How to Turn YWS Into a Computer Application

Did you know that you can turn YWS into a computer application? It doesn't require much. All you need is:

• The Firefox Browser; and
• The Prism Add-on

Once you have Prism for Firefox, you can turn any website into an application. Once Prism is installed, this is how you do it:
1. Go to 'Tools'
2. Click on 'Convert Website to Application'
3. Click 'Ok'

That's it. Personally, I also check all the checkboxes under right underneath the name field, and also the desktop checkbox under 'Create Shortcuts'. Here's a screenshot:


Why would you want to do this? A few possible reasons:
1. It runs separate from your browser. This way, if your browser crashes, YWS is still open.
2. It runs from your quick launch bar in Windows. That way, YWS is always just a couple clicks away:

3. Put it in your 'Startup' folder and YWS will automatically start whenever you turn on your computer.

I like the crashing advantage.

Does this work for Macs?

I hope Chrome gets something as awesome as this soon!

Jabs ->> As long as you have Firefox installed, it'll work fine. I use Chrome on my laptop but have a number of apps on it using the Prism add-on for Firefox (YWS, g-mail, google docs, and facebook).

Kamas ->> No clue, but there's only one way to find out! If you're using Firefox, just go to the Firefox add-on site and look for the Prism add-on.

Ours is easier, I think. I was able to drag YWS's URL from the address bar of Firefox (though it would work for any browser, really), pull it to that bar in the bottom (with the apps and stuff) and drop it in. Bam! YWS pretends to be an application.

Or you can all convert to Google Chrome, where each tab is a different .exe so that if another tab crashes, YWS will be just fine ^-^.
