2:00pm, Day 4
Johto Daycare

"That's not a fan," Jack said.
"It's not?" Kent asked warily.
"No," said Jack. "It's an oven." Rotom flashed red and transformed into the shape of an oven as Kent fell backwards with a shout.
"The hell? Is that Rotom!?"

"Yeah. So check it out," Jack grinned. "I was looking it up online last night, and Rotom can transform into five appliances purely from memory. Each different form lets him use a move that he couldn't usually use, too. It's pretty sweet."
"Uh... huh." Kent replied after a second, eyebrow raised. "So what've you got there?" he continued, indicating the egg in Jack's arms.
"Not sure, actually," Jack said thoughtfully. "I mentioned to the old lady last night that I was thinking about catching a water Pokemon, one I could cross water on, right? So I was up late last night researching Rotom, finally fell asleep, and when I woke up at like midday this egg was in my room. Can't think of where it came from, can you?" he added with a sly glance at the old man. He looked away with a slight grin.

Kent was now looking closely at the egg. It was light blue in colour, with two black markings near the top and fang-shaped white marks on the middle. There were also some red lines down the opposite side.
"I think I know what you've got there," Kent grinned. Jack smirked.
"Care to keep it to yourself? I'd like to keep it a surprise."
He placed the egg into Oven-Rotom, which warmed itself up to keep the egg incubated.

He proceeded to lean back against a tree, watching Kent's Pokemon practise their moves. "So what's the plan for today?"
"We're training for a bit, then going up through Goldenrod to have a shot at the bug-catching contest. After that, depending what time it is, we might check out the PokeDome, double back to Goldenrod to face Whitney or else just call it a day - hey, are you ok?"

For at the mention of the name "Whitney", all the colour had drained from Jack's face.

Max|2:00pm|Day 4|Day Care center

I stared at my eevee egg. I already knew what I was going to do with it. Back when I was a kid I trainer came through are shop and let me play with her Leafeon. Out of all the evee evolutions it was by far my favorite.

Jack, The Day Care and I found Kent outside training.

"Having a hard time with your new friend?" The Day care man asked.

I didn’t pay attention as I noted a sweet sent in the air. A sent I had smelled a hundred times but it was faint and the others didn’t seem to notice so I put it to the back of my mind for a second.

So, Jack, Max, what you two got there....and why the heck is a fan following you, Jack?"

Jack explained about his ever changing Rotom and his appearing egg.

“What about you Max, you want to know what that is?”

“I already know. I was talking to the Day Care man about my favourite experience with a Pokémon and he gave me this egg and a rock and said that if I go to the right place I can get it. Of course this little guy needs to hatch first. “I said looking closely at the egg.

I noted the sweet sent get stronger and I noted wild Pokémon starting to gather close to us.

Kent furrowed his eyebrows. “What’s that smell and why are all these Pokémon coming here?”

I sighed. I knew very well what it was.
“I think it’s the move sweet sent. The question is, who’s using it?” The Day Care man said.

There was filling with a slight pink haze as the smell grew even stronger.

I looked around at the wild Pokémon . They were a lot cute Pokémon. Buneary populated the main bulk of the collection.

“Yap it’s most defiantly her,” I said.

“Who?” Kent said.

“The great and beautiful Maxine, Coordinator extraordinaire.” A voice called in the air as if on speaker phone.

Shiny multicoloured leaves slammed into the ground in front of us creating sending dust into the air. When the light and dust dissipated a girl stood poised with a Bellossom at her feet.

“Sister must you always inter in such a flashy way?” I asked.

She looked at me and rolled her eyes. “I’m practicing for competition,” she said dropping her arms. She was more decked out then I rebreed her. She had her long black hair tied in pony tail with a large pink ribbon in it. She had shiny pink boots and a short pink skirt. The only bit of clothing that she wore that wasn’t pink was her white blouse.

She bent over and picked up one of the wild Buneary and nuzzled it.

“So these are some of your teammates,” she looked over at Kent and Jack.

“They’re rather ugly. When you said you were travelling with two guys, I thought maybe one of them would be cute ,”she said.

She sighed and looked at Kent’s Piloswine and Jack’s Rotom, “But then again people tend to look like their Pokémon. “

Kent looked like he was going to say something but I cut him off.

“So why are here Maxine? You only find me out when you want something.”

She smiled. “Well I was in that dirty mining town when I found a fossil. I had it restored but it was so ugly I thought of you.”

“Thanks,” I said.

She pulled a pokeball from her purse and handed it to me.

I wondered what it was and tossed the ball. In a flash of light and pink hearts out popped a yello shel with claw like legs.

I looked at Maxine. “Hearts?”

“I put seals on all my balls,” she said.

I shrugged and reminded myself to take the seals off later.

I looked at the skittering Pokémon. I wasn’t sure what it was so I checked with my Pokédex.

Kabuto, the Ancient Pokémon. Though this Pokémon is now to be extinct, it had a hard shell that protected its body and is believed to have been a powerful swimmer.

“Well Kabuto welcome to the team,” I said.

"So, this is your sister,"Kent said with a pervy smile. "Foxy. I like them hot headed-Uf" Kent collapsed onto his knees, as Max elbowed his stomach. "Geez, lay off man I was kidding bros befo' hoes." Max only rolled his eyes.

"Well, these two are sort of cute," Maxine said examining Kent's other Pokemon. She had pushed Pilo and Glide away, and was sprucing up Lax and Fang. "Too bad they get ugly fast. OH, and this one is an absolute cutey!" Maxine had found her way over to Vee, who was trying to find a good shady place to nap.

"Okay, she was cool at first," Kent said "But this is sort of...."

"Painfully annoying." Max was occupied with taking the seals of his Pokeball.

"If you don't mind," Kent stepped between Vee and Maxine. "And even if you do, I'll be taking my Pokemon back for training. Got a gym battle later."

Maxine gave and eye roll and returned to her own Pokemon. "So you guys going to the Bug Catching Contest? I was going to go grab a Combee they are such little cuties."

Jack nodded, while having fun, finding Romtom's various new moves. "Well, it starts at three, and its getting close to two thirty, takes a bit to get there, and you want to have time-"

"Yeah, I'll go get Tyler, and we can go," Kent said and happily ran inside. "Yo, Ty-Ty, time to Gio Gio Go!" Tyler was already awake, stroking the egg.

2:40pm

"You will only be allowed one Pokemon to aid you in the tournament. If you use anymore, you will be disqualified. So choose wisely."

"See, What did I tell you?" Kent said with a chuckle, as they walked into the building. In front of them was a familiar face checking in. Sam. "I guess we'll be facing off, huh?"

Sam's jaw dropped She looked like she was about to scream stalker, but decided against it. She stood there for a bit, not sure what to say. Kite was standing behind her, nervously shuffling, with a wild grin. "ind moving out of the way? Some of us want to enter this thing!"

Sam - Day 4, 3 PM, Bugcatching Competition

Sam stared at the group that was in front of her. Again. It was almost pissing her off. What was wrong with them? Why did they keep following her around?

"Move it," Kent said.

And still a jerk, as always. Sam couldn't help herself. This time she actually chucked Kite at Kent, and Kite didn't seem to mind - no. In fact he looked like he was enjoying himself.

Only after she chucked him through the air did she realize exactly what Kite could break. Boulders...which were, oh maybe five times harder than Kent's head?

Crap.

"KITE NO!"

Tyler shoved Kent away from harm's way just in time. Sam let out a sigh of relief as Kite smashed into the floor, destroying several tiles. Kite jumped back up, shook his head a bit then waddled back to his owner. Sam picked up her Pokemon and turned around.

"You just tried to kill me."

And a part of her actually wished she'd succeeded. He was so annoying, always being first all the time.

Sam pushed past the door and entered the park, only to see tons and tons of tall grass surrounding her on every side. Kite squeaked.

Good Lord. Where was she even going to start?

"Out of the way, Sam. If you don't want to start catching some bug pokemon, then leave. This is only for trainers who actually aren't afraid of bugs," Kent snickered as he pushed past her.

That was it. She was going to fry that son of a -.

Hold on. A little way off she saw a small gray horn peeking out from a patch of grass. Sam approached it, but before she reached it this giant animal-like rock-armor thing charged at her.

Sam shrieked and scrambled away from it. She dove behind a tree but kept running. Behind her, she heard things getting smashed and wood cracking and leaves rustling. Then she tripped and turned around - the pokemon had destroyed everything in its path and was headed straight for Sam.

She didn't have to say anything - Kite instinctively roared and blasted a ton of blue flames at the rock-like thing. Sam fell over backwards and stared at it as it tried to avoid the flames to no success.

Eventually it collapsed in panic and Sam stared at it.

Was it a bug pokemon? It sure as hell didn't look like one.

But hey, it was here, right? That meant it WAS a bug pokemon and that it was fair game.

Sam chucked the ball at it and it didn't even break out. It was too simple. Oh well. Sam wasn't going to question it. She got this one, and it was probably the most powerful bug Pokemon ever.

Sam stayed in place, trying to catch her breath as Kite looked around protectively. Dear God.

This Pokemon, though, was going to beat the crap out of whatever Kent got, and when it did that, all that running and panic would be worth it.

Tyler and Haunter | 3PM | National Park

The years had passed by so quickly since I had last taken part in the bug catching contest. Though, no matter how long it had been, I remembered one spot individually that was home to the greatest bug Pokemon I knew: Scyther.

So, with Haunter trailing behind me like a creeper, I inched forward towards the group of trees slightly offset from the fence. It wasn't really part of the national park, but I had never been caught. Besides, Morty had shown me the spot years ago and I refused to pass up a chance at reliving memories with him.

And so did Haunter. Once he caught sight of where we were headed, he sped ahead into the shadows and crept around, looking for a good spot to sit and wait. I looked over my shoulder and made sure no one was watching, and hopped the fence behind him. And behind the great oak tree covered in moss and slash marks, we waited.

The minutes ticked by and Haunter kept sniping out tiny bug Pokemon with his night shade attack. And finally, once he wandered out into the dark mesh of trees, a pair of scythes came sweeping out of the trees, slashing straight through him. Haunter recoiled and readied his hands, sending out two shadow punches to the rogue Scyther. The graceful insect gave out a wail and tried to squirm, but Haunter had him pinned tight.

So into my bag I reached and threw a Pokeball, encompassing the green swordsman in a flash of light.

And twitch.

Note: All trades in the SB is dependent on which stage the Pokemon is in. Or rather the difference of stage. If the Pokemon you are getting is a stage lower, in evolution, its free. If its the same, One. and if the other Pokemon is higher, its two.

The trade I made in mine is five, because I'm not ditching a Pokemon, for new Pokemon.

Kent|3:20 pm , Day 4| National Park|

"Vio," Kent walked briskly through the forest, looking at his new friend. "Yeah, I'll name you Vio. That thunder stone sure did wonders." Kent's new found friend, had become newer, recently. After Eevee had refused to return to its Pokeball, and refused to do anything, Kent figured his only option was evolution. The stone he had gotten from the day care man most have been mixed up, because it was from from a Glaceon right now. Evee was now a proud Jolteon.

"Let's see what you can do now," Kent whipped out his Pokedex. "Jolteon, It concentrates the weak electric charges emitted by its cells and launches wicked lightning bolts. Specific Pokemon data- Moves: Thundershock, Discharge, Pin Missile, Signal Beam, Swift, Quick Attack."

"That's take those moves for a run then. Use discharge on that tree, let's see what we can get out!" A huge blast of electric power erupted from Jolteon's pin-straight hairs. The bolts flew in a bee line right towards its destination. Kent.

In a wild attempt to dodge, Kent grabbed at the nearest thing. The blast hit Kent's make sift shield, knocking him backwards. As soon as he landed, he saw something much worse. The shield he had turned out to be a wild Pineco. "Piiiico!" and Boom went the dynamite, quite literally. "I guess you're my new deaf Pokemon. Dammit. As soon as Lax listens, I get a new rebel. Great, just fucking great." Kent seemed happy.

"Oh, so I guess Jolteon is listening?" Kent looked up to see Tyler over him, Casper hovering around. Tyler pulled Kent up. "So, can't get any luck?"

"Nope. And I was really hoping for a new Pokemon. I heard this is the only place in Jhoto to get a Scyther. Dammit I want one of those." Tyler's gaze shifted into the distance. "Let me guess...you got one? Dang...No worries, you don't have to give it to me...I'll be fine. I swear."

"You are a terrible liar," Tyler said. "Here, take it. But I want something in exchange."

"What?" Kent gave a quizzical look. He dropped his bag in anticipation. "I got some power ups, and something I know you'll like."

"A dragon scale? How did you...oh right, your dad. Sure, but you got anything el-" Kent stopped him, before throwing a small bag to Tyler.

"A water, ghost, and Dragon power items. And the scale. Now where is the Scyther?" Tyler threw the Pokeball to Kent, a little hard.

"Scyther, come on out!....Wow...you are so awesome Tyler...I knew it was a Scyther...But a shiny one...with real scythes...real metal scythes.?"

Tyler's jaw dropped. He he was just as shocked by this revolution. It had been to dark for him to make the Pokemon out. Now he was regretting the trade. But a deal was a deal.

"So...I'm gonna call you Sciz, like that buddy?" Kent happily smiled, and petted his newest addition. "So, you gonna catch a new Pokemon? Or you wanna head in?"

"Yeah, let's go in."

Sam - Day 4, 4 PM, Bugcatching Competition

The host stared at Sam's pokemon. He stared...and stared...and stared. And stared. Was he really that stunned by her new Pokemon? She hadn't bothered to check its name, since she wouldn't want it if it was a bug Pokemon. Those often grew to ugly and lame creatures.

"Uhm, Miss?"

Sam beamed at the man inspecting her Pokemon. "Yes?"

"This isn't a bug Pokemon. Are you sure this is the one you caught here."

The huge gray armored-Pokemon-thing glanced at Sam, then at the host. It snorted and pawed the ground, as if ready to charge.

"What? I'm sure this is the one I caught here. How can it NOT be a bug Pokemon? Didn't you guys say that only bug Pokemon were in here?"

"Yes, so that can't be the Pokemon you caught."

"It is too."

"Is not." The man gestured at Kent's pokemon. "Now that's a bug. The one you caught? It doesn't even look like a bug." The man grinned, as did Kent, and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for participating. The winner of this round is Kent!"

Sam didn't even wait to hear the rest. She stomped out of there and sat in the lobby. Frustration, disbelief, anger, desperation, failure, all of these feelings rushed through her. She just sat and stared into space, never mind that she lost that Pokemon she caught back there.

Why?

Why couldn't she be a better trainer than Kent? Did she really suck that much? Sh was never going to be anything like her brother at this rate. Never.

Just then something prodded her leg. Thinking it was Kite, she waved it away with a hand and hit something hard. Kite's head, probably.

She hadn't even hatched her egg yet, and she'd gotten it way before Kent got his. Kent's Eevee had already evolved - she'd seen the Jolteon.

It nudged her leg again and Sam, annoyed, batted it away again. "Not now, Kite."

Then the thing roared, "Rhhyyy."

And she realized it wasn't Kite. Sam jumped up so suddenly at the sight of the Pokemon she caught. It must have followed her all the way back here. But why? It wasn't as if they met on good terms, nor did they spend too much time together. She only let it out of its Pokeball when the judging began.

"Rhyhorn: the Spike Pokémon. Rhyhorn is known for its physical power and its considerable offensive and defensive skills."

Sam glanced up and saw Tyler with a Pokedex in his hand. Kent was already a few steps away from the Rhyhorn, which looked as if it was ready to charge him.

"Funny. Did you really catch it back there?"

Sam nodded.

"It seems to like you."

Sam shook her head and avoided their gazes, instead chucking a pokeball at her Rhyhorn, only for it to burst out and cry.

"So. We're leaving soon. If you wanna come..." Kent gave her a quick smile then rejoined the others, who were already heading out.

Sam glanced at the four kids walking out the door. She sighed. She did miss company.

"Wait up!"

Jack Preston
3:30pm, Day 4
Goldenrod City

Thank God the Gym was open today, so there'd be no chance of bumping into her while strolling the fine city. Jack wandered the main street as Rotom hovered behind him, occasionally disappearing to possess some machine or other. Jack giggled softly as he heard the shouts of people being surprised by the techie ghost. Having just won a bunch of coins from some guy hosting a card game, he was feeling pretty good right now.

A familiar voice made him freeze. It couldn't be...
But it was. Whitney came strolling down the street, chatting with some guys. Probably a flock of fanboys, if her school days were anything to go by. Jack, panicking, ducked into the nearest house.

Inside the house, Jack realised it wasn't a house at all. He was standing in a purple tent with gold silk lining. There was a desk opposite the doorway, and Jack thought he could hear shuffling behind it.
"Hello?" he ventured. "Is someone behind there?"
A pair of eyes stared at him from the other side of the tent. Then, without warning, the owner of the eyes burst into view: a man, resplendent in a tuxedo with long tails and complete with a top hat. He grinned a wide-eyed grin at Jack as he jumped onto the desk.

"Hello, hello!" he shouted. "I am the official Name Rater! I can rate the nicknames of your Pokemon!" Ignoring Jack's muttered "Nicknames?", he took Jack's left arm, the one with the PokeGear attached, and began looking through his Pokemon summaries.
"No nicknames?" he shouted. "Surely you jest! I insist upon granting nicknames upon every one of these fine Pokemon!"

A short while later, Jack and his three Pokemon stumbled out of the tent. Citrus, Kingston and Fists followed. The Name Rater had not only suggested a bunch of names for Jack's Pokemon, ignoring Jack's protests, but had entered them into Jack's PokeGear himself. Jack wasn't sure if he liked these new names, but figured he had best get used to them, as it didn't look at all like the maniac in the tent was going to change them back.

"Ok, Lar- Kingston, and, uh... Fists, return," he said as the two flashed red and returned to their Balls. Citrus remained floating next to his head, wearing its usual vacant smile.
Jack looked at his watch. 3:45pm. The Bug-Catching contest was probably going to finish soon. Jack hurried up the main street towards the National Park...

... and ran slap-bang into a pink-haired girl. An all too familiar pink-haired girl.
"Jack Preston? Is that you?"

Kisa| 2:30pm-Day 4|Day Care farm

I watched as everyone walked away. While everyone talked of the bug competition, I had just sat back and listened. Bug pokemon had never been... my favorite.

I was a fire trainer, and my pokemon would defeat any bug in a second, so there was no use having a bug pokemon. Plus, they were weak, far too weak compared to the others of my team. But, that wasn't the only reason. I hate bug pokemon, altogether. They are ugly and stupid, and a bit scary. So going wasn't exactly what I wanted to do.

So, when everyone left, I had stayed behind without them even looking back. I don't even think they noticed I was gone. But, whatever. I had survived fine on my own before, I could do it again.

I sat on the grass outside the day care house and took out my pokemon. They always made me feel better.

"Poni, Pixi, what should we do?"

I looked to my left, and everywhere I had been. I could go back to Kurt and stay with him until my mother showed up. But it had been years, she must have settled down. I looked towards my right, towards the future. I stood and climbed on Poni, pulling Pixi back into her ball.

"Wait!"

I turned around only to see the daycare lady.

"Why are you leaving alone? Without your friends?"

I stared at her in disbelief. Why did she care?

"Because I have to find something that has been lost."

She looked down at the pokemon under her feet. My vision instantly flashed back to when me and mother were together.

We were sitting under a tree, taking a nap after trudging through the tall mountains. She gave me two berries, one for Pixi and one for myself. We were having a peaceful time when the bush behind us began to shake wildly. We were afraid, but mother prepared Pixi for battle. She was just about to call the move ember when a small human hand poked out of the bush. Then, dark hair followed, and finally a boys face. He smiled with crooked jack-o-lantern teeth and laughed. He then took a pokeball from his backpack and threw it at me.

I was only seven at the time, so the ball hit me straight in the face. He laughed then ran back to the bushes.

"Kisa, Kisa are you okay?" mother said, running to my side.

"What was that?" I asked, rubbing my head.

"A ball..." Mother bent over and picked it up. Suddenly, the ball exploded and a large, vicious pokemon flew out of it. I didn't know what it was, but later realized it was the pokemon that had chased us all along.

I flashed back.

"Hun, is there anything I can do to help?"

"No," I said, turning Poni in the right direction. "I can do this by myself."

3:00pm - Goldenrod City

I jumped off Poni and put her back in her ball. The city smelt like fire and water, mixed together in a sweet and tangy sensation that I missed. This was my mother's favorite place to be. If she were to be anywhere, I hopes it would have been here.

"Radio Tower! Visit the Radio Tower!" a man shouted as I walked down the paved walkway. It felt nice to walk on something that your shoes didn't sink in to.

I looked around in the sky and saw the radio tower in the distance. Why not check it first? It's the busiest place in the city, after all.

Yeah, the following is about to seem really random, but it was supposed to be after the Pokealthon, which I think we should skip.

Kent|4:00pm, Day 4| PokeDome

"I told you Fang could beat your Bagon," Kent laughed as he left the arena. He was chuckling a bit. Fang however was frowning, he didn't want to leave the Pokedome. It was weird, he seemed to have fallen in love with it so quickly. "Giiib! Geeeeb! Giiiiib!"

Kent glanced down. "Oh, sorry bub, you want me to carry you?" He reached for his Pokemon, but it hopped out of reach and ran back into the Pokedome. "Um, you guys go o ahead, I'll catch up."

Fang jumped up as high as he could, trying to trigger the motion detector above him. He wanted in badly. "Giiiiiib!" It finally gave up on opening the door and ran right at it, the Plexiglas made a tump, but nothing else happened. "Come on Fang, we have to go. It was just some games."

"Giiiib!" it was crying now. Gible had seen the Pokedome on TV, and during its baby days had always dreamed of doing it. (((This is what I mean by random)))

"It looks liek your friend doesn;t want to leave," Kent turned to see an old man, dressed in a blue robe. A Poliwrath was standing next to him, a mad expressions were on both of their faces. "You can;t make it go, now can ya?"

"Well, I sort of need him for my ba-"

"You need him? That doesn't sound like a real trainer. DO what it wants, not just what you want."

"Well how can I leave him here? I can;t stay, I got a league to take, man," Kent was getting ticked off, slowly but surely.

"Leave him with me," the old man held out another Pokeball. "I founded the Pokedome some years ago. I have trained many Pokemon to use their natural skills to concur challenges. Maybe you should leave him with me for awhile, until you;re done with that challenge of yours?"

Kent looked away for a second. He was torn, leaving Fang was like leaving his child. He has raised Gible from when it hatched, there was a bond between them. He didn't know if he could go on without Gible, he was the reason he decided to go for the badges, its drive and fighting spirit rubbed onto Kent. But like a father to his son, he had to do what was best. "Fine. You can train him." Kent dropped Fang's Pokeball, holding back tears as he walked away.

"Hey, kid, I think you forgot something!" Kent turned around, barley able to catch a Pokeball. "Think of it as a gift. From me to you, just train him well, okay? He's like my kid."

Kent smiled. "Can do."
__________________________

"Wait up guys!" Kent was running like the wind towards his friends. He tumbled to a stop, crashing into them.

"Watch where you're going, Jackass," Sam mumbled under he breath. "You're lucky enough I am going with you, let alone back tracking for your sorry ass."

"Yes because you are so important to me, how could I live without you?" Kent didn't leave a drop of sarcasm in the bottle."And its not just me. Max needs it too, plus Jack went there earlier, we can;t just leave the sap, he doesn't know how to find the side walk under him in Jhoto."

Sam gave Kent another look. "Doesn't mean I can;t leave you though." Kent would hit her, if she wasn't a girl. Sam, however, just hit him.

"Please stop it," Tyler said. "I'm tired of your bickering. Just give it a rest for a few minutes?"

Kent side stepped away from Sam, leaving Max and Tyler between them. "Let's just find the Gym, find Jack, and get some shiny new badges."

4:00pm, Day 4
Goldenrod City Gym

Jack and Whitney stared at one another for a long time. Whitney was expressing a sort of confused smile, Jack a suppressed snarl. People slowed as the walked past, staring at the odd scene for a few seconds before reluctantly moving on.

"Uh, Jack?" Whitney ventured. "That is you?"
Jack stared for a little longer. "Yes." he replied at last. "Long time, no see, Princess."
Whitney sighed. "I haven't gone by that particular name for a while, Jack," she said. "Come on, come to the Gym so we can talk."
She turned towards the Gym, but before she had made a move Jack had walked past her, in the same direction she was facing.
"Yes," Jack said to himself angrily, "let's go to the Gym." Citrus followed reluctantly, a look of concern on its face as it watched its Trainer.

"Right," Whitney said as she closed the door behind them. "Can I talk to you over -"
She was indicating the tables to the right, but Jack was standing on the battle arena to the left. He glared at her again.
"Come and fight me, Princess," he scowled. "See if you're as good as you always insisted you are."
"You've got it wrong, Jack," Whitney sighed. "Please, come and talk." Jack responded by walking away from her.
"I guess that's a forfeit," he said loudly. "So I can take one of these badges as my own." Before he could take another step Whitney had nearly yanked his arm off as she pulled him back.
"Stay away from the badges!" she nearly shouted. "Only I can give them out."
"Then you'll just have to keep me away from them, won't you!" Jack yelled as he threw Kingston's Premier Ball and Fists' Heavy Ball onto the field. Whitney looked at his three Pokemon and finally pulled three Balls from her pocket.

"You've forced my hand, Jack," she called as Loudred, Miltank and Clefable appeared in a flash. "But my terms are that if I win, we have to talk."
"That's fine with me," Jack muttered, "because I won't let it happen. Rotom, use Discharge!" he added, his voice rising in pitch as well as volume. The arena turned bright yellow as Citrus engulfed the stage in electricity. Kingston rushed forward and slammed the ground, burying Loudred in a Rock Tomb. As it struggled to escape, Fists, struggling against the pain of the Discharge, hit it with Arm Thrust three times in quick succession and it stopped moving.

"Clefable, Metronome!" Whitney called out, her voice as controlled as Jack's was not. "Miltank, use Milk Drink!" Miltank glowed a little for a few seconds as it healed itself; Clefable waved its arms left to right in the air and a second later, Fists went flying backwards and slammed into the opposite wall.
"Extrasensory," Whitney said under her breath. "Lucky me. Try that again, Clefable!"
"Confuse Ray, Rotom!" Jack shrieked, apparently having forgotten his Pokemons' nicknames completely. Citrus looked uneasily at Jack before unleashing a colourful beam at Clefable. Clefable stumbled about for a second or two before waving its arms again. A black ball appeared in midair and shot at Citrus. Citrus cried out pitieously as the Shadow Ball sucked it in. A second later, Citrus dropped to the ground in a dead faint.

"Just you, then, Larvitar!" Jack growled. "Headbutt Clefable! Finish it off!" Kingston flew into Clefable, who staggered back. Kingston followed it up with Bite, and Clefable fell to the ground. Whitney returned her two fainted Pokemon now that she had a breathing space, and Jack's Heavy Ball absorbed Fists as he held it out to the fainted flabby fighter.
"Can we stop this, Jack?" Whitney called, more forcefully this time. "You're out of control. Calm down, let's have a chat and let our Pokemon rest."
"You just don't think you can win," Jack growled. "Go ahead and forfeit if you want." Whitney didn't sigh this time. Her eyes were filled with resolve.

"Then we will do this your way," she said. "But you will not win. Miltank, Defense Curl."
The cow curled itself into a ball. Jack watched with a scowl.
"Larvitar, use Headbutt!" he commanded. Kingston began to throw itself against the mighty ball, but would only bounce off. "Keep hitting it!" Jack growled. "It'll take damage bit by bit." Kingston kept hitting the ball. His horn finally pierced the cow's skin and the ball shook and emitted a loud moo, though it remained curled.
"Milk Drink," Whitney said in what was almost a bored voice. The cowball glowed white again and the wound vanished. Jack's hands balled into fists.
"Win!" he screamed at Kingston. "Don't lose! Do something!" Kingston shivered as its Trainer shouted at it. This was something completely unknown to the confused and scared Pokemon. Still anxious to please him, however, it closed its eyes and strained itself, and within a few seconds a bright white glow covered it. The glow grew until in the Larvitar's place was a spiky Pupitar.

"Hahahah!" Jack laughed. "Pupitar, use - Pupitar?" For Kingston had closed its eyes and fallen over. Jack ran across to it and Citrus, having recovered from the battle, hovered across to join them.
"It used up all its energy to evolve prematurely," Whitney said sadly. "You were - I hate to say this - a bit overbearing."
Jack looked up at her, and she hastily continued. "I'm not trying to kick you when you're down! Honest. But... well, come on, your whole team needs the Pokemon Centre."
Jack's hands shook as he handed Whitney his Poke Balls, and pointed to the girl when Citrus looked at him. They walked to the doors of the Gym but, as the doors opened Jack bolted out, running south down the main street of Goldenrod as he tried to cover his streaming eyes, and pushing past Kent and the others who had just approached the front doors of the Gym.

He knew now that the Pokemon he had called his, they didn't deserve a child like him raising them. They were worthy of far better Trainers. Jack didn't stop running until he collapsed in a grassy field, and lay there on the ground panting and sobbing.
It was after a few minutes that he realised he was in the Day-Care garden, which reminded him that he had the egg. He should probably go and return it. He climbed to his feet, brushed himself off and was just about to take the egg from his bag when the Day-Care man's lawnmower charged at him. Its revs were like growls as it mowed the lawn around his feet. Jack couldn't even shout, but before he had gathered his wits the lawnmower turned itself off and Citrus appeared in front of him.
"Rotom... I-I mean, Citrus?" Jack muttered, his bloodshot eyes taking in the ghost who smiled at him, clearly not feeling any antagonism towards him. Even though he definitely deserved it. He sat in the corner of the Day-Care garden, shaking, with the blue egg on his left and Citrus lying on his right.

Kent|4"30pm, Day 4|Goldenrod City Gym

"Okay, here we are....Goldenrod gym..." Kent looked back to the others. "You guys go to the Daycare, I bet Jack is over there. I'll catch up after this."

Sam stuck her tongue out, holding out her own Plain badge. Kent did the same, holding up his Hive badge. Tyler and Max waved him away, not wanting to see another incident. "Oh, but before I go." Kent strode toward Maxine. "For the lady." Before Maxine could blink Kent kissed her on the check. And before he could move she slapped him.

Kent turned around, acting like nothing had happened, and went into the gym. Whitney was no where to be seen. There was a sign at her desk that said "Away for radio show. Be back shortly."

Kent sighed. He found the nearest punch bag, sat down, and then unhooked his belt. He wanted to figure out who he would be using for this battle. "Guys, come on out!" Five bright lights lite up the room. Kent had forgotten about his new arrival, having put it in his backpack.

"Veon, you want to battle with me?" Kent was egger to use him in a battle. "Jooool." It replied with a yawn, right before walking away and collapsing on another bag. "How about you, Sicz? I bet you could slice up anything in your way!" It too turned away. "Glide?" It was already hanging from another piece of equipment, napping. It opened one eye, and frowned. It would take time for it to get used to its new sleep schedule.

"Okay then, Lax, Pilo, you guys are up!" Pilo cheered, while Lax just tugged for another poffin.

______________

"Finally!" Kent shot up and ran to the opening doors. "I've been waiting for a half hour."

"Sorry," Whitney was blushing a bit. "Duty calls. But yes! Let's battle!" Whitney walked over to the battle field. "I could use a good battle right now. Nice and calm after a hectic show." Whitney blew a whistle and a Wigglytuff appeared. It's chest had black markings on it, with flags in both hands. It was playing referee. "Three versus three. Challenger is allowed to sub at any time."

Kent swore under his breath. He only had two Pokemon who would listen to him. Hopefully they would last. He was missing Fang already. "PIlo, you're up first!"

Kent knew Whitney would have a Miltank in her team. It was her signature Pokemon, Pilo would be able to take the cow out, easy. Sadly, it would not get the chance, yet.

"Granbull, come on out!" Whitney proceeded to release one of the ugliest Pokemon known to man. The purple dog, somehow, had become uglier during evolution. Somehow it also was a favorite amount some older women, who praised its adorable face. It was only them, though.

"Pilo, start this battle off, Avalanche!” Piloswine instantly began to glow bright white, its fur was slowly covered by a pile of ice and snow. It barreled right towards Granbull. Whitney commanded it to hit back.

Granbull charged towards Piloswine, it was glowing a bright blue. Kent blinked, and that was enough to miss what had happened. Granbull had literally thrown Pilo into the air, flipped it around, and sent it spiraling down to the ground. The power of Superpower.

Kent sighed and returned Pilo to his Pokeball. “Munchlax, you’re up!” Kent was not feeling confident right now. Munchlax was good, he knew that much, but would it be good enough to take on three Pokemon.

“Lax, go in with a body slam!” The blog took off in a dash, a jiggling blur in the air. The blog erupted like a wave on contact, covering Granbull’s face. “Now, use snore to finish it off!” A blast of sound hit Granbull head, or rather ear, on, blast it backwards. It’s sensitive ears were taking it hard. It collapsed, unable to battle. Kent smiled before throwing a poffin to Lax. “Keep it up little man!”

“You’re of Be-Be!” Whitney let out another ugly Pokemon Imagine a gopher, got it? Now, picture the hulk. Got it? Okay, NOW picture the Hulk not muscle, but fat. Make him a gopher, and you got Bibarrel.

“Munchlax, use bodyslam on that thing! And repeat it till I say so!” Munchlax charged at Be-Be, his little feet moving like motors. Before it even retched it though he was blasted backwards by a gusher of water. Kent swore again. “Use rollout!” Again Lax was simply blasted away. “Lax, you got anything else?” Kent felt so low having to ask his Pokemon to tell him. “LAX!” It nodded furiously, before it’s’ head began to glow blue. It then charged, again.

“Wow, you know Zen headbutt, kickass!” Kent whipped out his Pokedex. He had never bothered to check Lax’s moves. “Okay then…now I got a plan.” Kent was smiling now. Lax had finally landed a solid hit. “Lax, jump on its back and give it a good old thunder punch!” Lax flipped in front of Be-Be and nailed it right in the face. “And follow it up with a Gunk Shot!” Lax burped, letting loose a toxic blob right at Be-Be. And it was out of there.

Whitney wasn’t happy now. “You won’t be smiling in a second. Miltank here can take any of your Pokemon on!”

“Well, Lax right over here can take anything on, you just try it,” Kent was terrible at trash talk.

Kent| 4:45-Day 4| Goldenrod Gym

"Miltank, finish it off with one more rollout!" Kent shut his eyes, not wanting to see his defeat happen. Lax was out. He didn't have any Pokemon who would fight for him. Bye-Bye third badge, hello Sam's mockery. Kent sighed, and called back Lax. He was about call out his defeat, when he remembered Fang. Or rather the lack of Fang. He felt like he was forgetting something. He knew he was forgetting something....The trade!

Kent dropped down and began to dig through his backpack. He threw his supplies out in piles, berries began to flood the floor. Finally Kent found it. A simple red and white Pokeball, with, hopefully, his last shot at a victory. "I hope you got some tricks up your sleeves...whatever you are."

"We battling, or are you making me dinner?" Whitney called from her spot. Kent waved her away. He stufffed his stuff back in his bag, and finally returned Lax.

"Come on out!: Kent was hoping for a huge Pokemon...like a Magmorator, or a Legendary. Kent wasn't sure what he saw, though. "Poli...Crooood!" A green frog was in front of Kent, a large grin, doing a small happy dance. Kent wavered off his feelings and charged into battle. He quickly scanned it with his Pokedex before settling on a nice, strong, first move. "Go in with a Hyper voice!"

"Pooooooooooli!" Politoad jumped into the air and sent a blast of colored notes toward Miltank. It merely bounced off Miltank, though, with little effect. If any. Miltank, however, made a lot of damage with it's next Rollout. Luckyily, none of it was on Politoad. The Mad ball was beginning to tear the arena apart with it's attacks. One after another, the field was slowly being lowered, unevenly.

Politoad seemed to be fine with it. The scattered holes had no affect on it's jumping, it masterfully avoided every hit that came toward it. Kent smiled, he had a plan now. "Politoad, drop a few ice balls down, anywhere." It croaked in reply and followed up by making it's hands grow pure white. Miltank, in it's now blind rage, didn't notice the balls, and Whitney was unable to calm it down. She was screaming to get it to stop. Bad thing about rollout, after awhile, your Pokemon just becomes a ball.

Miltank slowly scooped up the ice in front of it. The pile collected, rolling with it. Whitney was beginning to give Kent a questioning look. "What are you planing?" "You'll see. _Politoad, go in with a combo Hyper Voice and Bubble beam!" Politoad let out a wild croak, unleashing a combined glowing notes, all wrapped in side of bubbles. They slowly drifted above the field. Then, BAM!

All at once the bubbles popped, dropping the powered notes onto the field. They exploded, making small pot holes across the field. At the same time the ice balls at hit the point, and were beginning to melt into mush balls. Miltank lost it's balance right away, and went rolling in a mess. it finally stopped in the middle of a pothole. It was done.

Tyler| 4:40, Day 4| Day Care Farm

"Ah, so that's where he went," Tyler pointed towards Jack. He was laying down on the farm's field, just looking out to nowhere. Jack, and Sam and Max, all ran towards him. Then a sound made them stop short. A big ol' lawn mower appeared from the back end of the field, charging their way. Worse though, right towards Jack. It was too loud to scream, they could only hope he could move, or the Old man would stop.

They got lucky. The old man was able to kill the power in time. Tyler sprinted over to Jack. "Are you okay?"

Jack nodded, though he was shaking. "Yeah...I think I'll live." He got up, still shaking.

'Where did you run off too?" Sam blurted out. Jack looked away for a second.

"I went to get my badge," Jack mumbled, just loud enough to be heard.

"I take it didn't go too well," Same said. She backed up.

"YO!" Kent suddenly appeared behind them, sprinting, cheering and jumping. "Guess who just got his 3rd badge!?!?!" Kent was oblivious.

Samuelle Park - 4:50 PM, Daycare Center

Sam ignored Kent. Jack just dropped his gaze, focusing on the egg beside him. He was still shaking, but Sam didn't know whether he was afraid or if he was just furious at Kent.

"Don't mind him," Sam murmured to Jack. "He's...him."

"You guys should have seen the fight. My new pokemon squashed Whitney! I beat her in one try!"

Sam's fists balled up. Okay. So he was pushing it. She shut her eyes and prayed he would shut up, but he didn't. He kept gloating. On and on and on he went about how awesome his battle against Whitney went. Finally, Sam just couldn't take it anymore. She swung a fist and hit Kent smack on the jaw - probably because he was busy jumping around and replaying his fight with Whitney.

"Shut up!" she yelled. So what if he beat her because he had a ton of Pokemon? She beat Whitney too, and she had less Pokemon than Kent did. That meant she was better than him, right? Meant she was more awesome. That he didn't have anything on her.

Kent stayed on the ground, stunned, his wide eyes trained on Sam, who quaked with rage.

"Uhh...Sam? Are you all right?" Tyler asked.

Sam realized her eyes were hot with tears. She wiped them away with the back of her hand. Stupid Kent. "Do you always have to go around and brag about how awesome you are at battles?! We get it, all right? So quit yapping and just shut up."

As she stomped off, she heard Kent mutter, "What's up with her?"

So she was touchy about being not-so-good at battles. So she didn't want to be second to Kent. So she couldn't be first. So WHAT? He didn't have to shove it in her face the whole time. She understood that the first time she lost to him.

Some dying sense of optimism in her told her to stay strong, to keep battling Kent and getting better though. As she slipped out of the daycare a familiar face approached. Horrified, Sam rushed back inside, wiping her tears furiously away.

The three boys looked up at her. Neither Tyler nor Jack was helping Kent up, and the jerk still lay on the floor, rubbing his jaw. Kent tensed when he saw Sam.

"Come here to punch me again?"

"You look scared. Saw something?" Tyler's eyebrows furrowed and he frowned.

Yes, she saw something. Or rather, someone. Just then the bells of the daycare tinkled and there were loud shouts of joy and Sam vaguely heard the words "champion" and "celebrate".

A sinking feeling in her stomach told her she knew who it was, but she refused to admit it. He didn't see her...did he?

Kent quickly scrambled up, confirming Sam's fears.

"Holy Pikachu - it's Abel." Kent said in awe.

Was there anyone anywhere in the world who didn't know her brother? Sam kept her back to him, praying he wouldn't recognize her after years of no contact. She couldn't let him see her like this - a weak, crappy trainer.

"Sam?"

...Crap. Sam turned around to face her brother with a stiff smile. "Hey."

Luckily the daycare couple appeared, carrying a tray of tea and milk. "I thought you'd like champagne, but there are kids so," the old man chuckled.
"The moral of this story, is that if I cause a stranger to choke to death for my amusement, what do you think I’ll do to you if you don’t tell me who ordered you to kill Colosimo?“

Kent| 5:10, Day 4| Day Care Farm

Wow. Kent was going insane. THE Abel was there with him. Kent would never admit it, but he was inspired by Abel to become a trainer. After seeing him take Lance on at the Pokemon League he wanted to do the same. Even his team dripped with awesome. Kent was too stunned to think, speak and even listen. He just stood there, like his usually idiotic self. Finally it hit Kent, what Abel had said.

"Sam?"

Why was he talking to Sam? How did he know Sam? Why hadn't Sam mentioned she knew the famous Abel? Why? How? Where? When? So many questions, too little time. The day care couple suddenly emerged into the room, carrying drinks. Kent quickly grabbed two glasses of each. His throat needed moister, quick.

Kent finally said something. "So, Abel how-" He was cut off quickly, by the Day care couple who pushed them into the next room.

"We sit when we talk. Relax. Be comfy." The day care lady was running around, fluffing pillows and making the room look nice. "Abel. Nice to see you again. Your Espeon has been having a great time with us. I assume you came to pick it up?"

"Of course. I am about to have a rematch with Lance, and wanted it with me," Abel switched his gaze to Sam. 'What a strange surprise, though." Abel got up and hugged Sam, seemingly out of no where. "How's it going, Sis?"

Kent literally fell out of his seat. What the heck? Sam was Abel's sister. She was related to Abel. How the heck did that happen? How did Abel, such a perfect trainer, become the brother of Sam...such a nothing, Kent thought.

"Enough of this small talk!" Kent got up. "Abel, would you mind showing us your team?" Kent was on his knees, almost begging. "At the very least, would you judge mine?"

Abel was taken back, but nodded. Kent ran out the door, pushing Abel with him. "You first, I want to see that team." Abel nodded, with a slight chuckle. He unzipped his jacket, revealing his team.

"Poli!" "Sauur! "Chuu!" "Laaaax!" "Areo!" "Gyraa!" Kent, and Jack and Tyler, all stood in awe. They were impressed at the confident, intelligent, and powerful team. They just had an aurora of epic. The, out of the blue, an Espeon ran toward them.

‘Wow,” was all Kent could say. He followed by letting his Pokemon out, as did Tyler, and Jack, and Max. The only one who didn’t was Sam. “Come on Sam, show him your team!” Kent walked up to Sam, who was shuffling uncomfortably.

“I’ll pass,” She said.

“Come on, he’s your brother!” Kent almost grabbed Sam’s Pokeball himself.

“I said no, you jackass,” Sam said. Abel gave a glare towards Kent.

Meanwhile all the Pokemon were having fun with each other. Kent’s Gliscor seemed to get along with Aerodactyl, and Munchlax was happily lying with Snorlax, Miltank was doing the same. Politoad had taken a liking to Polwrath already, and the two were smiling and seemingly talking. All the water types were swimming happily in the pool. Jolteon and Pikachu were zapping each other playfully.

“So, what do you think of my team?” Kent asked eagerly. Abel gave a glance towards Sam before answering.

“It sucks.”

“What…what do you mean they suck?” Kent was frantic. “They got me three badges that is far from suck, dude!”

Abel gave Kent a glare. It was obvious he didn’t like him, probably because of what Sam thought of him. “Your team isn’t well trained. Your team might be able to handle their own, but they are unorganized, and they aren’t ready for anything harder than a gym battle or two.”

Kent was fuming. He may have looked up to Abel, but he also had a big, and fragile ego. “WHY I OUTTA!” Kent grabbed his Pokeballs. “Team, return!” Kent charged towards Abel.

“I bet I could wipe the floor with your team!”

Abel just laughed. “Just one of my Pokemon could take all of yours on. At once.”

“We’ll see about that. I challenge you.” Abel was now laughing so hard he almost fell over.

“You’re on, Punk.”

________________

“You use two Pokemon at once, and I’ll use one,” Abel said. Kent nodded. He knew, deep down, he had no chance, but it was too late to back down. He couldn’t.

“Veon! Pilo! You guys first!”
