Ollie

"Hey," I said, looking at Alison.

I walked into the room before sitting down on her sofa.

"I'm screwed. I can't do this 'omework at all!" I laughed.

"Don't worry, I'll help you." She smiled.

Alison and I began doing the homework. Well, I tried doing it anyway. Alison was leaning on the coffee table, while I was just doing it on my lap.

I wanted to bring up Peter, but then again, I really didn't. Maybe he wouldn't turn up? If he did, it would be awkward. I hadn't spoken to him since... well, what happened the other day. Twenty or so minutes later, I'd relaxed. Peter wasn't going to show up. It was almost four o clock now.

"Can I have sumit to eat?" I asked, putting my work down.

"Yeah, sure." Alison replied.

"Do you 'ave any ore..." I began.

"Hey guys," Peter spoke slowly, standing in the doorway.
I didn't know what to put here so I put this.

I looked up in surprise as Emily came over. "Hey Alison, we should talk," she said. I knew instantly what she wanted to discuss. I waited for her to start the topic.

"I saw that you know about Ollie and Pete," she said slowly, her eyes on mine. I nodded seriously. "And I wanted to explain that right now, neither of them are really comfortable about it."

"So...they weren't...aware of the fact before?"

"I don't know," she said with a shrug. "But, anyways, I just want you to be aware that it's not something to talk about with them."

I nodded. "I wasn't planning on it."

"Okay," she said, seeming relieved. "Well, thanks."

"No, thank you." I was impressed by the way that Emily had addressed the whole matter, keeping it respectful for everyone involved. "Hey, are you taking Psych? We're going to be working on our homework."

She shook her head ruefully. "Nope."

"Oh." I racked my brain quickly. "Well, do you want to get together some time after school?"

A smile spread across her face. "I'd like that," she said, and then walked away with a "See you!"

No sooner had she disappeared from sight than Ollie arrived. We started on the homework; well, Ollie seemed to be, and though I looked for all the world like a focused student, my mind was racing. So many conflicting thoughts were whirling through my head. I was dreading the arrival of Peter.

But as the minutes ticked by, I started to relax. He was late; he probably wouldn't show after all. Ollie and I were just starting to joke and talk about getting something to eat, when a voice said, "Hey guys." I turned, and saw Peter standing right there.

I was parked in front of the library and knew that both Alison and Ollie would probably be waiting for me. I thought about ditching, but then again I made a promise to Alison. So pushing my awkward feelings aside about Ollie I exited my car, my Psychology book in hand and headed inside.

"Hey guys," guys I approach them slowly and took a seat next to Alison across from Ollie.

"You made it!"Alison cheered.

"Yea, sorry I'm late," I replied.

"Hey Pete," Ollie said softly.

"Hey," our eyes connected and my heart thundered my chest.

A long pregnant pause passed between us."Hey guys, um... I have to go to the ladies room for a sec. I'll be right back.,"Alison awkwardly announced before leaving us alone.

"Um mm...........," I began shyly, I really hadn't planned anything to say when we ever came face to face again."Ollie we need to kinda talk."

I walk into the school, angry with my mother for moving in the middle of the school year, all my friends are back in Florida, with people they actually know. I had asked my mom why we had to move to Texas, of all places? 'Because your father always hated it here, so he'll quit bothering me about wanting you.' had been her immediate reply. I liked my dad, but I knew better than to complain. Now here I was in this strange new place, and I knew no one! Mothers can be so blind sometimes, either that or she doesnt care how miserable I am. I look down the hall, lockers and doors everywhere. No one is in the hall, wonderful, I'm late. I glance at my schedule, I have Algebra II first, lovely, I get to start out on the wrong foot with a math teacher! Algebra II is in room MTH302. "Crap, how am I supposed to find that?" I mumble to myself.

Lance:
"Jeez," I mumbled, rubbing my head. Lydia was going on about how some freshman nearly killed her, so, natrually, I was forced to listen.
"....so I asked why he was running..." I sighed and looked around the hallway. A girl was standing with a piece of paper in her hand, looking around nervosly. I nudged Lydia.
" Who's that," I whispered. She just shrugged and started towards her.
" Hey," she trilled," you new here?" The girl laughed and waved the piece of paper timidly.
" Howd you know?"
" Well," I spoke up," 1.No one carries schedules. 2. You look pretty lost and 3. Schools over." She flushed red and looked around.
" Really," she stammered.
" Yeah," Lydia said, giggling a bit," we only had a half day of school today." I smiled and bit and shook my head.
" Oh, I feel stupid," she mumbled. " I'm Catherine, by the way."
" Lydia."
" Lance."
There was a small silence as I jingled my keys in my pocket.
" Well," I drawled," we should probably-"
" Oh no," she suddenly shreiked," my mom won't be back to pick me up until the normal end of school."
" We could drop you off," Lydia smiled. I just shrugged while she bit her lip thoughtfully.
" Well, if you decide to," I started," our car is the black volvo." I slowly started to walk off. It wasn't long before both girls were walking behind me.

School is over, even better, now I look like a complete fool, I follow him to the car, wondering why their names just happen to start with the same letter, how many couples do you know likw that? I see the Volvo, and wonder whether I should get in the front or back. The other girl get in front, so i open the back door and get in."Mom will kill me when she sees this, riding in a strangers car, telling them where I live, this is wonderful. If dad knew mom had me here, he would ask for complete custody of me, and I could live with him in Florida instead of here." I mutter to myself.

It seems like forever in the car, Lydia and Lance spent the whole time talking quietly to each other, suddenly Lance looked at me in the mirror and asked, "So where do you live, anyway?"
"The Blue Star Appartments," I mumble, about time he asked. I continue to look out the window thinking of how I'm supposed to fit in here, in Texas. The other two continue to talk quietly, the car stopped,
"Here you are." Lance said. I quickly got out, and hurried inside with my things, up the stairs and into the appartment, I igored mom's questioning stare as I practically ran to my room threw down my bag, and collapsed, miserable, on the bed. Ruined my first day, wonderful. I threw off my heels, angry at mom, at myself, everything always went wrong for me when things changed. Making myself look like a freak as always. "Catherine Silver, why are you back so soon?"
"Because it was a HALF DAY!" I had failed in controlling my anger, and my sentence ended in a yell.
"I know this is hard for you, but just try to get throught it, for me." Mom was obliviouse to the fact that I had made a fool of myself infront of people, and they would probably spread the word of my stupidity.
" I just need to be alone!" I moaned, feeling worse than ever.
"Alright, just call me if you need me."
I mumbled unintelegablly, and lay there for hours before I fell asleep.

I woke up in the morning, still in my clothing from the day before, I made the mistake of looking in the mirror, "Ugh! I'm a mess!" I brushed my hair, and went to my closet, after some time staring at it, I decided on my favorite Aeropostale shirt, some jeans, and my blue ballet flats. I grabbed my stuff and ran out the the door. I fet stupid for not asking mom for a ride. I got there, and put my stuff up. Seeing Lydia and her brother, I walked over to them, "Hi, you drove me home yesterday remember?"

I stared at Peter. We need to talk? Couldn't we just leave it? I wasn't good with talking. The fact that I knew what was coming made the thought even worse. Why did Alison have to leave? I swear I was cursed...

I continued to sit there silently like a complete idiot. Okay, you're being stupid, I thought to myself. Just be mature about this.

"I know," I sighed, looking down.

Without saying anything else, Peter came and sat next to me. His leg was gently touching mine. I looked up at him. He really was hot...

"I like you..." Peter hesitated slightly. "I really like you. But I... I like Alexis. I don't understand. I don't know how to feel."

I genuinely felt sorry for him. I'd completely messed up his head. I always screwed people's lives up. That was something my dad was right about. I knew that Peter wasn't gay; he was just confused. He loved Alexis, I knew that. Deep down, he knew that as well. I just came along and screwed everything up; classic me.

I was about to say something when Peter slowly began moving in towards me. He closed his eyes. His cool lips then brushed against mine, merely skimming them. Carefully, he began moving them. Before I allowed my lips to move, I quickly pushed him off me.

"Pete, you ain't gay." I said, standing up. "You know you ain't."

His face looked offended. His eyes told another story though; he knew I was right.

Emily

"Oh, well do you want to get together some time after school?"

Someone was asking me to hang out? Goodness... "I'd like that," I said, smiling. I really would. A friend would be so nice... another friend.

And then I was off to work. I was planning on staying longer at the library, but I would have felt awkward denying Alison's invitation and just walking over to another table to study. So I had stepped into my car and drove. For no reason, just drove. There were a lot of things going around in my head. Like how ever since I was a youngin', I wanted love, and now I was settling for friends. It made me feel so much happier that I didn't need love.

"Aye, Emily!" Benny waved at me as I entered the diner. For some reason, his usual hello told me something else this time. It told me that things were never going to change... But was I just being negative?

Lance:
" I remember you," I said, smiling a bit. " And I think you'd be happy to know that you're on time today." She smiled at me and Lydia took her by the arm, pratically dragging her to the lunchroom.
" How are you all doing this morning," she asked silently. I shrugged and pushed through the front doors of the cafe.
" Fine...I guess," I mumbled.
" I'm not! Someone," Lydia glared at me," woke me up too late and I didn't have time to eat breakfast at home so now-"
" She has to settle for cafe food." Chrissy grimaced then laughed.
" It can't be that bad." I burst out laughing and Lydia started towards the line.
" You'd be surprised," I called while sitting down at one of the tables. She claimed a spot across from me.
" You're not eating," she asked wearily. I shrugged and picked at a loose piece of thread on my shirt.
" Not hungry. What about you? Growing girls need to eat."

"I eat enough, besides, I don't usually eat breakfast." I watch him care fully, he's kind of hot, but I don't know what he thinks of me, hope I'm not too pushy about knowing them. Lydia comes up with her food, and immediatly starts eating it. I smile inwardly, maybe I'll fit in here after all.

Did I desert them? Yes.

Did I care? Sort of. Not enough to go back just yet, though.

The tension in that room was too much for me to handle; I had to get out. In the bathroom, I stood at the sink and stared at myself in the mirror. A blank face stared back at me, and I sighed. Geez. Boys. Were they ever going to stop throwing me for a loop, a whirlwind rollercoaster?

Probably not.

I stayed there until someone else came in, casting me an odd look while I stood there with a deadpan expression on my face in front of the mirror. With another sigh, I headed out, plastering a big smile on my face as I joined the guys again. But then it slid off as I saw Peter stepping away from Ollie; they had been way too close to be doing anything like talking.

I sidled over to a shelf and hid behind it, shamelessly watching them and wondering whether it'd be better for me to just head out now. But then I'd have to leave my books behind, and anyways they'd probably think I was weird for ditching them after saying I was just going to the bathroom. So I resignedly waited for the right opportunity to come out of my hiding place.

I leaned on the counter at the ice cream shop, drumming my fingers lazily on the metal countertop. It was a lazy, boring day; I'd had three customers in my first hour of my shift. It was weird, because usually when it was busy, I wanted it to be slow. But now...I'd already restocked everything, and there's only so many times you can wipe down the counters. There was just nothing to do anymore.

I dug my physics book out of my backpack under the counter and started leafing through it, looking over my assigned questions and thinking of what I was going to write for them when my boss peeked her head through the "Employees Only" door. "Gwen, you know you can't do that here."

I just glared at her and snapped the book shut. Why was it that she lazed around all day in that room, probably on the phone with her boyfriend or maybe surfing Facebook, but somehow knew the second the horrible person in the front started doing her homework?

I wished someone would come in to talk to me.

The rest of the day went bye pretty fast, somewhere near the end of school I called mom and told her not to pick me up. I was half hoping that Lance and Lydia would drive me home again, but I didn't know if they would. At the end of the day I went to my locker, praying that they would ask me if I wanted to ride home with them. I was picking up my Algebra II book when I realized someone was standing behind me, I turned around, hoping it was who I thought it was.
