You can always think,
Things are going to be okay.

You can always think,
People will stay the same.

You can always think,
Nothing is going wrong.

You can always think,
About what pleases you.

You can always think,
Your life is just right.

For the rest of your life,
You can always think.

But that doesn't mean anything.

This poem says a lot of things that are very true. It's basically the poetic version of the definition of realism (and that isn't a bad thing!). I like that you repeated the title throughout the poem until the very end. It gave it a sort of rhythm that I like to have when I read poetry. Also, the actual rhythm of the poem was nice and steady. The only major problem I saw was that "o.k." should be written out as "okay." Other than that, this is a good poem! Keep writing!

I didn't even read it and I already think it's too repetitive just by looking at it.

Teehee, yes, but what does that mean, if it doesn't mean anything? ;)

Anyway, you're repeating the same structure again and again in your short couplets! This is good... if you were making an engineering report. Really, parallelism in engineering reports is a godsend... trust me! I'm training up to be a biochemical engineer.

The downside to that is it isn't particularly poetic. You want us to be smacked in the face by your poem, no? So, you can keep the repetition! Really, you can! What you need to do instead is to delve into each couplet. For example:

You can always think,
About what pleases you.

What pleases me? Writing, hanging out with friends, tutoring, reading, daydreaming, hanging out with my family, talking on the phone, walking my dog, getting a good grade on a test, geeking out with my classmates. So, for me, that's a list of what pleases me. Everybody's different, of course, but we do have similarities, if you look at the base meanings. So if you can be generic and just talk about how the pleasures of life are not all they're cracked up to be, then that would be sooooo much better. You kind of touch on that now, but again, poetry is a revolution. Don't be afraid to smack us silly with your poem. ;)

Hello
I have always been fond of repetition in poetry. I guess it irritates some people but I think that poetry can be expressed in different ways, ways in which when viewed from a deeper perspective, then the beauty of writing can be appreciated. I loved this poem, I loved the way you repeated the 'you can always think part', and this really brought out the originality too. I liked the flow of words and the development of your idea in the poem. The only problem I seem to have though is the title of your poem. It is...not right so to speak  , to me though. Good job :)
The best is what you make it!
