Thanks Mo! I use felt-tip markers (about 1.5 mm tips), but the brand (Stabilo) is a very good one, hence the vibrancy of the colors.
I'm working on a larger paper (not lined :smt005) with many, many colors...and rainbows...and winged flowers. So that's something to look out for. I have yet to finish it, and then I have to scan and resize and edit it on a computer. I think I'm gonna leave the color alone though, won't make it brighter like I did with the snake in one of those pictures up there.
Anywho, I'm rambling.

And I'll try to work less on lined paper. :D

Hi y'all! Here's a few more 'colorful' ones. Please, people, a little more than, "I like this!" I'd really like some advice on how to make it better!

Image
A little too small, I did a better (bigger) one. Post it later.

The stuff coming out is at a wrong angle.

This is a weird dream I have a lot. Can anyone relate?

Oh, and just in case anyone's wondering, I use a black gel pen and colored, felt-tip pens as my main medium. I also use colored pencils, but not as often. The dark gray shading, for example, in the 'Dream' picture is colored pencil.

EDIT: My uploads just finished! (I have slow internet) here's another batch.

Hey there Jenth! Seeing as you want some criticism, I'll try and help you out.

First off, I absolutely love these! I wish I could do stuff like that.
Second, I love your creativity, and originality!

Okay, now for a proper critique.

1# It looks a bit unrealistic to be a real gun, so I'm guessing water gun? Even so, it seems like it should be slightly more on an 85 degree angle, and not on a 90. (If you know what I mean). I think you should try and give it a little more space between the barrel bit, and the trigger part. (lol, love my gun terminology? :P)

2# I like this, but it needs to turn from a thin line, to a thick line a little more gradually, the play where it starts getting thicker is a little too obvious.

3# Like you said, the stuff coming out isn't on the right angle. Also, where it twists needs to be a little more twisty(?, I don't really know how to describe it, but it sort of doesn't twist properly. To get it right, you could probably get some stripy toothpaste and imitate it.)

4# This is so cool, and I know exactly the dream you're talking about. :D I can't find anything wrong with this. 'Tis pretty awesome.

Batch 2
1# I absolutely LOVE this! (It's my favourite). I only found one teency weency thing wrong with it, and that is that the very first cloud is on the wrong angle. Apart from that though, it's totally awesome!

2# This is so cool! I can't really find any faults. xD I especially love how the outside of the ship is surrounded by hieroglyphs.

3# Again, totally awesome! I especially love the Chinese scene here. The only thing I didn't really like (opinion) was the two feet at the bottom of the ship, I dunno, but they just give me the creeps.

4# This is pretty cool, but I think the first version of this that you posted was a little better.

5# He's pretty cool, I love the expression on his face. He reminds me of a sock puppet. xD

So, that's my review... PM me if you have any questions.

~Mo.

Wow, fantastic work!

The only constructive criticism that I can offer is when you color, try coloring in tiny circles, unless trying to convey texture or movement. It's a pain in the butt to do but the colors will look better.

Other than that all I have to say is that I love your style. It's so unique and beautiful!

Jenny!

You are way too good at this. Though I want to see you try something else. I'd like to see another side of you. :)
Okay, I'm gonna comment on every thing.

1. I love Japanese. I can understand quite a few of them. But artistically, this isn't so good. Some of the Kanji gets a little squiggly. I would suggest make all of it look slightly squiggle, or all perfect lines and everything. Also; maybe for some visual appeal you could arrange them in a design.

2.xD. I LOLed. But, why is her crying? Also; you need to move the script away from his foot, unless it describes the sound of his walk (which I think, it doesn't) Oh and what does that mean?

3.Aha! I like this. It does show a little of another style. The only place you'll need to improve is the mouth. RIght now, it looks like a membrane stretched inside his mouth, that doesn't go to an esophagus.

4.Likes. No nitpick.

5.Likes again, though it reminds of a belt-buckle. The tilt of the ground makes me a little iffy. Like you wanted to give the sun more prominence. If that's the case, good job. :)

6.Good one again. The portion to he left of the front wheel where you've shaded looks weird. I'm unable to describe. PM me if you want to know, I'll try my best.
Plus, the driver and the wheel seems a little too close to the window. Consider making 'em a little smaller. EDIT: Oops forgot opposite driving system. :)

7.Kammie has a cleaver? Oo
Anyway, the top part of it looks like it morphed into 2D while the bottom still has a slight 3D-ness about it which is good.

8.Another fave. I like the angle you've used. You could add the lid of it, nearby. Also, the CE thing distracts me a bit.

Once again, great work from you. Don't ever forget those awesome pens of yours.

hi again Jenthura! You're skull drawing is simply amazing! The skull looks completely perfect! I love it!!! The shading is very well done! And your new drawings... well... wow! The Japanese writing is so elegantly done, it's beautiful that someone (you) can do such pretty writing and drawings. WOW! I love the lizard! The scales, the shading, everything is great! i would suggest you sharpen the lines though. :D cool super vac. :p and as for all your other drawings, wow! (how many times have i said wow?)
as you can see, i'm not much of a reviewer... all i'm saying is that there doesn't seem to be anything that needs improving. I can't wait to see more of your work! very dr seuss-ish.

Mystic: I believe you aren't the first to compare me to the good doctor (Or maybe you were the first one) But I've looked closely at his works and decided he used a dip- or fountain-pen: the lines just have that feel about them.

Lava:
2.xD. I LOLed. But, why is her crying? Also; you need to move the script away from his foot, unless it describes the sound of his walk (which I think, it doesn't) Oh and what does that mean?

Her (I mean he) isn't. He's embarrassed, which is why he has those lines on his cheeks: they symbolize blushing in pretty much any anime. Also, the two characters at his feet are 'always' and 'love', just some random thing I decided to put in there. They got too big and messed around in his feet, so that's why.

Good call on the different driving method. It actually doesn't matter, since there is no driver. If your read the words to the lower right, they say "Minuscule Bug on The Windshield of a Runaway Van". I was gonna have "Hippie Van," but ran out of room.
7.Kammie has a cleaver? Oo
Anyway, the top part of it looks like it morphed into 2D while the bottom still has a slight 3D-ness about it which is good.

Yeah, in the comic strip I'm working on. She has other ninja-awesomeness and all that, but everybody I'm drawing up (including you) has their own special powahs. Also, it's a lot more detailed than the one I draw in the comic. Good call on the 2D-3D, since, if it was a sharp cleaver, it would look like that.
8.Another fave. I like the angle you've used. You could add the lid of it, nearby. Also, the CE thing distracts me a bit.

Hehe, >< I lost the lid actually. The CE thing was copied off the back of the 'drive. It's the one I use to upload all these pictures onto YWS: I would seriously die without it.

Hey there Jenthura!

#1 -- I like the fact that although this is neat, it isn't perfect. It keeps it with that pleasant feel that it was hand-calligraphy, which I like. However, I don't feel that there's anything going on above that. What I'd like to see is perhaps these encorporated onto a scroll or something that gives them some kind of purpose and potentially a subconcious message as well.

#2 -- Love it, comical and enjoyable. Despite the fact I'm not particularly much of an anime fan. An improvement? Well, because it's anime, perhaps some cartoony thick block colour or some water-colour blending might compliment this quite well.

#3 -- Wow, how long did this take you? I love the detail you've got in it and you're clearly very well settled with drawing in proportion. However, I feel some it's lacking some detail on bottom left. I see that you're trying to perhaps only include the head and create an illusion that past a certain level the detail is dissolving a bit, but I feel you need to atleast add some more scales here. Besides that, this is truly genius.

#4 -- This is what I love. The surrealism that you portray in some of your works. However, something tells me that it should be more cartoony and, because I think the colour and illustrating is pretty much spot on, perhaps using a black ink fine liner or a black ink brush pen to just outline the illustration a bit more to give it an extra surreal or cartoony impact.

#5 -- I like this because it kind of shows to me that you've taken the idea of perspectives and kind of taken the mickey out of it, in a good way. With the surrealism of buildings and day/night, it kind of looks like an impressionist's dream. Although, I'd make the moon to a similar size of the sun, to give it that mirror perspective a little more.

#6 -- I can't say anything wrong with how you've designed the camper van, I think thats very good indeed! I love the 60s vibe it creates as well. However, I think it needs colour to bring out the playful attitudes towards the 60s and the campervan. It could turn into a whirlpool of doodled thoughts, but I really think colour is an essential. Also, I'd be a bit more experimental with the shading because below the wheels it seems a little block-coloured and forced, but that's up to you.

#7 -- Looks a bit like something off a game. I like the handle, the virtual feel of it and the ideas, but I think it needs to be more original with the pattern on the actual blade. I feel the "metal plating" kind of pattern is a bit over-used.

#8 -- Like it!

Hope that helped!
Ben

Oooh, kalado looks like a chocobo. And the gunsword. FF fan too? =D
These are awesome, though, by the way. xD

[Edit] Maybe kamas should change her name to Cloud Strife, eh? ;) Looks pretty similar to the sword cloud uses in advent children, or a fancy buster sword. >> I just really like final fantasy. I notice these things. Awesome drawing though =o

Yes! Finally another FF Fan on YWS! I almost gave up all hope! :D
But first, I must reply to BenFranks for his detailed review. (He was kinda first in line, and it's only fair)

#1 They were actually scattered all over a paper with other drawings, I cut the other drawings away (ACDSee Photo Editor) and put the characters together. That might affect the overall feel of the picture, the randomness, but I like it that way! :)

#2 You know what? I rarely colour my drawings, it's just something I'm not so good at. But it doesn't matter, since many of Dr. Suess' work (to which I've been compared to maybe twice) is just red and black.

#3 I was trying to dissolve it away, yes, but that was hard, since I traced it and the real image was the entire body. Oh, and yes, I feel ashamed for tracing, (I almost think of it as plagiarism) but it was so detailed! :D

#4 Hmm, I think the black border would help, but it sounds like something I'd screw up and make too thick or smudge up. I try not to redo a finished picture, but I'll definitely try that on later cartoons.

#5 Funny thing, I meant it to be horizontal, not tilted. I cut and mirrored it on my computer, but it just looked weird.

#6 I copied a real van, and yes, the shading is crap in some places, like behind the steering wheel. Also, notice how the back end of the bus roof slopes down, but the wheel at the bottom of the picture clearly cannot function with that little space.

#7 It is: Final Fantasy! :D But I simplified it and made it into Kamas' cleaver.

#8 Thanks!

And now, Nutty, Your turn.
Chocobo, FF, Cloud Strife...Yes, all these were influences (big ones) on my drawings. I never mentioned it before (probably should have) but I thought nobody knew about FF on this site (for some reason, my mindset thought of YWS as completely western. Another mindset told me the western world didn't know about FF. Stupid me!)
Advent Children ismy favorite movie!

This is probably late, but I'd like to ask people to refrain from 'liking' this thread, since it's kinda old. You can, however, tell all your friends about it. :D

=D Final fantasy is like, my childhood game. I pretty much squee when I see anything to do with it. And FF fans? We're here, but as you probably noticed, we aren't very vocal about it. (though I am quite happy with my avatar =P)

Lol :) I got to ask though, on the pic with the mickey mouse ballon, Why does the flower on top have wings? Idk why I asked that question, I was just wondering...I love all of you pics! I was going to post my crappy drawings, but now I'm to chicken. I do a lot if anime and pokemon. So I'm still rambling on and on, so I guess Im done. I love your pics again!

That's how we should measure our lives. Not in distance traveled, or time passed, or worlds conquered, but in moments... and the rush of joy—of grace—that exists within them.
