I awoke abruptly. Cold sweat ran down my arms and every hair on my back stood on end. Some thing was wrong, something had change. There could be only one thing that would get me in such a state: they had been taken. I immediately regretted having an early night. After months and months of surveillance, espionage, and, with most difficulty, staying out of trouble I had failed my task because of the plain teenage instinct inside me, to sleep. There was no time to lose. The other's are O.K., but they lack a strategic plan, the're impulsive, the last thing you need in a war against the Special Ops. Because, if the intel I just received is correct, that is who we're up against. Even though that info isn't exactly what I was hoping, as it obviously means the others have kicked up a fuss, it has given my something that I had been after for weeks, exact co-ordinates of the base on the island. I rolled out of bed and threw on my combat suit and felt for my twin Katana's. Even though I was strong, a weapon always made me feel safer. As I grabbed my sunny G's and a cereal bar, I open the balcony doors. It was time to fly baby.

A brief and easy walk through the trees brought them to a natural crevice in the land, just wide and deep enough to accomodate a small lean to. The wood taken from dead trees was stacked carefully and made air-tight by the moss and plants growing over it.
"We're ho-oooooome," Trudy trilled happily.
"It looks... lovely," Nicky said with a slight grimace. "But how long have you lived here!"
"Question is, how long will you be living here?" Trudy giggled at Claude and rolled her eyes.
"Oh I think it's been... three years?" Ermintrude kept her tone light but she knew how long it had been. How long since their last home had been invaded and destroyed by the bad man. Not that Trudy thought he was a bad man. That was Claude's words. Trudy thought he seemed... interesting. "Come inside, you can share my room!"
"Only sometimes, remember Tru." Claude looked resigned but not very happy about it. Ermintrude gave him a devilish grin and then slid down the side of the ravine. She dusted herself off quite happily and lifted a curtain of moss away from the door. That had been her work. It had started off pink but Claude had said that wasn't very camoflagued so now it was mossy instead.
Inside, there were just three rooms if they could be called that. Wooden planks seperated the sections and though Trudy had agreed to decorate, she'd refused to put her gift to use in the actual building. You didn't create dens, silly. You built them. "This is where we cook things," Trudy gave Nikki a smile.
"All this... where did all this stuff come from?" Nikki gazed around, clearly not understanding what metal pots or bead curtains were doing in a wooden lean to. Claude grew a knife out of his knuckle and smirked, doing a cutting motion:
"I hunt and steal." He then threw the knife, just missing her ear. Nikki looked very worried and decided not to say anything else. Trudi didn't seem to notice.
"And over here is my room but when it gets cold, we can sleep with Claude."
"We'll see."
Suddenly Tru went quiet and tipped her head to one side thoughtfully. "He isn't going to be very happy that they got away," she said.
"What him? I could have killed him before I wiped out the asshole army."
"Oh but he's different," Tru said, a cryptic little smile tugging at her lips.
Oh god, this will be fun... think Nikki think! How will you get yourself out of this? I looked up at Trudy, she seemed happy with her new 'pet' as they called me, i didn't mind, i thought it was kind of cute. But that question lingered in the back of my mind. Question is, how long will you be living here? I looked up, to see that Claude was staring at me. "What are you thinking about?" he asked. PSHH if he thought he was getting in my head he was wrong. "Um... nothing." I looked away, Trudy had a are-you-stupid? look on her face. He got right up in my face, it took me everything not to freak out, he was truly intimidating. "Tell me what your thinking about." A strange force pushed me to answer. "I don't want to die!"
"Even in the end --even in death-- I can't hate you." - Neri Hereford's last words.
"The Gods demand blood, for they... do not bleed." Jaska.
Well, we were out. What now? There wasn't really anywhere to go, nowhere safe at least. The G.O's would more than likely be crawling around everywhere. I grinned my tigery grin. I could rip them to shreds if I had to. Dodge the bullets and everything would work out nicely. Snap a few necks, rip a few faces off.
I eyed the area, trying to figure out just what to do. I looked up at Raine expectingly. Hopefully she had some idea of what to do, 'cause I had nothing. My only plan was to tear apart any G.O. that got within spitting distance of me. Tear them to shreds and drink their blood and goble up their insides. Every tiger's dream. I growled in frustration. This was absolutely hopeless.
We continued down the right hallway, which we had taken a while back. So far, we were getting no where. The place had seemed to be empty. Every hallway we came on, we ended up going straight, but then again every hallway looked the same, blank, dull and white. I could see why they made it look like this, so if anyone ever got out, they would get lost in this huge maze of a building.
Suddenly I saw Dust’s head turn back at me, I knew that meant he had no idea what to do, and the thing was, neither did it, but I would be danged if I wandered around here all day. This was not the only problem either, after all, I could not change into anything while I had no food in me. I assumed that his shifting ability was different than mine, but I had no idea when he reached his limit.
Plus, if we ran into the G.O.’s, we would be in trouble. I knew that Dust could fight, but even if he could, I wouldn't be able to do much. Sighing, I noticed that we passed a hallway. Stopping in mid step, I turned and faced a left hallway. I stood there for a second staring at it. Something inside of me was telling me to go this way and I guess that you could call it instinct. By then Dust had stopped moving forward and came to look at the hallway and me.
“Let’s go down this way.” I said as I looked at him. He gave me a funny look, but he complied. It kind of went like this the whole 20 minutes of going down different hallways. All of the sudden, we made a sudden left and their was the front door. We both ran over to it, hoping it was a way out. It was, but right as we got outside, a Black Hummer pulled up in front of the building. A Tall man got out, immediate I recognized him, and it was General Laruzelski…
I had no idea how long we were wandering around for, but I couldn't explain my relief when we made it to the door. Until we opened the door that is. Shit was the first word that crossed my mind. I considered shifting to a cheetah and giving Raine a ride out, but cheetahs were so frail. We wouldn't get far like that. I pinned my ears back and growled. Definately not a good time to shift back to myself.
Raine was trembling beside me and I licked her hand. It was sort of weird, but it's not like I could do anything else the way I was right now. Hopefully she wouldn't take it the wrong way... And there was the softy in me coming out. I needed to focus on my morbid side. Time to rip some general's head off. I shoved Raine back a ways with the side of my body and stood between her and the general. Running wouldn't get us far, they had the hummer and the weapons. Fighting would at least give Raine a chance. My tail twitched, I was getting anxious.
I don't think there was any man alive I'd rather rip to shreds than the general. He really ticked me off.
Crap. Crap. Crap. This was not happening. We had somehow mange to get out of that deranged place, but now the G.O’s are here, and boy did they seem angry. I watched Dust out of the corner of my eye. He seemed to be trying to think of a way out. I also knew that both he and I knew that it was pointless to run. After all the G.O’s had a Hummer and weapons.
Looking around frantically, I suddenly felt something wet and warm hit my hand. It had been Dust, he had licked my hand to try and tell me that everything was going to be all right. I had not noticed it myself, but seconds after the general had arrived, I began to shake uncontrollably. There was just something so malicious about this man that bothered me. It was just the aura he gave off…it was terrifying.
Suddenly I felt myself get shoved gently back by Dust. He was now in-between me and the G.O’s and the General. Taking a couple steps back, I shoved myself against the wall, trying to put as much distance between the G.O’s and me. I was also giving Dust enough space to do what he needed to do. I saw his tail twitch as he got ready to spring on the nearest G.O member. I knew the battle would begin soon, there had to be something I could do…
The wind rustles my hair as I glide across the sky. It's lonely up here, with only the birds to comfort me, but I love the tranquility.I never ceases to amaze me how I can fly without anyone noticing as long as I remain silent. It's a general rule for us flying types; Human's never look up. However, this time, I hardly noticed any of it. My mind was fixed on one thing: Arriving on the Island. I was only 10 miles away now. I would be there in a minute. I concentrated on hacking the Island mainframe to find out where the others are. I shift threw terabytes of data until I hit the jackpot; a team of G.O's had been sent to the east of the island 10 minutes ago. A quick check of the co-ordinates revealed that I was flying over their heads. I looked down. There were two Kids, one calls himself Dust, can't tell who the other is. I smiled. If somebody doesn't step in soon that is what he will be, dust. Silently I drew my Katanas and removed my Sunny Gs. It was time to play.
Don't ask me what a quidnunc is or else I'll Floccinaucinhilipilificate you I KILLED BOB
I laughed. These two kids thought they could take me on? The reason I found myself to be so confident was an additional three hummers had pulled up behind me. I stood there with a group of twenty GOs; sure they weren't Special Ops, but they weren't incompetent either. One of the GOs lifted their automatic rifle at the kids.
"Eh, eh, now Harold. Put that away. Get your Tasers out boys, I want these Gremlins alive," I said, gesturing to them all to advance.
They all took out small electric tasers that would put the victims to sleep almost instantly. The Dust kid lept at one of them, attacking him, tearing his clothes and the GO quivered into a ball. However, another GO had placed a taser to the back of his neck and the Dust kid lay motionless on the ground. Raine was easy enough too. Suddenly we were greeted by a new guest, who'd made an admirable arrival from the air above. He was weilding a dual pair of Katanas. How creative. All the GOs gathered around him, I just observed. The guest killed all of them, and it was done in a matter of seconds, his speed and reaction time was priceless, cutting the GOs to shreds before they could even think.
Though, as the guest marvelled at his own perfections, surrounded by the bodies of dead men, I had the perfect oppurtunity. I was right behind him and a Taser to his neck, he was out within seconds.
The three captives were grouped in a cage, made of reinforced plastic. This meant they couldn't break though it, unlike metal or walls, the plastic was far, far more dense. I looked at them all, smiling. Despite the GOs bodies having been cleared, I wasn't alone. My Special Ops men had arrived. Twelve of the most elite fighters in the whole of North America. Smiling, I peered into the cage.
"Unfortunately, my treasures," I grunted, "you'll be taken back to the stronghold in the island. However, you should think yourselves lucky I ran into you before these lads arrived." I gestured to the Special Ops men. "Your friends, who are still out there... They won't be so lucky. Not even Claude."
My hands turned to fists as I walked away with the group of Spec Ops men and clambered into the Hummer. We drove off, leaving the caged prisoners to the capable hands of several more GOs. They would be back in the North Island jail by sunset.
This wasn’t good. Well that was an understatement; he was already plotting that whore demise. Tru seemed to have either lost it, or was deliberately trying to piss him off. Knowing her it was second one. Sighing loudly he walked over to her, with a mission on his mind. Luckily Ms Whore had gone to bed, scared out her mind.
“Why Tru?”
"I'm bored." Trudy gave a little shrug and tugged on a lock of her hair. "And she's going to be useful. You'll see."
“You know you don’t fool me Tru, I’ve known you long enough to know. You’re more dangerous than I am.”
The change in her stance was small but enough to tell Claude that she was ready to be serious. Ermintrude sighed. "Sometimes it's easier," she said softly.
“Thank you. So really reckon then ain’t seen last of that asshole, I should have killed?” A touch of annoyance entering his voice; which for most people would be a sign of shut up now or experience death by your stupidity. But the Tru, it was way to emote.
"Sorry but I have a feeling we're going to see him again real soon."
“Why did I spare him Tru, he was right there, I’d slaughtered all his men and he was down for count?”
"I don't know, Claude. It's part of what makes you so wonderfully puzzling!" There was a ghost of excitement in her eye.
Smirking he leant over kissing her again, she giggled as he held her before stopping and resuming cold calmness, “So, I reckon he wants revenge then, think we can handle him?” "With her we stand a chance but I honestly don't know. It... it's a blank to me."
He just realized now what Tru was thinking, “Oh damn you’re actually afraid... that can’t be good...”
Tru shot him a wry grin. "Not good," she agreed, serious again.
“I don’t like my thinking, but I think we need more people. And I’ll try not to kill him.” He laughed with a little nervousness showing in him.
"More people?" Tru clapped her hands and did a little dance, catching hold of Claude to make him twirl with her. "That would be just... delightful!"
It was about survival, and even he had to admit this made sense, “Just make sure, they don’t piss me off.”
"Deal," Ermintrude agreed. "Seal with a kiss?" she asked, almost shyly.
Without another word he whispered, “I’ve a better idea, let’s go inside, I’m going to make that wicked girl come out.” He winked.
"Claude! We have guests!" Trudy complained in a mocking tone but she followed him inside, a fond smile playing over her lips.
You poor take courage You rich take care This earth was made a common treasury For everyone to share All things in common All people one We come in peace The orders came to cut them down
I tried to sleep, but i couldn't, that creep could kill me in my sleep. I could hear them stirring outside. “Why Tru "I'm bored, and she's going to be useful. You'll see." Useful? As in how? I got onto my knees and leaned towards them, able to hear them more clearly now. "You know you don’t fool me Tru, I’ve known you long enough to know. You’re more dangerous than I am.” How could she be dangerous? She was so sweet and kind. But she did have a strange way of looking at things. "Sometimes it's easier." Most of their conversation wasn't making sense to me, they must be talking with body language. “Thank you. So really reckon then ain’t seen last of that asshole, I should have killed?” He sounded annoyed and very, very pissed. I wondered if they were talking about that general guy. "Sorry but I have a feeling we're going to see him again real soon." What! He wouldn't just let me walk off after escaping, and they seemed to have something against him. “So, I reckon he wants revenge then, think we can handle him?” He could do more then handle him. "With her we stand a chance but I honestly don't know. It... it's a blank to me."
Blank? Like, she can see something but now it's gone? Maybe there was more to Trudy then she had shown. “Oh damn you’re actually afraid, that can’t be good.” They were afraid, then i should be scared shit less. "Not good," I was amazed at how serious she sounded. “I don’t like my thinking, but I think we need more people. And I’ll try not to kill him.” He chuckled nervously, try not to kill him? I wanted to kill him already! An old guy like that might actually die from one of my heart attacks. "More people?" I heard her hands clap together "That would be just... delightful!" Yes, more people to fear Claude. “Just make sure, they don’t piss me off.” Agreed, don't piss him off. I made a mental note to warn the others. "Deal, seal with a kiss?" gag, lovey dovey crap. “I’ve a better idea, let’s go inside, I’m going to make that wicked girl come out.” Oh My God, he wasn't serious. I scurried back to my bed, lying down and closing my eyes. "Claude! We have guests!" They came inside, i hoped they would really believe i was sleeping.
"Even in the end --even in death-- I can't hate you." - Neri Hereford's last words.
"The Gods demand blood, for they... do not bleed." Jaska.
I groaned, reaching up to rub my head. My hands were human again... The general. It all came back to me in a flood. Well I was back to being human and damn was I sore. The tazors could have had some aid in that, but I knew it was mostly from being forced back to human. I opened my eyes a crack, trying to focus. Dizziness overwhelmed me immediately and I shut them again.
"Raine?" I murmered. Was she in here with me? Man, I had sort of failed on the whole rip-the-G.O.'s-to-shreds thing. There was something pressed against my shoulder. It was warm and moving slightly. A body. Raine's body? I didn't dare open my eyes again to check.
"Raine?" I asked for her again, a little louder this time. Don't get too concerned about her Dust. I warned myself. Fine. If she was still unconscious, I would live. It was actually kind of nice, having a body that I prayed was hers up against me. Creepy on the other hand if it was somebody else. Heck, it would probably be creepy for her if she woke up and I was grinning at her like a hungry cat or something when she opened her eyes. Ah well, she'd live. I probably wouldn't end up grinning at her anyways.
I forced my eyes back open a smidge, head turned to the lump leaning on my shoulder. I took a few deep breaths, trying to stabalize myself and stop my head from spinning. I managed a slight smile. It was indeed Raine leaning on me. I felt tempted to do something stupid, like brush her hair behind her ear or pull her a little closer. I was starting to feel protective for who-knows-what reason. Sort of like I had felt protective of Nikki for a time. Thunder sort of ruined that aspect for me though and I had let him. I leaned closer to her ear and whispered her name again, shaking her shoulder slightly. My body was screaming at me to sit still, but since when did I listen to anybody let alone myself?
I kept my back against the wall as the G.O.’s pointed their guns at us, but suddenly the General made a strange comment. He had asked them to put away their guns, and bring out the tasers. Great, they wanted us alive. I stood there silently waiting, next thing I know, Dust had leapt at the nearest G.O. member.
The guy was on the floor in second, trying to protect himself from the massive tiger claws that were trying to kill him. Then everything happened in slow motion, a G.O. member had somehow gotten behind him, and gotten him with a tasers. I was near tears as I watched the tiger fall to the ground. I had wanted to run over, but next thing I knew I was surrounded too. I felt something hit the back of my neck, then a strange pain, then lights out…
I had become slightly conscious when I heard someone say my name, I tried to respond, but nothing happened. Then suddenly a flash back of Dust falling to the ground flashed before my eyes. Concern swept through my entire being, where was he? Was he okay? Did they do something to him? Shifting a little I felt something warm and soft under me. I turned my head a little bit, because I had heard my name again, this time though, something had tickled my ear along with it.
It took a second for my brain to full concept who I was, after all the voice had been familiar. I gathered up all the strength I had left and muttered “Dust?” under my breath, hoping he would hear it...

I awoke. My eye's can barely open and my mouth is dry. One thought flashed through my head, The Commander has a Taser. I had been captured. All I want to do is sleep but I know that isn't an option. I briefly considered counting sheep backwards to see if it woke me. How stupid. No, I'll have to do this the painful way. I reach into my sock and pull out a small box. I press a button on it and it flips open, revealing a short sword. I adjust a knob on the side of it and slice in between my fingers. It hurts like hell but at least I'm awake. I finally open my eyes fully and taking my surroundings. My hopes of breaking out using brute force were instantly smashed. The cage was made of a type of plastic that was far denser than plastic. Funny that, I thought to myself, the cage is dense, just like the commander. He hasn't even done a full body check. He has left me my best weapon, the sword. I adjusted the knob again and shrill cry burst out of it. A purple haze surrounded it. The noise is deafening though, and Dust and the girl, Raine, I think, have awoken. "Who the hell are you?" That was Dust. " Me? Oh I'm just the kid that's about to save your sorry ass. Gimme a hand, will ya?" That was me. "What do you want him to do?" That was Raine. " I need him to hold the cage whilst I cut through it." " Hullo, I am here, you know. Any way how do you think your going to cut threw it using that flimsy thing?" " See the purple haze? That is a mono-layer forcefield. If I dropped this now it would bury itself in concrete." " Whatever geek boy, I'll hold it." " I can't help being clever, it's my gift." I got a firm grip on the hilt of the sword and began to cut.

Great, just what I needed. Some geeky boy making me feel bad for my lack of technological knowledge. I did as I was told and pretended not to be amazed by the sword thing he was holding. "You okay?" I asked softly, turning to Raine. I should have acted like a twit, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. If I kept this up she would probably start getting close and trying to get me to talk about my past, which wasn't happening.
She nodded, but she didn't look the part. She looked scared and like she was in pain. Not unlike myself. Of course I wasn't going to let the scared part catch on, that was completely against the Dust way of doing things. Scared would be a Jeremy like thing to do, and at heart I was no Jeremy.
They could be mindreaders for all you know. Stop it. I warned myself. There really was no telling who was what here. I knew Raine was a shifter and this guy was some sort of super genius or something, but who was to say that neither of them could read minds as well?
"Okay, so after we're done this, how do we get out of wherever we're at? Car, helicopter..." I asked, trying to be emotionless. I was too tired to be the same old creepy Dust right now. Too tired and too sore.
