Lament of Innocence

TARRION

I choked back another wave of tears when she said that. She was unbelievable. There was a bit of her blood on my chest now, but what did it matter? I wiped her mouth and chin gently and kissed her forehead. I wanted to say something, but I couldn't choke out the words.

"Well?!" I demanded. No way was she walking back. I got that sick feeling at the back of my throat. Telling me that if I wasn't careful, Selene wouldn't be the only one puking up blood.

Selene
I smiled at Tarrion weakly his face going blurry. "Take it easy Tar." I said my throat raw. He looked at me in disbelief I could practically hear his voice 'Your telling me to take it easy.' I nodded still smiling. "My life isn't worth living without you or any of you." I said gesturing at everyone my vision going even more blurry.

TARRION

I don't think I have ever met anybody quite like Selene. She amazed me. Everybody seemed frozen on the spot. It was actually making me mad.

"I love you Selene," I murmered. Finally! I had said it. She knew it already, but I hadn't had the guts to actually speak it. Especially not in front of Tig.

She smiled at me weakly.

Selene
I smiled weakly at Tar. "I know and I have known that for quite some time Tarrion you didn't have to say it I can see it in your eyes and in your actions but still it's really nice to hear it." I said closing my eyes sinking into the blessed darkness of unconciousness.

TARRION

I bit my lip as she fell into unconciousness. If nobody else would carry her, I would. I swung her up, not unexpecting to the pain that coursed my body. I groaned loudly, but didn't let go.

"Tar, you really, really shouldn't carry her. Doesn't it hurt?" Kale whispered, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I turned my head to face him. "Yes, it hurts! I'm going to kill myself carrying her back!" I didn't mean to sound mean, it was more or less just pain.

"Let Tig take her. I'll help you out," he muttered.

I nodded. Tigger didn't look eager to carry Selene back, but he didn't argue either.

Tigger:

I should have known this would result in this, me having to carry a bloody body back to the castle. And plus, this chick was heavy.

Everyone started walking back to the castle, Aris and Kale held some conversation up ahead, but Tarrion stayed back to make sure I didn't drop his beloved.
"Calm down," I laughed at him, "I won't drop her." He raised an eyebrow at me. "Well, I must admit, if we start to get chased by soldiers, Ms.Sele here is getting a face full of dirt." He gasped and made a move to take her from me. "Joking! I would never, I don't hate her."
"Whatever," he snapped at me, "just please don't even think about dropping her."
"I won't," I mumbled, "she did help save me after all. It's the least I can do."

"Guys," I whined, "I'm tired! Can't we sleep somewhere?" Aris yawned and leaned on Kale's drooping shoulders. We've been walking fora while now and my arms and legs were burning.
"I agree with Tig," someone said. I couldn't see who because I closed my eyes, but it had to be one of the boys. Kale maybe?
"I agree with Tigger too," I said. "Can we please make a stop. Please!"

Aris

"I think that's a good idea," I said finally. "We can't drop dead of exhaustion, it's going to bite us in the butt later on," I added. Kale laughed, but it was interrupted by a yawn.

Tigger set Selene down and Tarrion immediately went beside her, murmering something.

"Not for too long though," said Kale. "We don't want to be caught."

"All I don't want to do is keep walking," Tigger called out.

I quickly walked up to Selene. "How is she, Tar," I asked.

Kale

I followed Aris. Selene looked bad- I didn't need my father to tell me that much, if he had been here- if he had ever been there.

Ok, Kale, slow down, no family fueds here, I quickly told myself. You have a new family now, and they're a lot better than him.

"She's bad," Tarrion said, his eyes frightened for Selene. "Kale, can you do anything else?"

"Not without my Dad," I said, hating the fact I couldn't help anymore.

TARRION

"Not without my dad," Kale muttered. Great.

"Nothing? No herbs to take down the pain or special massages?" I asked hopefully. I turned and brushed some hair out of her face.

"Sorry," Kale murmered.

I wondered if she was in more pain than I was. Probably. I kissed her temple lightly, unsure of what I should be doing.

"Yep. So much thanks for carrying back your beloved. Your very welcome," Tigger whined.

"Yes, thank you Tig," I muttered. I didn't really have much patience for him right now. I wasn't tired anymore. Nothing else to do.

Selene
I was in pain no I was a mass of pain pure undiluted disabling pain but I was good at putting up with pain so it was manageble. I groaned and forced myself to sit up ignoring the twinges of pain that it caused. "Selene how are you doing?" Tarrion asked his voice full of relief. "Well I am one throbbing mass of pain I think the bleeding is slowing down which means I'm dying or the wound is healing and the arrow. Meh..." Here I wriggled around a little bit. "I think its actually working it's way out." I said my face set with a very grim smile.

TARRION

That weak smile made me want to wring somebody's neck; preferably a guard's. The arrow was quite loose, but even I knew enough about deep injuries not to pull it out. Pulling it out could cause bleeding to death.

"You never cease to amaze me Selene," I whispered, kissing her lightly on the lips.

Her smile broadened a bit and actually made it to her eyes. "I'm really not that amazing," she murmered.

I grinned. "You're kidding me right? You're extraordinary my dear." The last part sounded strange, but I liked the way it felt. I kissed her lightly again, not caring whether the others were awake to see or not.

Aris

I felt helpless.

I despised feeling helpless.

It was the one thing in life I couldn't stand. I had to take action. It was why I had gotten us away from the castle with Rajun, it was why I needed to figure out how to get Selene to Kale's father now.

"Tarrion," I said hurriedly, "We need to talk."

TARRION

I looked up from Selene for a moment. "Umm...okay," I muttered. Was she mad at me again? I rose slowly and followed her into the bushes.

What on earth did she want to talk about? She couldn't be mad...she obviously loved Kale. Kale the moron who couldn't figure it out. I smirked. Where was he anyways?

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking into her eyes. They were swarmed with concern.

Aris

"We need to figure something out," I said, quietly so no one else could hear. "How we can get Selene help, and... what we can do about this." I gestured towards everything. "We keep getting hurt, we're always on the run, I just want it to stop, Tarrion, and we need to figure out some way to do it." I looked towards him and said, straightforward, "After we're done with helping Selene, I'm going to go try to kill the King and Queen. And I don't want you to try to help me, or to tell anyone."

"Why'd you tell me, not Kale?" he asked.

"Kale would come," I said immediately, looking down, "And that can not happen under any circumstances, do you hear? I can't bear to lose him. Don't make me go through what you did with Selene."

TARRION

She wanted to what ?! "You can't go after the king and queen alone! Are you nuts?!" I hissed, trying to keep my voice low.

"It's plausable, yes," She muttered. I rolled my eyes.

"Look, just because I'm not in love with you, doesn't mean I don't love you Aris. No way are you going alone! Oh, and don't take Tig either. The look in his eyes around guards creeps me out." No way was I letting her go.

"I have to! I-"

I didn't let her finish. "What happens if you get cut up or you end up dead? You want to put Kale through what Selene put me through? That's not the greatest way to get a man there Aris." I was going to talk her out of it whether she liked it or not.
