Okay, this is the first time I'm drawing a human's face as the sole thing to focus on.

Tell me if you like it and where I can improve.

NOTE-The red smudge is intentional. It is to be a smudge and it is a custom to apply sindhoor(that's what it's called) on a dead person's portrait.

I've really tried hard for the nose. This is the best I could get. *Aaah, needs more practice.*

Hey :) My name is Lunah and I'll be your reviewer today.

First I'd like to mention the fact that this is really quite nice. You've got the general anatomy down and you're definitely mastering shading. However, there are a few things I'd like to suggest improvement on.

The chin looks overly round. For a girl as young as her, that may be natural - I can't be sure without the picture.

The mouth curves in a little too early. To clarify: the lips look unnaturally sharp instead of curved as lips usually are. They're too harsh for her face, but the coloring is good. If you redo it, be careful, because you don't want to mess up the careful highlighting.

The nose looks like it needs more definition. This comes from shading - highlight the center and darken the sides a little more, as well as the bottom. Subtle indentations can make or break a picture (lol cliches)

The right side of the face (our right) looks like it's been drawn up a little too much, while the ears have the reverse problem - the left is higher than the right. I'd suggest using a grid to see exactly how the anatomy goes.

As far as the picture goes, it's quite nice. You may need to use this as a draft, mostly for clean-up and to avoid erasing too much, but it's definitely a good place to be.
I am awesome don't even deny it

Hey Lava!

The nose is really piggy! I don't know whether this is supposed to be the case or what, but it looks like she doesn't really have any nose structure at all. Also! Her right side looks more... outlined than the others. Just look at the nose, for instance. So yeah. Just make it a bit more consistent, I think. :)

Hmm...I can tell you're really starting to master the basics (ie. shading, proportions) but they still need work. Her lips are kind of unnatural-looking and could also be a little fuller. Her nose lacks real dimension and actually looks flat, and her hair looks a little unnatural also the way it is. I can also see that you went over later and sketched out the outline of her, which may have done you more harm than good in this picture - but I gotta say that really I'm just knit-picking here. I can tell you've really got some talent going for you, and more experience will really help you in the long run. And since I've picked on you pretty well now I'll give you the things that I really liked.
Her eyes! Nice. Eyes are so important because they portay more emotion than any other part of the body, and you've really given her a smiling look. In general, her hair's also really nice, and her eyebrows are spot-on. Your shading's very natural too.

Hey, Lava! KD here to review, and also to return your favor of giving me the awesome review on my drawing.

Pros:

-You captured the expression in the girl's eyes perfectly. Without the smile, you can tell that she's happy.
-I like how everything was black and white except for the girl's, can I say, sindhoor smudge? Nice.
-Good job with the shading on her face; it gives her face a sense of skin color.
-The nose. It's very hard, as you probably know, to get noses and girls to not look ugly! Haha.

Cons:

-Her mouth shape/lips are a bit strange. Her upper lip doesn't have that rounded, stretched out 'M' shape. It's not really a problem, since there must be people with lips like hers. So, I might be wrong. If I am, please don't listen to me; her lips just seem to stick out of the picture in a bad way.
-Shoulders need to be wider. That or you shrink her head!
-Hm, her hair seems a bit stiff, especially her right pigtail.

Overall:

Very, very nice! She's very realistic and adorable. Love it. *likes* Keep up the great work, hope I helped-

Hmm, I've heard so many comments on the nose, but I'd people to realize something: Asian noses are far different than Western ones! It differs throughout Asia, but I'm pretty sure it does not need anything more to bring it out, let it stay where it is!
The left ear is a little too big, and the hair right on the left of the line (up near the top) has too sharp an angle.
Overall, the left side didn't turn out as nicely as the right. Maybe you drew right to left? That's what happens in most of my drawings: it get's worse and worse the farther I go. ><
Anyways, awesome work! (The red smudge is terrifying! I'm getting the heebeedajeebees from this far away.)

EDIT: I'll bug people to vote, even if yours is the only submission. :D

Hello there, Lava! =D

I actually think you did really good with this, much better than I could have done.

Ears: I think her ears are kind of droopy and long, which isn't right for someone so young. Maybe shorten them some?

Eyes: The eyes are slightly different shapes than the other and are just a tiiiiny bit too close. Maybe even them out some.

Lips: Her lips make her look angry and her personality almost snotty, to be honest. Maybe make them fully closed or stretch them into a more noticeable smile?

Eyebrows: The eyebrows seem a little too bushy for someone her age. Maybe then them out just a little bit?

Hair: Her hair is pretty good, except the pony tail on the right seems a little strange because the hair below probably should lead up and into the pig/pony tail instead of just going right by, if that makes sense.

The nose looks pretty good, in my opinion. :)

Good luck and keep it up!
