what does everyone listen to while writing? right now im writing a fantasy novel and it just feels so right when i put on the new freedom call album while i write... everything just seems to flow so much better
I listen to a variety, but depending on the emotion I want to write with, there's three songs that just put me into the mood I need to write about it.
Anger is written alongside "King Nothing" by Metallica, happiness is written with "Oh Yeah" by Chickenfoot, and sadness is written to "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden.
When I'm writing, I probably listen to those three songs the most, because those three emotions really cover most other smaller ones. Or, if any new song becomes a favorite in the week, I'll listen to that, no matter what emotion the song favors, or what emotion I need to write about.

Pretty much anything, although usually it ends up being "Discombobulate" from the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack and "Transylvania" by McFly.

My preferences depend on the style and atmosphere of what's written. Music can range from Apex Twins to Baz Lurhman. I'm listening to Frank Sinatra's "Fly me to my moon" for my next short "Friendo".
Exit Trance Presents Anime Trance Best CDs 1-6. The stuff is totally addicting. It's the perfect amount of melody and bass, but since it's trance it doesn't have large melody changes you can focus on your writing.

I usually listen to either Enya or Loreena Mckennitt when I'm writing, but sometimes I'll listen to Rod Stewart's "Time after time" song, too.

The type of music I listen to while writing is either out of these three singers Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson. They really help smooth the atmosphere in my room, which gets me into a good mood for writing.

That's pretty much it. I'm outta touch with most of the mainstream garbage out there. Oh and Disturbed every once in a while. Some artists have good sounding music, but I don't really care for the lyrics or personality throughout all of their music so I'll use it as background music while I'm writing. Examples include Immortal Tech (some of his songs are better than others), Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West (pre graduation), Linkin Park, Slayer, Ill Bill and Everlast.

When I write I listen to/sing differnt things. My favirotes are Circa Survive, Aiden, Scary kids scaring kids (Sksk), The maine, and many more. If I'm writing a angry, emotional piece, I listen mostly to Aiden. If I'm writing something more sensible, loving, calm, and peaceful I listen to Circa Survive. If it's something more sad or depressed I listen to Sksk. What I listen to depends on what I want the mood of the passage to be.
Eh, it really depends on the mood I'm trying to convey in the story. I like to think of what I write as more of a movie than book, so I "watch" the scenes in my head and try to place appropriate background/soundtrack music. Right now, for reasons I can't explain, I am writing to "Mogu Mogu" by Chinza Dopeness XD
I like to listen to movie soundtracks. The one for Batman my is most used.

It depends on what I'm writing, but it usually ends up being a mish-mash between classical, soundtracks, and something else. For the 'something else' portion, I put the Killers on repeat for this one piece I was writing, and I put on Lady Gaga and Crystal Castles for another. I once spent an entire month listening to nothing but the Divine Comedy, múm, and Rachael Yamagata. It created some interesting moods, haha!
Classical-wise I listen to a lot of Wagner, Verdi, and Chopin. And I think I've officially listened to the Hunchback of Notre Dame soundtrack the most. There's just something about Latin chants, you know?

depend which music music I'm into, I go through vases of liking different music, I'll like one band and buy like three album on itunes for them before my imagination gets board and I need some new music.
There's just something about Latin chants, you know?
