurt me, why are you talking to me?" The dragon chuckled. "If I wanted to hurt you I would have snapped my jaws around you before you'd noticed," she said jokingly. The fairy didn't seem as amused and leaned backwards ever so slightly. "But I didn't, it gets awful lonely in this forest. Everything's afraid that you're going to eat them, or if you're human they all run for the hills screaming."

The fairy nodded in understanding. "Yeah." Rosella chuckled. "Is there any way that I can convince you I'm not harmful?"
All I can hear; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". Even those tears; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". No one's frightened of playing it. Everyone's saying it. Flowing more freely than wine. All through your life; "I me mine".

I forgot to mention: in all of Nightfall's cat forms, any markings that she has are a gold-ish color :)

Nightfall

I prowled through the trees, an incredibly irritated lioness, growling quietly. There was no prey anywhere. I had been searching for hours and hours on end, but everything was gone. Perfect. This only meant one thing. I would have to go buy something.

I ran towards the edge of the forest, to the walls of the town. When I reached it, I morphed back into my hybrid form and put my hood up. It didn't disguise my ears completely, but it helped a little.

I headed straight for the inn, where I knew I would be able to find some roaring drunken idiot and take his money. Sure enough, there were plenty. I easily cut a bag of coins off of a man's belt and headed towards the butcher shop. I walked inside quietly and approached the counter, yellow and green eyes darting around suspiciously. The butcher was the only person in the whole town that knew me by name, but that never meant I could let my guard down, even in here.

"Ah, Nightfall," he called as I walked up. My eyes snapped to his face and they narrowed ever so slightly. How he still managed to act cheerfully towards me, I never knew. "The usual?" He asked.

I nodded. "Same as always, Sam."

He nodded and turned around. He walked towards the back of the shop and took an enormous ham off of a hook. I dropped a few coins on the counter as he set it down. Almost immediately as he did so, I picked it up and left without a word.

"See you again!" He shouted behind me. Reluctantly, I gave a short wave as I walked out the door.

My paced quickened as I ran for the forest, until I was jogging. Just as I was about to run out the gates, I was knocked off balance by another person who seemed to be in a hurry to leave town. The meat was ripped from my hands and I let out a startled and pained roar when we made contact. We both went flying away from each other by the force of the impact. Thankfully, though, I landed with my face toward the ground, and my hood stayed up. I looked up quickly to see who had hit me.

A girl, with hair nearly the shade of my own, was trying to get to her feet. Several guards were chasing her. She turned and looked at me, and her face had a look of urgency on it. I growled with annoyance and grabbed the ham. I then ran over to her, grabbed her wrist, and raced towards the trees, propelling her along only until she could stay on her own feet and run by herself. It wasn't until I had gotten closer to her that I realized she wasn't human - she was an elf.

"Well," I said to her, already a little out of breath, "you're not human, so that makes this a little easier on me." I spat out the word 'human' with a vengeance.

"No," she replied, also sounding a little tired, "but that must mean you aren't either. What are you?"

My black lips parted into a sinister smile. "Not sure," I answered. "I wonder about that myself sometimes."

I continued pulling her along until we reached the cover of the trees. I dropped her on a patch of grass and walked over to a pine tree to catch my breath. No way would those idiot guards see us under the darkness.

"Who are you?" I asked between gasps of air.

Zaelia

I gulped in air (blast it, guards are fast) and said, "Zaelia. My name's Zaelia. You?"

"Nightfall."

"Ah." It wasn't a name I was used to; elf names are very exotic. I suppose where she came from, names are literal. Either way, I liked the name. I leaned back against a tree trunk and reached into my bag and grabbed the few coins I had swiped from a guard. Fast, they may be, but I was quick. Big difference. I counted them out- five coppers, two silvers, and one gold. Enough to keep me going for a few days, if I was lucky.

"Blast it." I mumbled.

"What?" Nightfall asked.

"Not enough money to keep me going for very long. I'll have to pick up a few odd jobs at the next town." I explained, retying the strip of red satin. It had been a part of a fancy dress of mine back in the village. I tightened my bodice (can't run with a corset flying open, trust me) and straightened out my skirt.

As I braided my hair (lesson of the day: hair out of place means you're flat on your face), I thought back on the information I had gotten. Not much, and what I did, I already knew, but there were some variations.

Variations that might explain why arson was committed on my only home.

For some odd reason, that doesn't really help. I might just be going crazy, though. Is that it? Nothing really big has happened???

Well the person I'm talking to only posted twice, and that's pretty much the same for everyone else as far as I can tell. Correct me if I'm wrong, but nothing has happened. I'm not even sure five minutes has passed in this.

Name: Prince Enyalius (I pronounce this en-yar-lee-us)

Gender: Male

Kind of Creature: Half-human, half-elven

Personality: Brought up to be cold and calculating, Enyalius has perfected the art of deception. He lies almost compulsively and is a talented actor, so much so that he struggles to draw the line between real life and his illusions. To him, there is no morally grey ground, and he tends to see only in black and white, or good and evil, with nothing in between. He's logical and manipulative, and is usually unemotional, but he can cry, scream, laugh or argue when he feels it will further his ambitions. All of this has led to a lonely lifestyle of superiority and inferiority, with no close friends; however, when he's on stage, he's been known to reduce people to tears, with laughter or sadness. Some go so far as to pledge to support him if he will seize his father's throne, but he's yet to express an interest in doing so, or outline his views on the non-human inhabitants of his lands.

Appearance: He looks somewhat younger than this picture below, and minus the awful jacket! Enyalius has elven features, particularly their height and slim build, and those close to him have noticed that he has hardly aged in twenty years. His appearance on stage - a forty-something man who looks barely twenty - are dismissed as make-up miracles. His mother's identity was never released, and he only vaguely remembers meeting her [AN: please, no random discoveries of his mother or another sibling or something]. The public's never been told that he's not all human, either.

Up for Love: As far as I'm concerned, sure, but it'd be very OOC so it'll have to be an effort!

Other: Enyalius is crazy prepared, and quick-thinking. To be honest, nobody's quite sure whose side he's on, and as a result, trusting him is a step too far for most.

((As this seems to need an adrenaline hit, I'll see if I can set something in motion in my first post. Maybe bring everyone together.))

I am so sorry it's this long! I was just trying to get us going. Please take the time to read and hopefully we can go from here... I'll edit if it's not what you had in mind, Fox.

Enyalius

The gates of hell opened and sucked Enyalius in without a second thought. Before him, on a throne of polished quartz, sat Hades, and he was ready to pass judgement.

"King Gryk." Enyalius bowed deliberately too low, with a flourish of the actor's cloak which his father had for so long forbidden him to wear. Now it flowed behind him, cascading like a waterfall towards the floor.

"Enyalius, do not dare to bring the half-smile of the theatre into my presence. It remains outside, with the mongrels and vagabonds who deign to wear it on their faces." Gryk smiled toothily and for once, looked his age; like Enyalius himself, Gryk had "worn surprisingly well". Few knew the truth about his meddling in magic, and those who did attributed a similar technique to Enyalius. Only father and son could hear the music of elven blood as it pulsed through Enyalius' body.

A knight coughed suddenly and the king shuddered, then glared, threateningly, in the knight's direction. Enyalius decided to intervene before his father's rage could develop.

"Have you called me here for a reason, or shall I return to my adoring fans? They're calling for me out there, Father. I amaze them," Enyalius crowed. Gryk scowled and the prince nearly giggled with excitement. He enjoyed toying with the king. It was far too easy.

"If you want me to explain myself to you, Enyalius, you'll leave disappointed. I merely wished to give you notice that I expect all the fey folk within an hour's walk of this palace to gather at The Highwayman's Lodge before the sun sets tomorrow. By my timekeeping, that gives them this afternoon, tonight, and all day tomorrow. Plenty of time to arrive, I'm sure."

The king spoke softly, and with more menace than Enyalius had ever heard. He knew that The Highwayman's Lodge was a frequent of the palace guard, and the innkeeper would have only agreed to house non-humans at a price, some of which would be paid in gold. Enyalius imagined that the rest would be paid in blood.

"Thank you, Father, for letting me in on your little scheme, but I fail to see the point. I don't mind what you do to faeries. I've not been outside the palace long enough to meet any more than the stuttering shape-changer down in the library, and he died three years ago. Enlighten me, if you will."

There were only a few reasons that Enyalius had come up with for Gryk's revelation. One was that he was simply arrogant, which was always plausible. Another was the attempt to get Enyalius on his side. The third was unthinkable.

"I believe you know why I told you, Enyalius. Let me reiterate: if any inhumans are found in the area outside the palace after sunset tomorrow, they will be executed immediately, without trial or mercy. That goes for anyone who's just the slightest bit... alien. A half-rotten apple is still inedible, is it not, Enyalius?"

Now the king was practically laughing at him, and Enyalius stood, stock still, assessing his choices. It took him only seconds, with an expression wrought of iron, to decide.

Run.

That's okay. It's a good post. Since the prince is half elven, then I'm sure anyone can see that his mother was elven. She died though. Just thought I'd make that clear to everyone. I don't want this SB to end for a while, I'd like to continue this even after the event with the whole evil king thing happens.

Are there any questions??? If not, then we shall continue!

No, only the people inside the castle, but word spreads fast.

Cassie

I skipped through the woods, looking for something to do. It wasn't long before I came across a little pixie. I looked at it, my eyes wide, holding up my hand. It landed in my palm.

"Hello, little pixie. What's your name?" I asked.

"Crystal." the pixie replied with a high voice.

"Well I'm Cassie. It's nice to meet you." The little pixie in my palm curtsied, and I giggled again.

"Can you help me?" Crystal asked.

"Of course. What do you need help with?"

"I need to warn all the creatures. Something evil is coming. The king plans on getting rid of us all, or else he'll kill us!" I gasped. "We all need to evacuate, before it's too late."

I ran as fast as I could to tell whoever I saw. I loved all the creatures here in my fantasy world, and I didn't want any of them to be hurt. As I ran through the woods, I thought about what the little pixie had said. She said that the king was plotting this. I was completely shocked. The king had always been a nice man...or so I thought.
