Dang these migraines. When are they gonna give me some aspirin or somethin? The door to my right opened and a young girl walked in. I glance to my right and glance back to the TV. Next thing I know, the pregnant girl and supposedly her boyfriend, I have no idea, begin walking towards me. Then, the pregnant suddenly changes her mind and walks toward the girl who just arrived. Make up your mind, maybe? Sheesh.
I look back toward the TV and indulge myself in the simplicity of Tom and Jerry. My eyes squint as another migraine attack murders my brain. Leaning on my forearms, I brushed my hands through my soft, jet black hair in frustration. "Get out of my head," I whispered very softly so no one could hear. My right eye twitched and a smirk appeared on my lips, then disappeared.

A new girl was lead in by a nurse I absolutely hated. Dr.Renee was the weirdest doctor here, and she made everything sound worse then it did. I kept silent like I normally did when they began testing. I never talked to the Doctors or the scientists. Ever.

They began calling us out, one at a time. Each turn lasted about an hour and a half. This was for an update on communication skills and then experiments occurred on those who were ready, though what it took to be ready was over my head. I simply went with them when they called me.

"How have you been sense your last visit?" Dr. Harper asked me. I kept silent as usual. She sighed, this was usual as well. "It says here on your records that you stabbed one of the nurses. Is this true?" We both knew that it was, so why the hell would she even ask? I looked up at her through my lashes, narrowing my eyes.

She nodded, scribbling something on her paper. I sighed, looking up at her fully. she smiled, as if I were going to speak. Only in her dreams. I looked at the bland, pale walls.

Could you really blame me for killing one of those pigs? They took us sin day by day, poking at us and probing our brains, looking for something that didn't seem to be there, but they only seemed to realize that after we were dead.

We went through the normal "Come on, you have to take your shots", and my normal fits I threw when they touched me wrong. But there was one shot I had to take that I hadn't taken before. I threw an even bigger fit, kicking at them as they tried to hold me down.

"Hold her arms and legs. Angel, this is perfectly safe for you." If it was so damn fine, why didn't she take it? I tried as good as I could to keep them off of me, but it's hard to fight twelve of them at once. Dr.Harper jabbed a needle into the crease at my elbow. I screamed, not knowing exactly why I did, It didn't hurt, not after fourteen years of it.

My eyes closed, feeling too heavy to open. I knew they were a bunch of lying pigs. Every last one of them.

"Yes," I said, "I do hope I like talking with you guys. How long have you been here?"
She shrugged. "We've all mostly been here our whole lives. It seems like they take some of us and never let them interact with other people because we've been having new people show up. Like you and the guy over there." She was indicating to the boy watching cartoons.
"Oh," I said. "So can you introduce me to everyone?"

"Sure," I said, "But I don't even know everyone myself. We get new people everyday."

I led her to Logan first. "This is Logan," I said. "He's probably the smartest one here." Logan shook his head in disbelief, but then spoke.

"Nice to meet you," he said, shaking Eva's hand.

"I'm Eva," she said, smiling brightly. He grinned back.

Jerry flies down the hallway with Tom in hot pursuit. He makes a sharp left into the kitchen , kicks the cupboard, dropping a pan and snatches it without stopping for a second. He chuckles and zooms behind a wall, waiting. Catching his breath, he can hear Tom's claws racing up the kitchen tile. He grins and pulls the skillet back, waiting quietly.
As soon as Tom's whisker appears, Tom swings the pan with enough force to tear a baseball. BONG!!!!!
Tom's face flattens and he stumbles around as his teeth fall out one by one. Jerry chuckles and zooms past Tom, out of sight.

My stomach hurts after laughing so hard, I begin to cry. I haven't laughed like this since I can remember. I love cartoons. They're so simple yet so entertaining.
The pregnant girl along with the other girl by the door approach the boy sitting next to me. I look up, smile and nod and then bring my attention back to the TV. The door behind me opens loudly.
"Okay, Sterling. She's ready for you."
I looked back to see Susan waiting with the door open. I nodded, getting up to walk out, followed by a loud thud.
We began down the same hallway we came through, past the loud girl in the room. She's still sitting on her bed.
"Who is that girl?"
Susan glanced to her left and looked back forward. "Just another patient, I'll get her name and maybe I could introduce you two."
My eyes widened. "No no. She seems weird. She might hurt me or something for all I know."
Susan chuckled. "Believe me no one hear except me and my friends could hurt you. Not that we would." She confirmed, glancing behind her towards me.
"Yeah, sure. I've heard that one before."
Just make her keep believing you like her, Sterling. Just keep the act. You're doing good. Just keep it.
My lip twitched and head began to pound so hard, it knocked me to the ground. Susan looked back, dropped her keyboard and bolted to my aid. "Sterling! Sterling, are you alright?"
My eyes were tightly shut as I rubbed my head. "Yeah, yeah. I'm find. Just these dang headaches. Could I get some aspirin or something?"
She nodded. "Yes, as soon as we get you to Mrs. Ryding. Let's go."
Susan helped me up and led me to a door to our left, leading to another long hallway.
"This is as far as I go. It's the 4th door on your right, okay? I'll be back in a minute with aspirin." She patted me on the back, and closed the door.
I looked forward. The hallway was long, dimly lit. Every other ceiling light was activated, with half of them zapping on and off. As I began to walk forward, there were glass windows on either side of me. Large glass windows, revealing rooms with a large tables, two chairs and a camcorder. One room on my left had a person in there cleaning a splatter of red on the wall. He glanced at me then looked back at the soap soaked wall and continued to scrub violently.
Fourth door, to my right. I hit my knuckle on the door three times. "Come in," a calm voice called from the other side. I placed my hand on the handle and snapped it down, opening the door. The room was just like all the others: A large table, two chairs and a camcorder. No windows aside from the large glass window leading into the hallway. At the head of the table sat a woman in a comfortable light green sweater and light blue pants. Odd combination in my opinion, but who cares.
"Sterling! It's such a joy to see you!" The woman got up and hugged me tightly. I was quite shocked for no one had ever just hugged me before. I stood there, almost in disbelief, quite nervous actually. I pathetically patted her on the back as she pulled away and motioned for me to sit down. "Please! Join me." She said with a smile.
I walked toward the foot of the table, brushed my black dungarees and white t-shirt with my hands and sat down.
I looked up with a nervous smile as she sat down, five feet in front of me.
"So! You're probably wondering why you're here."
I nodded with an inquisitive smirk.
"Well, I'll explain everything is just a minute." She smiled. My smile dissapeared.

My eyes opened unwillingly, and a face filled my vision. My stomach hurt, my head hurt, my back hurt, and my arms and legs hurt. A light beamed down into my eyes, and I tried to move my head away from it. I found that I couldn't move my neck at all.

"Don't move," a man's voice said, stern and commanding. I tried to lift my hand to touch my face, but straps held it back. I sighed, squeezing my eyes shut, then opening them. The light burned my eyes. Now was the moment of truth. What in the hell had they done to me?! I looked down at my body, shocked at what I saw.

My arms had stitches down them, starting from the elbows. My eyes widened. My stomach was showing, and I saw more stitches there. A hand pushed my head back down. "How do you feel?" the doctor asked. I looked him in the eyes. I cursed him in my head, screamed threats inside myself, even imagined myself killing him.

"No use," Dr. Harper said. "She doesn't talk." This was true, but a hundred things came to my mind to say. I pierced my lips, keeping my mouth shut. that was the best I could do. I could feel more stitches on my forehead and next to my eyes. What had they done to me!?

They unstrapped my arms and legs and let me up. I sat up slowly, my shirt falling over my stitched up stomach. I stretched out my arms, turning them in every direction. The skin pulled where the stitches were, making it sting, but it was bearable. I stood up, noticing the tubes hooked up to me. I stretched my legs, noticing more stitches, while the nurses held my back so I didn't fall, and doctors scribbled stuff on clipboards. I had an IV in my left arm. I could feel more stitches in my back when I stretched my arms upwards.

I closed my eyes then opened my eyes again, hoping this would all be a dream. Unfortunately, it didn't. They let me get dressed and into my own clothes. Then, they lead me down the halls, and back to my cell. I passed the room where they where all watching cartoons. Jupiter smiled slightly at me. I nodded back slightly, then she saw the stitches and her eyes widened. Then, the wall covered my view, and I couldn't see her anymore.

For the first time ever, it felt good to be back in my cell. I sat on my cot, careful of the stitches, and pulled my knees to my chest. Silent tears fell down my cheeks. I heard a knock on my door, then the door opened sightly. "Visitor for you, Angel," Dr. Hydle said. I nodded. Were allowed to visit others here, but every conversation was monitored. A familiar face peered in at me, a smile in the middle of the face.

I opened my mouth to say something to Logan but the door opened and Renee appeared.
"Eva, you need to come with me," she said. I shot Logan and Jupiter an apologizing look and went to Renee. She lead me out of the room and escorted me to the room where the restraining chair was.
"Sit here, I'll get Dr. Murkowski." She left the room. I hopped in the chair. I wasn't scared of the restrainers, the last time they used them on me was when I was five and didn't want to take my "vitamins". Since then I've been unresistant.
I wondered why was Dr. Murkowski was coming to visit me? He was the head honcho of the doctors and nurses. He only came to talk with someone when he wanted something from them. I've only met him a couple times. The door opened and Renee and a tall beefy man with rimmed glasses walked in. He was Dr. Murkowski.
"Hello, Eva," he said, walking in front of me. Renee stayed guarding the door.
I smiled. "Hi, Dr. Murkowski." He forced a smile back.
"I heard that Renee here let you meet with the other children. Is that right?" he said.
I nodded. "Yep."
"And what do you make of them?"
"I don't know," I told him. "I just got in there then Renee pulled me out again. But I was able to be introduced to Jupiter and Logan."
"What do you think of them?" He had his clipboard out and was taking notes.
I shrugged. "They're nice enough people." He wrote something down.
"Did you find out anything about them?"
"No, except the obvious fact that Jupiter is pregnant."
"Okay, good, well I want you to stay in there and learn about what everyone in there is doing. We'll talk again soon, okay?"
I nodded but something was nagging on me. "Why do you want to know what they are doing?"
He looked me in the eye. "Because they might do something dangerous that could hurt themselves or get them killed. I want to keep them safe." I agreed.
"Renee," he said, turning to her. "You can take Eva back into the room."
Renee nodded and took me by the arm and led me away. I waved back to Dr. Murkowski before he was out of sight. Renee pulled me through the hallway again and back to the room. "Be good," she said to me before she left. I noticed that the boy in that had been watching cartoons had left but everyone else was still there. I walked up to Jupiter and Logan and smiled at them.
"Well I'm back!" I said.

"Great," I said, relieved. "Did everything go alright?"

"Annoying, but I'm ok, I suppose," she said, shrugging.

"I know the feeling," Logan said. "So... tell me more about you," he said, grinning. "Not a good conversation starter, but I can't think of anything else."

As they talked I drifted away towards the door just as a nurse came in and called my name. I followed her down a dark hallway where I was brought into the childbirth room. "We're going to need to tell you a couple of things," the nurse said softly. "But first-" I could see a syringe.

Then everything went dark.

I hummed quietly to myself determined to keep my mind occupied I actually started to sing which I hadn't done in forever it was a miracle I remembered how, "I tried to kill the pain but only brought more, so much more I lay dying and I'm pouring crimson regret and betrayal I'm dying, praying, bleeding, and screaming, Am I too lost to be saved? Am I too lost?! My God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation do you remember me lost for so long will you be on the other side or will you forget meI'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming am I too lost to be saved am I too lost? my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation I want to die!!! my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my God my tourniquet return to me salvation my wounds cry for the grave my soul cries for deliverance will I be denied Christ tourniquet my suicide." I finished singing and smiled slightly. I didn't know why I just loved the song. No I knew why it was because of... "No." I hissed to myself. I bit my lip until I drew blood. I couldn't think about her not yet anyways.
"You are without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me."

I awoke in a dark, cold room. All around me were people in white. I moaned in agony as I felt a cut on my arm.

"It was for the best," came a quiet voice. I turned towards who it was as fast as I could. Much faster than usual. What...?

"What was!" I asked. I reached for my stomach, my baby-

But it wasn't there.

"You- you-" I couldn't think of what to say. "She wasn't ready!"

"He," the woman said, stepping farther into the light. "And yes, he was."

My room was dark and I listened to all the noises outside. I heard them talking, I heard their footsteps echoing down the long hall. I closed my eyes trying to go to sleep and ignore the pain of the stitches, but every noise I hadn't heard before, I could hear now. I moaned, putting a pillow over my ears. I couldn't take it anymore. The noises were everywhere! Then, voices. Voices I've never heard before. Whispers.

I screamed. I couldn't handle it. My door lung open, and nurses and doctors came in. I kicked and screamed. It bothered me to hear these voices, so unfamiliar! When they finally got me to calm down, I looked around the room, still moaning silently. I saw the faces of some of the other children, peering into my cell.

"Whats wrong?" Dr. Harper asked me. I closed my eyes, still hearing the noises. I grunted, looking her in the eyes.

"Make them stop," I said sternly. her face became puzzled.

"Make what stop? What is wrong?" she repeated. I looked away, looking over the faces i saw. Some one had turned the light on so I could now see all of their faces. This was the first time I'd talked in font of any of them, so they were all stunned.

"Make the voices stop," I whispered, barley able to hear myself. My voice was pleading. I wanted this to stop. She smiled a half smile that made me wonder. She scribbled something on her clipboard. Two men took my arms, lifting me from the bed. Dr. Harper nodded, then left the room. They followed, dragging me with them. She lead us down many halls, and into a room I knew very well. This was what we called the Death Room. This was because everyone who went in there, died soon after going in there. Either it was suicide, or simply experimental failure, as they loved to call it.

I tried to pull against them, but to no avail. The voices seemed to be telling me to run, but I couldn't. They strapped me down to the table. I struggled, hoping with all the years of people fighting against the straps, they would break. But they were still strong. One of the doctors brought out a syringe. This was the dreaded syringe of death as we all knew it as. I once had a friend who was put in here for three weeks strait. When she came out, she hung herself in the cafeteria.

"No he freaking wasn't!" I shouted. "And anyway, give him to me if he was so ready!"

"He's a great specimen, Jupiter, you must understand. We needed him. And anyway, you're much to young to have a son."

"Want to bet on it?!"

"Child 876," she said calmly, ignoring me, "Is a wonderful experiment. The father wasn't to happy about having to give his genes for it, but he allowed us to for the sake of science."

"Who is this friggin' father?" I asked, exasperated. "And show me my kid!"

"The father," she said, smiling sympathetically at me, "Is someone you have never and will never meet. And I'm afraid you can't see Child 876. He must grow up away from you."

"Shut up!" I said, jumping up. They underestimated how quick I was. She started to run towards me, but I ran out. I opened doors. Some were empty, some were with scientists who also started chasing me. I opened a door to see a girl from our group. She was alone. Why did they leave her alone in a room that could be opened from the outside?

"Help me," I pleaded. "They're coming soon."

I heard someone come in, but I wasn't worried. I kept my eyes closed, trying to get the damn voices to go away. Someone touched my shoulder gently. I opened my eyes and saw Jupiter standing over me. She began to undo the straps.

"Help me. They're coming soon," she whispered. I nodded, touching her shoulder. I got up, rolling off the bed. We ran out of the room and down another long hallway. I knew where the door out of here was, but we would have to kill for it. I heard a baby's laughter coming from one of the door, I wasn't sure which one though. I turned to her. She had paused in the middle of the hallway. The scientists were coming fast. I began opening doors, not caring where they lead. She followed, trusting me.

We opened another door inside of one of the others. Stairs. We jumped two stairs at a time. We continued to hear the baby's laughter. This was a good sign. Somehow, I knew she would be looking for her new son. I had seen them take him away. We continued down the long stairwell. I noticed there was a doctor farther down the stairwell, carrying a baby wrapped in a little blue blanket.

heard Jupiter gasp and I turned to her. She had tears in her eyes. I turned back around, rushing down the stairs. The doctor walked out a door. I froze when I got to the door, not sure where this door lead. But I didn't stop for long. I pushed the door open. We both froze this time.

A gentle wind blew my hair back out of my face. The green trees were even more beautiful than I had imagined. We had ended up outside. The doctor turned around. I heard the voices warning me again, but I was too late.

You got rid of them. Yes, that's just like you. Getting rid of everything unpleasant instead of learning to put up with it.
