Hello everyone! My name is Chris. I'm new here and I am very excited to get started. I love to write (obviously), and read. My favorite writers are: Hemingway, Twain, Steinbeck, Vonnegut, Nabakov and Salinger. From where I come from it is hard to find other people (my age) who enjoy writing. Please comment back. My favorite movie(s): 2001: A Space Odyssey, Fight Club, In Bruges and Donnie Darko.

Favorite Music: I love anything really but I am not a fan of classical or country music. Right now I'm really into folk/indie music like: Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, Wilco and The Mystic Valley Band, Damien Rice and She & Him.

Favorite food: Anything pasta related. Italian food is magnificient!

Genre: I love writing fiction. I am into writing realistic stories inspired by my experiences as well as other's experiences.

Hey, I'm really happy that I found other people who can relate to the struggles of being a writer. Yeah, Steinbeck is great! Grapes of Wrath is great but I like his shorter fiction like Tortilla Flat, Cannery Row and his short story: The Chrysanthemums.

Awesome! I'm excited to read some of your material.

Have you ever read East of Eden by Steinbeck? It has been one of my favorite books, but I kind of don't remember it, so I'm re-reading it. I think it's great if you like books really centered around characters and their experiences (which I think you do, since that's what you said you like to write about), and it's LONG and FULL of lives (I think it spans at least three generations).

Steinbeck, eh? I have, of course, studied Of Mice and Men in school. It made me cry, I have to say! Loved it, but I haven't read anything else of his. Might be a good idea.

Mmm, folk/indie music and pasta. I approve.

Also, what kind of realistic situations or experiences do you like to write about? Do you err to the sadder side, or the happy side? Or do you write about anything that takes your fancy? I like realistic stories myself, but I love ready fantasy because it's so interesting.

So, if you were put on a desert island, what three things would you take with you? What would you drink for the rest of your life, and what would you eat?
