Buttercup

Alright, maybe that first move wasn't one of my better ideas, considering I was just kicked to the ground. I got right back up and psyched myself up. I can't think of any good fights since I got here, so this'd be just perfect.

He had a bit of a size advantage to me, but I wasn't too worried. Considering the giant octopus monsters that my sisters and I fought back home, this guy wasn't gonna be any trouble. He seemed a little too cocky anyways. He needed to be kicked down a knotch.

Zuko started talking with two of the others; Gaia and Luna. I had my chance. I got up and gave him a fake at his face, and he tried to block. I quickly swifted around him and gave him a strong chop in the back, knocking him on the ground face first.

"C'mon, that all you got?" I asked him, bouncing back and forth.

"You just don't want to shut up, do you?", he said, getting up. He went for a punch and I grabbed his wrist and flipped him back down. This was getting too easy. That thought cost me the moment, though, as he grabbed my ankle and knocked me down. He got up quickly and threw me at the nearest wall.

I needed some sort of edge, or advantage to help me out. I looked around the room for something. I had no idea what I was looking for, other than something to help. It was only now that I noticed there was a crowd of people all around us watching. Great. As if it was depressing enough that I'd lose this, but it'd be the talk of the whole place. Any reputation I had already would be Zuko's.

The room was empty. Just me, the people, Zuko, and the matt we were on to start, which was far too heavy for me to throw. There had-

-oh wait. Well I feel like an idiot. I've really got to think things through a little better. I curled my tongue at him, waving it like a kung-fu taunt. He started running right at me, and he looked like he was going for a low punch, but before he knew it, I hit him with my heat vision. He got knocked on his butt on the other side of the gym.

"Why the sucker punch-er...blast? Aren't girls supposed to fight nicely?", he said.

"I never said anything was illegal. You gonna cry about it?", I said.

We both looked at the doors as two attendants ran in. I turned my back to look at the door, and about a second after I realized I had, I felt a fireball knock me on my face. Dammit! The attendants grabbed both of us. Zuko didn't seem to struggle, but I did. I didn't want him to have gotten that last shot. He couldn't win.

"This isn't over!" I yelled at Zuko as he was walked out with his hands held behind his back by an attendant. The other attendant started walking me out of the gym, holding my hands behind me, of course.

"I lost the fight, aren't I in deep enough already?", I asked.

"We thought you forgot about that heat vision, but as it appears, we were wrong. Until you can manage your anger better, you're not aloud to use any of your powers. Since you probably won't listen to us and try yourself, we're getting a little device to strap onto you so that you won't shoot at anything you see"

And with that, I was forced out of the gym. Helluva day this has been.

I smirked to myself as I watched Buttercup fight with the attendents. She jsut won't learn, will she? I sighed, walking with one of the attendants, thinking about Toph. i really missed her. And Aang, he's always so happy. And Katara, and Sokka, even Tai Lee...

And Mai.

'Dammit!' I mentally curse myself. 'Stop this, Zuko! Let her go.' I sighed

"bad day, huh?" Asked the attendant escorting me. I shrugged. "You know," he started, his grip on me loosening a little. "You don't seem like a bad guy. A little , ahem, fiery, maybe, but you seem cool enough." I shrugged again.

"I'm just antsy." I said, my voice soft and even.

"Aren't we all? This project's crazy," He laughed, letting go of my hands altogether. "Hey, listen, you seem in control. I'll let you off the hook if this doesn't happen again. Deal?"

I just smiled, and shook his hand. I couldn't promise not to fight...or burn the place down...

Gaia **Question: Are the animated characters still animated?!!?**

I smirked smugly while watching the emo powerpuff girl and the emo firebender fight. Wasn't he like 17 and her like 8? This was ridiculous but funny. I shook my head, laughing then went out to my room to get my books.

"wait, don't fight!

Selina

I pass by Buttercup, who seems to have gotten in a fight. I'm tempted to laugh, but I don't out of respect. She seems like a such a pathetic wannabe. Her antics weren't fighting. Batman and I fought. But this girl, no. You fight for reasons, not just to get attention.

I give her a stare, and shake my head and move on. I think of teaching her a lesson, but I'm reminded of my clothes. My dark brown hair was a ponytail; with a teal sweater and khaki skirt. They had to told me to forget about Catwoman, become Selina Kyle. It was hard to become Selina without Bruce beside me-he made things worthwhile.

I'm a few steps away when see her try to pick a fight with another girl. I turn her way and giggle. She sees me, shoves the girl to the side and starts charging before I do anything. I was not in my costume. However, I would have to forget what they told me; I must be Catwoman.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and started down the hall. Science was shit, except I found out how animals had sex. Yay? Singing under my breath I turned the corner and almost got ran over by Buttercup. She was charging towards Selina. I rolled my eyes and grabbed her by the back of her shirt.
" Calm down, will ya?" She hissed at me and Iifted her into the air.
" Let me go 'ya dumb blond!" My fingers twitched towards the notebook but I just dropped her and walked away.
" What class do I have next," I mumbled, chewing on my bottom lip with my head down, " What class do I- ow!" I rubbed my head and looked up and scowled," Watch where you're going," I hissed.

Since I decided I was temporarily done with gym, I walked down the halls, inspecting a piece of food I had found on the floor. I decided it must be something like a fireflake, but I didn't want to eat it to find out. Suddenly I bumped into someone. "Watch where you're going," the small blond girl hissed at me, her eyes flashing. I rolled my eyes but muttered a "sorry." "Yea, yea." She said. "Hey, didn't you just get in a fight with Teacup over there?" I smirked at the nickname for Buttercup.

"Not really a fight." I shrugged, finding myself walking down the hall with her. "Where are you going?" I asked.

"Um...Math, I think." She said with a scowl.

"Me too," I scowled along with her. Maybe we could get along alright. She didn't get on my nerves so far...

It took a lot of searching, and I watched many a PPG episode, but I found out that the original Buttercup, alonside the other PPGs, is in kindergarden. I'm sticking with being in second grade for this, but she's younger in reality. Anyways, just putting that out there.

Buttercup

When they got me to the lab, they practically glued on a pair of sunglasses. They really hurt. Just imagine encasing the eye level of your in metal. I'm not kidding with this. They ended up settling in after a while, and you couldn't tell they were anything different than normal sunglasses.

I can't say I was happy about Selina being a butthead to me, or Misa stopping me. I needed to get out of here. I couldn't change, and I wasn't going to change. I needed to keep my head in the game here, and sooner or later, I'd figure out how to leave. The lab seemed like a good place to check first chance I can get.

I was the only second grader in the entire place here, and I'm one of the hardest to handle. I had private classes every day. I haven't learned a thing, other than how to doodle like a pro. Today's, though, was different.

I got into the little room and the teacher was there in her white lab coat with her clip board. I sat in my little desk and the boredome consumed me instantly, but the teacher got rid of that the instant she started talking.

"Buttercup", she said, "I heard you ended up in a fight today"

"He had it coming", I told her. I wasn't gonna tell her all the details.

"Look, Buttercup, I'm sorry if you don't want to, but you're here to be normal-"

"No way!", I said, interrupting her, "You can't just force me in this class and make me change"

"You're right", she said, "We can't force you. We don't have much of a reason to tell you either. But wether you like it or not, you're stuck here, and you'll be stuck here longer if you keep this up"

"But I'm fine how I am! I don't need to change. I just wanna get out of here!"

"You do, do you? And where would you go?"

I was amazed, but I wasn't really certain on an answer. "Home, I guess. Back to the Professor and my sisters".

"You could fly as far as you want, but you won't ever make it, Buttercup. You'll get out faster and happier listening to us, believe me"

"Oh yeah? And why's that?"

"I just do. And you have no reason not to trust me, do you?"

"Yeah I do!"

"Such as?"

She beat me on that one.

"If you want, you can goof around here until lunch. It's my job to maintain you during class time. I teach because it's a little more productive than just plain old psychiatry. Besides, school work's what I know best. I learned it all twice, after all"

That last sentence bugged me, but I didn't want to add on. I went over to a toy box and grabbed a paddleball toy and fiddled with that until lunch time. I sorta wondered how everyone else's day was going after that fight.

I passed notes with Luna all through Science and Math. I had already learned all the work in New York so their was no point in paying attention. I miss Ed and Heather and I miss Jake most of all. I can't believe he's actually gone. My mind just can't wrap around it. I remember his shocked look as the bullet went through his shirt, all the blood flowing out of his chest. A couple of tears began to go out of my eyes but I wiped them before anyone saw.

"Hey, what's wrong?" a male voice said.

Apparently someone had.

I picked at a piece of loose thread on my skirt and glanced up to see Zuko's scowling face.
" Not a big fan of Math either?" He wrinkled his nose as if he smelled something foul and shook his head no. I smiled, but then bit my lip.
" Me neither," I scoffed," I know how to add and stuff. Psh, not that hard." He smiled but it faded away so quickly I'm almost positive I imagened it.
" That makes two of us. They taught me all of this while I was training to-" he clamped his mouth shut and blew out a long string of air through his nose. I decided not to press the subject any further.
We pushed through the doors to the Math room.
" You're late," the teacher barked. I just kept my head down and took up residence in the back of the room.

How long do you think we will be here? I wrote to Gaia.

I have as much as an idea as you. Hopefully no more than a year. She wrote back.

Don't worry, I think the Knaragles will protect us.

The what?

knaragles, I will tell you more about them later. class is almost over, thank god.

I watched two people come in late. Really late. I sighed. If we were stuck in here, we might as well be good. maybe they'd let us out quicker. Maybe I could go home, to see daddy again. I missed him. A small tear leaked down my cheek, I wanted more than anything to go home.

I touched my raddish earings, a gift from daddy. They were all I had to remember him by. All I would have for a while. But I hated the people who brought us here.

And hate is a strong emotion.

"You're late," the teacher snapped at me. I ignored her, instead looking for somewhere to sit, a spot in back would be best. And there one was, all empty and waiting. I walked towards it and sat down, glad I cold finally just sit and think. I wasn't doing so great on being normal. I had almost let it slip to Misa about me being firelord. And I knew that couldn't happen. Not here at least. I heard someone sniffle lightly and my eyes found the girl sitting to the right of me. She was crying.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, trying to keep my voice down. He sniffled again but looked up at me with surprised eyes. They were brimming with tears.

"O-oh," she began, when suddenly the teacher screamed my name. My eyes shot forward, my back stiff and arms ready to firebend. I quickly put them down, but my posture didn't relax.

"Yes?" I asked as polite as I could. This damned school was annoying me enough today.

"Come to the front of the room!" She barked, and I slowly got up from my seat and walked to the front of the class.

"Lunch starts any minute now, you can go ahead and go off to the lunch room. Have a nice day, Buttercup", said the teacher. I think her name was Jenny. She walked out first. I didn't really know where off to, but she was in a bit of a hurry.

I started walking through the hallways, and passed by Zuko's classroom. He was in the front of the class facing the teacher. It looked like he was in a lot of trouble. I really wanted to see what would happen, but the bell went. Everyone started rushing out the door, and they blocked my view. Bummer.

I walked around from within the crowds of people. I think everyone was continuing their conversations from the class. At least they didn't seem to be talking about the fight from this morning. With any luck, they were talking about why Zuko was in front of the class.

After more line waiting, I had a trayfull of lunch. Grilled cheese. Could've been worse, I suppose. I took a seat down in the only empty spot; near Gaia, Luna, Misa, and the other usuals in that crowd. No Zuko, of course, he was still stuck in that classroom. An epic, giant, monstrous talk was all he was getting, from what I expected. Figures they put gloves and socks and glasses on me, but left his hands able to burn whatever he sought. He had it way too easy. It wasn't fair.

"Nice glasses", Luna said. It was always strange how nice she acted to everyone. It was almost as if she didn't know the fight ever happened. I growled back at her. She didn't seem to be insulted by it.

I watched Zuko walk to the front of the room. The teacher tells him he has to stand there all during lunch, in the classroom, by himself. That wasn't very nice. The bell rang for lunch. Everyone left the classroom, besides Zuko. Even the teacher left. I went down to the lunch room. grilled cheeze, fabulous. Then I had an idea. I put my un-eating grilled cheeze into a napkin and crept back to the classroom.

"Zuko," I whisper.

"Yes!" He groweled.

"I brought you some lunch." I crept into the room and put it on a desk.

"Oh, thank you." He said, obviously surpirsed.

"Your welcome." I said. I go and sit down in a desk beside him. He sits down too.

"Do you want to hear about Wackspurts now?"
