what do you listen to while writing?

I'm ashamed to say it, but I listen to Bella's Lullaby when I write. It's just a beautiful classical piano song. I love the piano, and it's one of the only songs I can find on projectplaylist that's only piano.

I prefer not to listen to anything as my concentration is very low and I am very much restless. But yeah I love to listen soft, light music.

I have a few playlists I like to use, mainly the soundtrack from Coffee Prince.
Usually, I opt for mostly instrumental pieces though.

I often listen to movie music when I'm writing, as it tends to be more ambient and "cinematic" (obviously), which helps with the mood and atmosphere of what I'm working on. More often than not, however, I require silence when I'm "in the zone". Music can just pull me out of it.

Well I pretty much listen to anything I currently enjoy. Lately it has been Dead by April and Panic at the Disco. Some of you may find that strange, but that's what works for me. Other times I can't listen at all because if I do my focus goes out the window and my mind wanders.

I admit I have pretty horrible taste in musical. I get slated for it by my friends. Musicals mostly. You got to love a bit of broadway when writing a dramatic scene!

I actually am constantly inspired by music to write. I actually like to compile a soundtrack for the piece I'm writing, music that goes along with the scene in the story, and will listen to that. Otherwise I just put my iPod on shuffle and listen to that.

The soothing rythym of my keyboard... and my iTunes library. Depends, y'know? Um... at the moment I'm on 'Drops of Juipiter (Tell Me)' by Train. But I also gut 'Hero' by Nickelback and a ton others If you ahven't guessed, I write superheroes.

Well I just don't listen to one song over and over again when I'm writing a specific story or part. But I do listen to specific kind of band or artist. These are my top ten that I listen to frequently:

Lady Gaga, 30 Seconds to Mars, My Chemical Romance, Likin Park, Muse, Tokio Hotel, One Republic, The Killers, Adam Lambert, Shiny Toy Guns and Script.

It depends on what I'm writing. I tend to make some sort of soundtrack for my longer pieces, while the short stories or poems are written with iTunes in shuffle mode, or with my favorite song of the moment on repeat. Lots of songs by Interpol and Death Cab for Cutie recently, or the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack when writing fanfiction.

I am super inspired my music, because in my mind, every song has a story to tell. When I'm writing, I listen to whatever music has inspired that scene. It adds emotion and gives it more depth.

Absolutely nothing. I cannot write with music on - I prefer absolute silence. Which explains why I cannot write straight on to a computer or in the kitchen, where the fridge is - both these make strange whirring noises.

I often listen to music that fits a similar topic or mood of the piece I'm writing. Any industrial, especially with more edge works great when I'm writing dystopian stories.

I like a lot of those as well! Especially Linkin Park, One republic (I've listened to them a whole lot lately) and Tokio Hotel

It depends really.

I listen to classical music when working on something for school, aka essays, diploma, research work, etc. My choice is: Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saiens, Gershwin, and opera Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

But when I'm doing creative writing.... it also greatly depends on my mood, weather, circumstances, etc. I have around 80Gb of music on my laptop, so it'd take me forever to name all the stuff I listen to.

All I can say is that, being a violin player myself, I love listening to violin music while writing, it directs my mind in a way.
