Vampire Weekend

I was sooo happy when Owl City hit the charts. I am very hopeful for the future of music in America (for those of you that don't live in America, let's just say that turning on your radios is not a good idea if you have good taste, or, at the very least, my tastes). With this said, I am hoping that this other band also makes it to the American charts, called Vampire Weekend. What are your opinions of them?

Ha. My friends love Owl City. I, on the other hand, don't like it very much.

The band sounds cool.

I've never heard of Vampire Weekend, but I've definitely heard of Owl City. It's okay, I guess. I loved "Fireflies" when it first came out, but they play it way too much on the radio and it got old really fast. I liked the music video, though. And "Hello Seattle" and "Vanilla Twilight" are good songs.

I don't care much for Owl City personally. The voice is very synthesised, and I sometimes doubt that the singer is actually human.

I will vote a yay for Vampire Weekend, however, mainly for their song A-Punk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XC2mqcMMGQ).

Wow, I never saw the music video for "A-Punk" by Vampire Weekend before. That was... different...

I agree with you about the state of music in general. After a terrible period of ten years where all alternative rock turned into emo and every single country song was incredibly sappy, music is turning the corner. Not a big fan of Owl City, though.

Vampire Weekend is great. I started listening to them a couple years ago. Surprised so many haven't heard of them, though. Their first album got up pretty high in the charts, and their second album debuted at number one.

I like some of Vampire Weekend's songs. I first heard them on the "Infinite Playlist" soundtrack.

I used to like Vampire weekend, then didn't like them for a while, and now like them again. I'm often that way with music. I used to listen to The Kids Don't Stand a Chance over and over trying to figure our what the meaning was (Never came up with anything definitive. It was probably meant to be that way). I don't like Owl City though. Too synthetic sounding.

"The Kids Don't Stand A Chance" is one of the songs I don't like from them XD. There new CD was a step back, in my opinion. And I don't care if the music is all synthetic sounding. Music is an art; as long as it's well done I am happy. I just hate when these singers that synthesize there voices get credit for being "amazing singers". They make good music, okay, but don't tell me they can sing, because they can't...

I have not come across a Vampire Weekend song I do not like, yet. Though I have yet to listen to Contra right through.
It's good music for chilling out and drinking lemonade. =D

I love Vampire Weekend. My favorite songs of theirs are Cousins, Horchata, White Sky, and Giving Up the Gun!
Did any of you see them on SNL a couple months ago? They were fantastic!

After listening to a few songs I've decided that they aren't horrible and definitely worth a chance. The catch is that I doubt that many people in my High school, probably 10% would listen to this band. It is just not in 'style' where I live, and definitely a bit old fashioned.

So? I've never met anyone my age who knew about my favourite band The Tea Party. That doesn't change the awesomeness of their music at all. And why judge music by its age? That too has nothing to do with its quality.

Haha chill out hippie I said they are decent, but I'm just expressing my OPINION on how the band would do in my area. The age of music matters little like you said since some old songs are classic. Sorry if I came off rude or something...

My apopogies. It's just something that I've noticed that most teenagers in my town all listen to the same, latest music, then ditch it when something new comes along. Makes no sense to me.
