Hello :D

To start with I have looked at this site quite a lot over the past few weeks but never got round to actually joining it, but now I have :)

Um where to start....well I live in England and I'm a university student in Suffolk studying for a Film and Media Degree. I have been writing for many years now but have never really had much confidence in what I was writing - which is why I am here - to learn and hopefully get better :D I did study English language and literature at sixth form but alas my grammar is terrible, I'm hoping that you guys might be able to help me out with that :P

My favourite author would have to be Edith Warton or Augusten Burroughs (Verrrrry different I know!) they both use description so well without it overwhelming too much which is something I really need to work on!

Anywho, I look forward to talking to you all and reading lot's of things...away I go!

Hey Jesse!

Hm... wait! Are you working on traditional stuff (like novels) or scripts for your awesome films? Because if it's for the latter, you can totally do some camera tricks to enhance the description. :)

Nice to meet you (finally)! :D

Hihi

I work on more traditional stuff, wish I could say that I write scripts but heh I really can't get the hang of it :( Oh and I wish I was making awesome films but my tutor at uni seems to have a thing for documentaries so I'm stuck filming cows in a field rather than creating something more exciting booo.

Nice to meet you too :D

But! But! Cows are awesome! :)

Also, you will be (un)interested to know this, but the cows in England look startingly different from the cows in California (which is where I live). Your cows are more woolly and ours are more short-haired... if that makes sense. It's a bit bizarre!

Still! Stick with it. Do you have any movies that you're just dying to shoot? :)

Haha must say I have never come across a wolly cow before! Have to admit they scare me a bit as when I was a kid I went with my Dad to go see the cows in a field near our house and one of them tried to eat my hair :(

Nothing that's new and original that I want to shoot, but would really love to re-make The Return To Oz - that film terrified me as a kid would be great if it was made again now with all the cool effects we could use.

Welcome to YWS Jessedrop!

Film is so cool, even if you are only filming (un)woolly cows. That's unfortunate that one tried to eat your hair. I used to go with my parents to see cows in a field by my house, but I never had such an interesting experience with them. They just ate normal old grass. :P

Do you write fiction or poetry? What genre?

Welcome again!

Well the story goes that I was bending down to pick grass to feed the cow and It might be that I have blonde hair (thought It was straw or something :S ) and it just started trying to eat it :( but enough of my childhood trauma!

I mainly write fiction but I have dabbled in poetry, I don't really have the knack for it so just do fiction now. I like writing historical pieces the most as I'm a bit of a geek and love doing my research :D

The guy in your Avatar is hot... :smt081 Sorry, I just thought that I'd mention that...

Anyway! Heya jessedrop!

Welcome to The Young Writer's Society! *Dramatic music* I am very confident in saying that you are bound to make some great friends here and your writing, of course, will improve an awful lot! It definitely has for me since joining the site. If you ever have any questions about YWS or if you want to know where something is, just send me a private message and ask me for help. Even if you simply want a chat, just contact me. :) I like it when people talk to me... I feel special.

You said that you're studying Media and film? My two favourite things! I'd love to be a film director when I'm older, although I'm pretty sure that I'd do a bad job. Mind you, I am fourteen at the moment so I've still got a few years to improve. Because you are studying film and Media, you are officially cool. You are also cool because you're studying them in Suffolk; one of my best friends live there, so woop!

I'm not going to make this long, it would annoy both you and me. As for your grammar, it seems pretty good as far as I can tell. It will be even better after spending some time on this site, I'm sure. My grammar was terrible before joining...

So yeah... Welcome to YWS!

xoxo Skins
I didn't know what to put here so I put this.

Hey Jesse. Well, welcome to YWS. Mine welcome might seem like others' but I had to welcome.

So some others might have asked it but what exactly you prefer to write and read.
Film making sounds way too interesting and it would surely be a lovely experience I guess.

As for the grammar and writing, believe me it would improve, but you just have to keep on writiting, the only thing for getting better. You can compare my earlier posts and the new posts, they have improved a lot.

You should also review others' pieces as it improves our grammar, and writing also.

Signing off with the hope of seeing you around! :D
