Rip this part to shreds, too. I promise it won't hurt my feelings :) And I need to know if the ending is okay because I liked it but I'm not sure if it works right. Part one is here: topic65928.html

~peanut~

There is a gun and a knife in front of them. They lay spread out on the grass, gleaming in the light from the two flash lights that are gripped tightly in Rae and Ember’s hands. They are not allowed to break these, Jackson’s orders.
Rae has a watch, a digital one with a green back-light. Ember can see it glowing on her wrist, the digits flashing 12:34. It is time to go. The family should be asleep by now, the drunken boy should still be hung over and the baby shouldn’t cry for a few more hours. Ember looks toward the house and wonders why Jackson has to get them to do his dirty work.
“So we go in through that side window,” Rae explains picking the knife off the ground and wiping it on her shirt. She polishes it until it shines then holds it, white knuckled, in her left hand. She is ready to go but Ember is not. She eyes the gun that still lies on the ground. “Should be easy enough to break, just pound it with the gun a few times,” she is so nonchalant about all of this. But of course she isn’t the one about to go shoot an entire family.
“I need to smoke first.” Ember says, nudging the gun with her foot. She doesn’t want to pick it up, let alone use it but she has to. Rae shrugs and looks back toward the house, clicking off her flashlight. The rubber button sticks and she curses. Looks like it’s gonna have to stay on. Ember smiles to herself as she lights her cigarette, it would suck if some one woke up; Rae would be hard to miss. Slowly the ash falls until there is nothing but a stub of Ember’s cigarette. She drops into on the ground and grinds it into the grass with the toe of her shoe.
“Finally. Jeez, Em, I don’t think I’ve ever seen some one take so long to smoke.” Rae teases. She picks up the gun and hands it to Ember, who reluctantly takes it. It is heavy, her fingers wrap around it and she has to try hard to hold it up. She lets it dangle by her side; she’ll have plenty of time to hold it up once they are in.
Rae leads the way to the house. The window she pointed out earlier is about three feet from the ground. Through the dark glass they can see the lay out of a living room when they shine in their flash lights. It is cluttered with boxes and junk. Knickknacks fill shelves on both sides of the television that is old fashioned and tiny. They will have to be careful not to bump into anything or move anything or it will wake up every one.
But Rae doesn’t seem as concerned with being quiet. She asks to see Ember’s gun. Ember hands it to her slowly, afraid she is going to shoot through the glass and ruin everything before it even starts. Rae lifts the gun to the middle of the window, the handle pointed toward the glass instead of the barrel. The metal connects with the pane of glass and it spider webs. She has to hit it twice before it breaks.
When it shatters, Ember clicks off her light, sure that that was enough to wake up the whole house. But no one makes a sound inside. Rae hands Ember the gun back and shines her light into the living room, it’s not like she could have shut it off anyway.
“We’re in,” Rae whispers, breaking off some of the glass with her flashlight making the hole big enough for us to squeeze though. “I’ll take the parents. You stay down stairs and get the kids.”
Rae climbs in first. Ember can see her light traveling up the stairs on the other side of the living room by the time her feet touch down on the hardwood flooring. She weaves through the boxes and around a table situated in the middle of the floor. It looks like they are about to move or just moved in.
There is a hall way leading back away from the living room. That’s the first place Ember looks for the children’s rooms. On the left her light shines on metal letters spelling out the name Kyle on the white door. She assumes this is the drunken boy who stumbled home last night. She bets his girlfriend was pissed that he let her step in glass.
With the gun in her right hand she reaches with her left to open the door. It is surprisingly bright in his room. The computer screen spills blue light onto the floor. That combined with the yellow light of the flashlight lets Ember see what she is doing. She can see everything perfectly. She can see what she is about to do and who she is doing it too. She can see the pictures on the wall of what she is taking away and of what he is going to miss.
But she knows that if she doesn’t do this Jackson will throw her out. He won’t give her money for her smokes anymore. She will be alone and without one of the few things she loves. The gun raises and she shuts her eyes, praying that this will kill him fast.
When she opens them she regrets it. Tears flood to her eyes as the blood stained boy lies motionless on the bed, like he’s asleep almost.
“Good work,” Rae says proudly from the door way. “The other one’s across the hallway, better hurry before he wakes up. Because he will wake up if you don’t do something about it. The parents were a piece of cake, if you were wondering.” Ember turns and walks out of the room. She doesn’t want to hear Rae’s happy voice, bragging about something that she shouldn’t be proud of.
The little boy is in a crib. He’s too old for it but Ember guesses he isn’t ready to be in a big boy bed. She also guesses that he never will be. But he doesn’t have to die, she knows that. She knows that letting her kill his brother and Rae being able to kill his parents were two of God’s mistakes.
Giving her this gun was another. Another was making it so easy to make people suffer. But I won’t have to suffer, Ember thinks, because God’s last mistake was making it so simple to end everything.
Behind her Rae is silent.
There is a light in you, a Vision in the making with sorrow enough to extinguish the stars. I can help you.

Hallo! :} I am Aushy, and I came to review something I didn't read the first part of.

*guilt trip*

Okay.

“We’re in,” Rae whispers, breaking off some of the glass with her flashlight making the hole big enough for us to squeeze though. “I’ll take the parents. You stay down stairs and get the kids.”

You mean, them? x[}

I'm sure there was something else, but I can't find it right now. D:

Anyway, very good job! I liked how you ended it, how it went along, and the suspense! Ahh, I didn't think she'd kill him. It depresses me that she did.

Overall, I think it was pretty amazing!

PM me, post something on my Wall/Guestbook (what DO you call that anymore), or come to my tropical shack by clicking 'Reviews' when more comes out or you're ever in need of a review again. You shall already be up on the board in there because of this review, so, feel welcome. :}

And don't forget--when people don't review it, it usually means it's so good they can't find any nitpicks. :[}

Keep writing!

Love & Blessings,
Aushy

Hiya! I'm here, and I totally read part 1 too! ;D

First off, the idea of killing people frightens me. o_O I'm not even sure why they do it; I've no idea. xD But okay! We're killing people!

One thing that really stood out to me was Ember, the newb at shooting a gun. You may or may not have shot a gun before, but the first time can be very shocking! And it also depends on the gun as to how big of an impact it can have on the person's hand. Basically, Ember isn't just going to shoot a gun and not notice it. xD Definitely not. And unless she's extremely close, chances of hitting the target are not great. And another tidbit, there are proper ways to hold a gun, and also, Ember's grip may not be steady if she's busy questioning her motives in all this.

In the end, the "God's mistakes" thing is abrupt. It makes sense! It really does! But it would be really cool if you mentioned God and mistakes earlier on in the story, that way the ending is like wrapping it all up into one gift. The bow on top, so to speak!

And also, I thought Ember turned around and shot Rae. XD Not sure if that's right now since Aushy says Ember shot the kid! Ahh! (And also, remember the gun thing I mentioned earlier. Chances are, if she's not eager about killing kids, she's definitely not eager in shooting a gun the second time.)

Rae said she killed the parents, but I didn't hear any screaming? xD Maybe she's just that skilled.

Overall, I suggest maybe getting into Ember's head more. Once in a while, we briefly mention how Ember's feeling about the situation, but I think we need to understand more how she feels. Since killing kids is her first time, there's going to be a lot of self-evaluation going on, by the sounds of it. Look into that a bit more and maybe even answer some questions about their backgrounds (i.e. Why are they killing people?)

Hope I helped! I didn't do a grammar check since that can easily make this longer, and I'm initially lazy. xD But if you want, I can easily come back and do a grammar check for you. :D

Keep writing!

Hello, My name is Alice/Cirque and as promised I am here to review something for you. Ha, that rhymes. I just want to warn, I'm kind of new and so if my review isn't to great well it isn't my fault.

Terminology-

Bold: Word/s not needed.
Red: Grammar and Spelling mistakes
Green: General Comment
Blue: Suggestions.

Alright, so I just want to mention this really had suspense. I was really caught when I started reading, the title though...I thought you were supposed to place it into the thread. Maybe it's there and I just haven't noticed it...Oh, wait there it is. It's not very thrilling if you ask me, it just makes me shrug. I wouldn't have probably read this if I had just seen that title. And, I would've missed out on such an awesome read! So please, change the title somehow. It doesn't really fit.

One thing I do have to be negative about is your tense work. It seems like you're trying to work through two. The third and the first. What I would reccomend is that you stick with one and keep it, otherwise it feels as if you're telling us what happened not showing. The paragraph is a great example. I was really to muddled to actually know what was happening.

Rae leads the way to the house. The window she pointed out earlier is about three feet from the ground. Through the dark glass, they can see the lay out of a living room when they shine in their flash lights. It is cluttered with boxes and junk, knickknacks fill shelves on both sides of the olden fashioned television that is old fashioned and tiny. They will have to be careful not to bump or move into anything or move anything or it will wake up every one.

Your grammar; was brilliant! Awesome, great...just bullseye. Though, I did come across some problems and you'll see them all above. Funnily enough, it was all in the same paragraph. When you were trying to explain stuff, I thought you used a wee to much adjectives and it often threw me off of the real cause. In the end, all I could see was my TV and I guess that is pretty old. I fixed it, though before you had to many fullstops for on single paragraph. As you'll see in red, comma have replaced the fullstops.

Overall, this was a great story. I really loved your characters and the way you explained the context of the text. To me, I could really come back and read the aditions. I hope that my review helped...and explains something.

I’m baaaack. Hehe!

Knickknacks fill shelves on both sides of the television that is old fashioned and tiny.

This sentence really buggers me for some reason. I think it would sound better if you wrote it:
Knickknacks fill the shelves on both sides of the small, old fashioned television.
I think it just felt very bogged down the way you wrote it.

They will have to be careful not to bump into anything or move anything or it will wake up every one.

This one actually feels the same as the first one but I think that’s because of the close repetition of ‘anything or.’ Why don’t you try:
They will have to be careful not to bump or move anything. The slightest noise could wake everyone.
Of course, it’s only a suggestion.

There is a hall way leading back

Hallway is one word. Silly goose!

I like this story. I like the way you put this all together in such a mature tone. It doesn’t sound forced. It sounds oddly relatable. Maybe I watch too much CSI?
The only thing I’m still left wondering about is why Jackson would want them to kill this family. Why them? What makes him want to kill them? You don’t always have to answer every question, but this one seems like one that you should have answered.

The last thing that I want to mention is that the ending seems very vague but I like that you left it up to interpretation. For some reason, I assumed she was going to kill herself but I’m pretty sure she killed the boy. I think. *ponders*

What this sort of reminds me of, vaguely, is the novel “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote. It’s a great story if you ever get a chance to read it.

But thanks for entering the contest, beanut! Many thanks for it!
