I woke up in a large tree.My mind was spinning, i was hoping it was all a dream.I heard some people from our group talking,so, i looked down,no-one in sight.I climbed down the tree and once more proceeded down the narrow path that had forced me back. This time, nothing stopped me.

I came to our group.Hopefully they wont notice i was gone. I thought.

"So what's the plan then? Cause I don't really have any idea of how to cause a scene and get out." Derek says.

"Wing it." I say, and shrug. I press my palm to the ground, and 50 feet away where the kids are standing two huge, moving vines shoot out of the ground. I have them start to pick things up, and then drop them.

Most of the group are screaming in terror. But one girl is moving her hands around, and I see the vines start to move with the wind. As hard as I try to push them towards her, the wind just keeps pushing me back. Then, Cole tries using his necklace to hurl a stone at them, but she deflects it with wind too.

I pull Cole and Derek behind a rock.

"Did you see that? She was controlling the wind." I say.

"She was powerful, too." Cole growls.

"I have to tell you something." Lily told me once we were in her room.

"What is it?" I ask. I was a little nervous. She seemed frightened.

"That man that we saw in the park, I saw him. He was watching us from the window."

My face turned pale white. "Do you know who he is?" I asked anxiously.

Lily shook her head. That just made me more worried. I looked out of her bedroom window, which gave a conveniently clear view of the kitchen window. The man wasn't there. I looked around more, and then I spotted him. He was watching us.

"He's still there," I said, "but I don't think he saw me. He's watching us."

"What should we do?"

"Well, I would just go out there and ask what it is he wants, but he looks kinda suspicious. He might be dangerous."

Suddenly, the front door opened and Lily's parents came out. They had noticed the man and went to talk to him.

"Uh-oh." I said. Lily joined me at the window. "This might not be so good."

With horror already building in my heart, I joined Sutton at the window, looking out at my parents, blissfully unconscious of the probable danger awaiting them, walking toward the man. Oh no I thought.

Time seemed to slow as I saw my perfect parents stepping up to ask the man something. His eyes widening, the man tore his eyes away from us to stare at my parents. That was when my heart really stopped.

The man slowly smiled a cruel, cruel smile like the one I had seen on his face at the park while looking at Sutton trying to socialize.

The man gave a cruel smirk when Lily's parents talked to him. My heart pounded.

What were they saying to him?

Everything was happening slowly, yet it seemed like it all shot through so fast. I wasn't thinking straight.

I ran downstairs. I was about to open the door, when Lily blocked my way.

"Are you crazy!?" She shouted at me. "He keeps looking at us like he wants to kill us! He's not safe."

"Your parents are out there." I said in defense. "What if they get killed?"

Lily thought about that for a moments. I knew her parents didn't like me, but they had put up with me for so long, so I figured I owed them.

Lily sighed, and moved from my path. I opened the door, and walked towards the man and her parents.

The strange path eventually became very dark, and the farther i went the more eerie it became. But something wanted me to stay on track so i swallowed my fear and continued.

A brite sone through the trail,a clearing? Finally the fear caught up with me and I ran towards the possible clearing, only to see a man with a creul smirk looking at a girls parents. i didn't know what they were saying, but i know i had to stop it.

I suddenly had a funny feeling that I was being watched. At first, I thought it was just the creepy man, then I noticed a figure standing on the edge of the forest. I was about to go see what it was, when the man began to talk.

"Hello." he said, still wearing the smirk on his face.

"Hello." Lily's father said. "Who, may I ask, are you?"

"That's unimportant."

"Not really." I said in a smart-alack tone. He looked at me, and I shuddered. He looked so mysterious and creepy.

"Why are you here?" Lily's mother asked. Her voice was strained, and I could tell she was frightened.

"I'm here," he said, "for her." He pointed towards me. I gasped, and I could feel the color drain from my face.

I heard the conversation from the door, and gasped at the same time Sutton did. I gathered my breath. I wasn't the courageous type. I would say I was actually very cowardly. But I wanted desperately to stand up for Nature Freak.

Suddenly, I heard a crunch of footsteps in the woods across the street. Apparently, so had everyone else, because they all, including the weird man, were staring at the spot it had come from. For a split second, my mind was focused on that point as well. But then I snapped back to attention. The man was off his attention on Sutton, and it was the perfect time to attack.

I stood there on the doorstep for a good minute, contemplating what I should do. Then I finally, telling myself I was doing a stupid thing, ran off the doorstep to dash towards the man.

"No!" shouted Sutton from behind me.

Penny Cooper.
~~

She had been out in the park since early that morning, around seven am, when the grass was still wet and the day smelled fresh and new. She had thrown on a pair of shorts a tank top and a light sweatshirt, grabbed her camera, a few granola bars, laced up her running shoes and was out the door.

The park was about a mile from her house, but she enjoyed the jog, and it was worth it for the running trails and the wildlife she loved taking pictures of. She arrived to see only a few people there, most walking dogs. She set off down one of the most secluded trails, her most favorite.

That was the morning.

It was hot now, the sun almost overhead told her it was sometime around noon, the sweatshirt that kept the morning chill at bay was now tied around her waist, and her clothes felt sticky. Cooper sat down in the shade of a tree, looking over at the photos she had taken through the last few hours, most of them were garbage, she would delete them later, a few were decent but not amazing, and she promised herself to to get at least one shot she really liked before she would go home.

"No!" I shouted. "Lily, you know what he wants."

Lily looked back at me and sighed. "It's yours. You know how to handle it. It can't get into the wrong hands, or else who knows what will happen?!"

"I know, Lily."

The man was beginning to get impatient. He moved his hand slowly to his pocket. For all I knew, he had a gun in there. He noticed that I saw, and he smirked again. I knew there wasn't going to be an easy way out of this.

"I have to." I said to Lily, my face solemn. I have her the slightest wink, and I knew she understood.

I took the necklace off and held it in my palm, clenching it tight. I walked over to the man.

"Now you see." he said. "You never had a chance. I always get what I want."

I held up my hand and opened it up. The crystal shimmered in the sunlight. The man had a thirsty smile on his face, like he'd just found the greatest treasure in the world. It was, to most who knew.

He reached for it, but just as he was about to get it, I clenched my hand back into a fist. He got out his gun, but I was too quick for him. I punched him in the face, then in the gut, knocking the wind out of him.

It all happened so fast I had no idea what had happened for a few seconds.
Then I came back to the present just in time to see Sutton punching the guy hard in the nose, sending him keeling back in to my parents.

"Run!" I shouted to them, and, terrified as they were, they did as they were told.

Quickly, as Sutton started to tackle him and he reached for his gun, I snatched it out of his hands to aid her. I knew I couldn't help any more than that. I was no fighter, and besides, Sutton was the only one who really knew how to deal with this. But at least I could do something.

Butterflies started to flutter in my stomach as I watched the struggle go on, kicking only when I needed to. I hated to see blood. That was me being my cowardly self all over again.

((Here comes trouble))

Charles

I watch as Juliet easily deflects numerous attacks in her direction. It was odd, knowing that she wasn't the only one I had never seen anyone like her, and knowing there were others.

How many were there? Were there really just countless normal-looking people out walking that could secretly do things beyond what was normal?

I begin to walk towards where I saw them disappear.

"Where are you going?" Juliet asks.

"I want to talk to them. I never knew there were others as amazing, and incredible, as you. Just meeting them, I mean..."

"Are you crazy? They attacked us!"

"Probably just for fun." I say, and walk towards the rock. When I look behind it, I see there are three people about my age. Two guys, and a girl. One, beautiful, incredible girl.

"Who are you?" She asks. Her voice is beautiful, like doves singing.

"Uh, Charles, who are you." I say, not taking my eyes away from her face.
Life is a door, and I hold the key to happiness.
