A really wierd poem I thought up. :D

It Has To Be...

It has to be the best.
It has to be in stanzas.
It has to have a point.
It has to be correct.

It has to be punctuated.
It has to make sense.
It has to be a sonnet or rather like Shakespeare
It has to be magnificent

Maybe just once it wont be the best.
It wont be magnificent or have the right sound.
I want to be different.
I want to be unconventional.

I want to be unlike the rest.
I want to not be like Shakespeare or anyone else.
I want to the girl who writes really bad poems.
So, if you don't like this you have to understand.

It has to be original.....Originality can be wrong but so is being wrong in its self.

i think this poem is kind of annoying because... basically what you are saying is that you are too good to pay attention to other poetry. If you want to write bad poems, then you will. Don't tell us you want to be different... BE different.

That said, I think you touch on something interesting: you're frustrated by accepted conventions of poetry, what it 'has to be.' I'm disappointed that you expressed your frustration in this way, but it is certainly a start.

But enough about content, the repetition, for me, was boring. I'd like to see some sensory details some things. The ending was weak... it lacked the proper punch for piece about frustration. I think you need to read a lot more... in order to find out what not to do, how to write something different and still be taken seriously.

I kind of agree with perdido. This poem makes me pity the writer. Why is her voice and tone like this? Is this your voice, or a character's voice?

What is the story behind this? What is its purpose? I don't see one at all, other than to belittle readers. I mean, it could be inspirational, telling people that they have to be original and not do what others do. But, the tone you use and the words you use just make it sound like you think you're better than everyone else. If you're trying to tell people to be themselves, you definitely need to take a softer tone with this.

I do appreciate your originality, though. :)

Lol! No, it doesn't have to be the best and it doesn't have to be correct. I like what Scott Adams said about it:

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."

With that said, don't be content with bad poetry. Bad poetry is like drowning. Yeah, there will be different things going through your mind while you drown compared to someone else who is drowning... but you never can express yourself. Only when you can sing can your words really dance. ;)

Good luck with poetry! :D

Firstly I didnt write this to make it seem like I am much better than everyone because....I'm not.

And I wrote this because I was frustrated with writing horrible poetry and I got really pisse-Angry and so I vented with this poem....so yeah.

This was something like me. My attitude may seem like I think I'm better than everyone else but truly I just want to stick out like an ugly in new pretty town(even in the bad way as long as I'm different). But I do like it because it was different and origional. But remember, just because you got a couple of bad reviews it dosent mean crap as long as you like it. i do!

I like this poem and what it's about. Even though i do agree with some of the other comments, i also think that they are sort of missing the point. Writing is about saying what you feel, it's not about following rules, and i like that you did just that, you wrote a poem about how you felt.

I didn't really pick up on whatever tone you were trying to displaying that others pointed out, but I didn't think it was necessarily saying that the poet thought they were better than everyone else... At least, in my understanding.

I felt it was more kind of what we all feel like when writing poetry. When we write one we want to make it a poem that people will like, that people will want to read, and such. We strive and want to write this poem, and so we do a lot of things to try and make it that way. Hence the, "It has to be," because we all know you can't please everyone at the same time. For it to "be" that sort of poem,

"It has to be the best.
It has to be in stanzas.
It has to have a point.
It has to be correct.

It has to be punctuated.
It has to make sense.
It has to be a sonnet or rather like Shakespeare
It has to be magnificent"

And if it isn't then it won't be.

All and all I wasn't particularly thrilled about the piece. I liked the beginning, but the ending wasn't so fun. I think the long line at the end threw it off. Maybe try shortening it. Unless that would make it look choppy... I dunno, lol.

It's kind of funny, because you say, "It has to be punctuated," yet you don't have very good punctuation.

I think you should only use the Shakespeare line once, and take out the line, "I want to be the girl who writes really bad poems." For me, that just ruins the whole poem.

This poem has a really good concept, and is very original. Great job!

Keep on writing,

Er....guys I wrote this a while ago. And uhm...I didn't expect that it would be reviewed ages after I have written it. It's so embarrassing reading rubbish that I wrote a long time ago -.- I had completely forgotten about this poem. And thanks for the feedback. *goes back to the past to stop herself from ever writing it and fails*

I found it rather, standing-up-for-yourself(y) lol.
Yeah It is good to be original.
But everybody should be different and let people inspire them.

Hi AngerManagement,

Wow! Yeah, there were a few issues with this poem, but it had a really strong message! The message basically was, its ok to make mistakes and that you just want to write what you want to write, even if its wrong, or even if it has its imperfections! Good stuff!

But, here are the things you may want to fix up if you want to emphasise the message. The repitition in the first two stanzas gets annoying, so maybe change them a bit. I like how you're expressing your disappointment on what a poem "has to be" rather than what it "should be". Explain the stanzas more. Why do are you disappointed with what a poem has to be rather than what it should be? Explain your frustrated or angered emotions compared to the happy and relaxed ones you have when your writing your own thing.

With a bit more work, this'll be good! Best wishes!
