Charcoal drawings

First time experimenting with charcoal... I like it, haha.

I don't know about this one... I like it but the eyes are too big and the nose is awkward. At the last moment I tried to make her kind of fatish, but it didn't work...



Yes, her face was ugly, I shaded it out. I like the shading and the wrinkles.



Excuse the gross lines around the leaves. Charcoal is hard to erase...



Yes, I cropped it. The bottom two leaves were nasty! haha



I have a strange attachment to this one... I love doing close-up eyes. Eyes are so beautiful...

I really like the first one and the last. Good job! I've used charcoal in my art class, and I'm pretty horrible at it xD
And it can be erased with just a normal pencil eraser. Try it

How are you? I told you I'd review these, now here I am. I like your style, and I think you feel really comfortable working with this medium. Obviously there are still some mistakes, but if you practice the skill, you could get really, really good.

#1 - As a whole, I think it's your best drawing of this collection. She's very pretty, and has an innocent, distant look that reminds me somewhat of the Disney Princesses. I wish I knew what exactly what she was thinking, but I can tell by her expression that's she's very hopeful.

#2 - This one is actually my least favorite. I understand that you didn't like the face, but try to do a better job of erasing. You can get special charcoal erasers, you know. The smudge marks go out of the face and it looks really sloppy.

#3 - Actually, I'll have to disagree with you. When I first saw it, I thought the shading was on purpose - it creates the illusion of a glassy, ice-like look, and it's a serene image to take it. This is an all around good-one.

#4 - This isn't the best, but it's not too bad either. What's it supposed to represent? It looks like some kind of flower, but I can't really place it. Also, I don't think the shading around doesn't compliment it like it did with the last photo. Rather then being real, this one looks like a sketch of a painting.

#5 - Simply beautiful. It kind of reminded me of a scene they got in Titanic when she was flashing back to the drawing scene. I can't think of anything wrong with it; it's so serene and beautiful.

Anyway, girl, I think you're a really talented artist, so keep at it!

Hey Classy! Good job on your first charcoal exploration. You go pirate!

Here's what I thought:
1: I thought it was the bangs that made it sort of awkward. They kind of start at a weird place in my opinion.

2: You captured the body well, even if you messed up on the face. The feet are a bit odd though, sort of like bricks.

3: I like the lines around the leaves, it gives a magical feel to it, like a shadow or smoke maybe.

4: ehhh... not so crazy about this one. There are visible circles near the top of the flowers, maybe if you smeared it out a little, like the way you did it for the rest of the pics, it gave an illusion of light.

5: The eye is amazing. You're really good at eye close-ups.
