what do you listen to while writing?

It's really wierd but I listen to really heavy metal songs while I write (NIrvana, Metallica ect)

I listen to almost everything. It depends on the scene or type of story that I'm writing at the time. I have so many different things on my ipod to listen to while I write. I have Everything from heavy metal to classical. Right now I really like the song 'How Far We've Come' by Matchbox Twenty.

I listen to whatever song there is on the radio, except for rock songs, screamo, etc.

Kings of Leon - inspires great emotions to put into writing. If you haven't heard any before I would recommend it. Some of their songs grow on you, but the sheer heartbreak is great for romantic writers.
Muse - is another that definitely inspires me

My random huge collection of industrial. And sometimes, if he's in the mood, I can get my other half to DJ for me.

Writing playlist: Assemblage 23, Combichrist, Ayria, Icon of Coil, Funker Vogt, Lady GaGa (yep.), Neuroticfish, Jesus on Extasy, Ladytron, Rotersand... I need more writing tunes...

Never Shout Never inspires me, so that's the main thing I listen to. But, if I'm in a bad mood, Eminem all the way.

It really depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to and what story I'm writing. But most of the time it's late 70s and the 80s.

Once I've plotted out my story, I make a playlist based on my main characters personality. I think it helps me get into their heads. Though it does make for a whole lot of playlists on my iTunes.

I'm like a few, tend to just go with anything.

Although if I deliberately chose then I'll go for things like:

Dean Martin
Heavier Music
Keane
Evanescence
Within Temptation
Chuck Berry
The Killers
Michael Jackson
Muse

I'm sorry I'll stop now, but I have no limits on what I listen to and sometimes its sort of a pain to decide what to chose so just bang on shuffle and away I go. Though sometimes I do listen to stuff for mood and that's when my music tastes go back past the 70's and more into the early 50's and 60's.

Everything and nothing. Sometimes, I use a certain genre or artist, sometimes I press 'Shuffle' on iTunes, and sometimes I can get away with no music at all.
