let me make the first post

Matt~~

I pushed the door of the car closed. It wasn't what I typically drove, but it was good for these mountain roads, and it went pretty fast, which was always nice. The only belongings I had brought were stored in a backpack, a guitar case, and a trunk that had been shipped up a week ago. I retrieved my key and found the room easily. The school was strangely empty a week before the semester started, but it was probably because most of the kids had been here before.

I turned the key of the dorm and walked into the cozy little apartment. There was a small living room with a tiny couch and a rickety table. The kitchen was just as well furnished, and seemed to only have an oven and a mini-fridge. The bedrooms however had one bed each, a desk, a closet and a dresser.

I propped the guitar up in the corner and laid my bag down on top of the bed. It was a nice place, definitely something I could call home for the next two years until college, but right now it was like a ghost town. I grabbed my wallet and phone out of my bad, and pulling my black jacket tight around me moved towards the door, but it opened and a tall guy with light brown hair stepped in. I moved to the side so he could come in, then introduced myself:

"Hey, I'm Matt. Guess we're room mates."

Yay!

Riley "Red"

All the blood in Riley's body rushed to her head as she viewed the world upside down. The apartment-style dorm was empty and silent, except for Riley's presence. She loved getting places early, it meant she got the best pick of things.

She hadn't bothered to unpack much yet. All her suitcases were scattered over one of the beds in the room behind her. The only thing she had dug out was a thin metal bar that she had promptly secured above the door to the bedroom she had chosen.

Riley closed her eyes, listening to her lense-less glasses land with a light thump on the floor. She wondered when her roommates would get there.

"What the heck are you doing?" a voice asked.

Riley opened her eyes to see a girl standing in the doorway to the dorm. "Hello," she said. She grabbed the bar and swung herself down so she was rightway up again. She grabbed her glasses and positioned them on her face again. "I'm Riley," she said, extending her hand to the newcomer. "But everyone I've ever known has called me Red."

By the way, that is German, off google translate, so it is probably wrong.

Nick

"Ich spreche kein Englisch, ich einen ausländischen Austauschschüler am," I said in the heaviest accent I could pull off. The expression on this guys face was priceless, eyes wide, confused look, half opened mouth. "Relax, just kidding." I dropped my bag and shook his hand. "Names Nick, you going somewhere?"

"Yeah, was going to take a look around the campus," he said plainly.

"I got a better idea, next door are three pretty ladies, how bout me and you go see which is the fifth wheel, eh?"

He paused for a few moments, then finally seemed to make up his mind. "Sounds better than looking around. Let me grab my guitar."

"Ah, an artist. Maybe we can jam some time." So far he seemed like an okay guy. I watched him run back into one of the rooms, and emerge with his case.

"You play too?" He asked.

"Not guitar, I know a bit of bass from one of my brothers though. I play the keyboard and drums though."

We didn't have time to talk anymore, our destination being only a few feet away. Matt knocked on the door, and we waited for an answer.
______________

By the way, the German way, or was supposed to say. "I do not speak English, I am a foreign exchange student"

Also, it was May, Maria, and Shannon's room.

I sat silently in the passenger seat of by brothers silver mustang as he drove me to the school. Usually I would have driven myself, if I had a car. My mother had decided to do grocery shopping and God forbid Kyle, my older brother, would let me drive his car. Apparently I could be a reckless driver at times. I smiled at this thought.

"If you need anything Ace, just call me." He reminded me as I got out of the car. Flipping open the trunk I pulled out a duffel bag that contained some cloths and books, and the most important items I had, and my precious violin. This was the portion I had decided to move to my housing area before the chaos of everyone bringing all their stuff at one time, trying to find their rooms.

"Just don't get lost trying to find your way back home. Like last time." I joked to my brother before I closed the trunk and he drove off.

It didn't take me too long to find my room. I doubted anyone would be here this early before school. I was wrong. I opened the door to find a girl doing, well I wasn't sure. "What the heck are you doing?" I asked with a small laugh. She turned around, looking at me with a smile.

"I'm RIley but everyone I've ever known calls me Red." She introduced. I smiled at her. "It's nice to meet you Red. I'm Anellise, but everyone calls me Jay or Ace." I smiled and shook her hand, positioning my violin case on my arm to free my hand.

"You play?" She asked excitedly. "Yes, only a little, do you?" I asked, trying to change the subject. She nodded her smile grew brighter. "Yes."

"I have a feeling we will be good friends." I told her, placing my stuff on my bed before adding. "Do you want to look around the place with me? Go on an adventure around the school?" I suggested eager to look around the place.

Not half bad. Not half bad. There were stores, a park and a large school. This won't be a bad idea after all.
I went out of the car were my brother took out my suitcase from the carriage.
"Good luck to the new school." he said to me as he gave me the suitcase.
"Gonna cry?" i said almost mockingly.
"Come on, Maya, cut it off" he said before i tapped his shoulder.
"Guess you're no longer the same kid back then. Tell goodbye to mom" he nodded before he gave me a goodluck. WIth that, he went off leaving me behind.

I whistled to myself as i looked at the boundaries of the school. I wondered if my parents want me to have a good education or simply want to get rid of me? I grinned to the thought of it when i proceeded to go to my dorm. I went to my room and found it a little suitable. Not half bad but it was empty. I wonder when my room mate would come here?
"Guess my dorm mate is late..." I grinned when i there the suitcase beside my bed.

"Now, what now?" i started feeling bored so i went out of the room. Nearby, i saw a group of boy walking towards the next door. One ahd a guitar and they were murmuring something. I bet they're either serenading something or surprising someone?

"Hey, guys?" i exclaimed trying to grabbed their attention as i leaned against my door. "It's early season to try to grabbed some ducks?"

Bolt, can you put my character in or anyone else?

**Think I'll give first person a try here.**

Ben

I heaved my bags out of the boot of the car, keys hanging from one finger as I took in the surroundings. It wasn't terrible, which was better than I'd expected when my parents said they were sending me to a boarding school in the mountains, far away from anyone I knew. That said, while it might not be terrible, I was still getting used to the weather in this country. It seemed to be cold all the time in Maine, with the hottest summer I'd experienced here being but a memory of my home.

More importantly, things had started out well. Despite the windy mountain roads, my dodgy car, and the fact that I was having to drive on the wrong side of the road, I'd managed to get to the school in one piece.

My innately excellent sense of direction - along with a few signs taped to the walls to help newcomers like myself - led me almost straight to my dorm room. It, too, was better than I'd thought it would be. Instead of the cramped, spartan, and generally depressing room my mind had conjured for me, I was confronted with a pleasant hotel-style room. Living room, kitchen, separate bedrooms and, to cap things off, my own desk.

I dropped my bags in the closet, unzipping one to take out my tennis racket and a stack of books. The racket went against a wall, and the books to the side of the desk. Glancing briefly over the room, which seemed to have barely changed, I nodded to myself, and went to search the rest of the apartment. No room mate, or at least none who had arrived. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a proper look around the halls, first.

As I walked back out into the corridor, I caught sight of a group of boys the same age as me making their way to another door, carrying a guitar with them. Well well, musicians just down the hall. There's some more luck.

"Hey guys?" A girl called. I stared down the hall, more than a little shocked. Girls in the same dorm as guys? Obviously not the same rooms, but still, I'd never heard of anything like this before. What a strange school. "It's early season to try grabbing some ducks." She finished.

I couldn't help but laugh softly, it was an odd way of putting it. The girl's head whipped around, and I thought for a second I caught her glaring at me. Oops. Maybe not the best first impression to make. "Sorry." I said, grinning in a somewhat mocking manner, "Just thought it was a strange way of putting it, if that means what I think it does."

I pulled into the school's campus, parking my BMW in a free spot. I sighed and hesitate before leaving my car - I couldn't run away now, right? They would inform my parents? Gosh, all I didn't need at the moment was my dad tailing me. So I got up, and closed the driver's door with far too much strength, immediately regretting it. My BMW was everything.

I took out my luggage, quickly noticing I wouldn't be able to take it all at once. Oh well, what could I do anyway. I walked into the reception. "May I help you, dear?"

"Yes, I'm Marianne Norwood. I'm looking for the key to my room?" The woman nodded, and wrote something on her computer.

"Room 302, Building four, level three," she told me. I nodded and took the key. Now, where was that building? Oh there were signs! Great, I wouldn't find anything yet without those. I followed the signs, until I reached the entrance of a building. Sure it must be it. And there was room 302, I stated. I opened the door, and laid some stuff on the the room immediately to the left. And then the door opened.

"Hi, I'm Maria." I said, sounding rather cheerful.

"Hi! I'm May! Nice meeting you!" The girl greeted me, clearly more excited than myself. But her cheerfulness could only make me smile, and so I did.

I think I'm going to switch it up to first person.

Riley "Red"

"An adventure!" I cheered, thrusting a fist in the air. "Sounds perfect."

"Where do you want to check out first?" Jay asked.

"I don't know about you, but I've spent most of today stuck in a van full of people and I'm itching to do some running around outside. It is a lovely day after all," I said.

Jay seemed alright with my proposition, so I helped her move her stuff into her room and we left the room. I stretched my hands toward the cieling as we walked down the hallway. "It's lovely to finally have room to move in," I said, hoping to make conversation. "Having five siblings doesn't do much for personal space. What's your family like?"

My stomach twisted slightly at the mention of my family. "Well, I have a somewhat overprotective brother." I mentioned with a small smile, not ready to talk about much else.

Red looked at me with some confusion until she figured that my family life wasn't so Dandy. "Sorry.." She started until I interjected. "It's okay, I'll talk about it later. I just moved here though." I changed the subject quickly and Red didn't seem to mind.

"Really? Where did you come from before, and how long have you been here in Maine?"

"Well I came here from L.A. It's been around six months since I've moved here." Red's eyes grew slightly.

"L.A. That's cool. Did you meet any movie stars?" She joked. I laughed.

"Sadly no."

May~~

My force pulling out of the cabs backseat with such energy, that the cab's seat might have come with my body.

"I have never seen a girl so excited for this place- ever," The cab driver mumbled but I just smiled back at that large building in front of me. Grabbing my carry on bag from the airport, I skipped at full speed toward the building happily. This was where I was going to make my home, for the next three years of my life and I laughed triumphantly at the thought.
With a jump, I landed on the windowsill and then the next and the next to what I thought (I counted) to be 302.

The window was open and I jumped in with another triumphant laugh. The door opened on the outside of the closed bedroom and my body bounded out toward the sound. A very confused girl stood in the doorway, and introduced herself as Maria.

"Hi! I bet you are my room mate! I just got here too actually," I smiled wide.

"You did? But I just-" She stopped and smiled, I liked her already.

At the door there was a knock, and a voice called in asking if we were in there.

"Guests already? This pale just gets awesomer every minute!" I exclaimed opening the door, "Hi!"

"Just thought it was a strange way of putting it, if that means what I think it does." the guy replied with a grin.
My, my, my....it's too early and already i met some old dogs.
"Oh, really?" i said sarcastically with a dramatic tone. "What would i meant to say. Shall i say, 'Oh, guys, what are you doing? How about little o' me.' Yeah, ducks are a little better cause they usually quack their way into anything. As for you, try not to make a wrong impression."
The guy seemed a little amused by my reply.
"Maya Elizabeth's my name" i said introducing myself, "But don't you ever call me by Elizabeth."
"Ben," he said.
"hmph, guess the early birds are already arriving."

Suddenly, the door opened the girls inside approached to greet the serenader. When the girls came to invite us all. I leaned to my door post.
"I told you the ducks quack their way into everything." i chuckled to myself. Ben glanced at me for a moment.
"Are you going in?"
"And what all act all princess." i chuckled again before i made a second thought. "What the heck, i guess i'll squeak my way into something. I'll see what kind of flock we got here."

As i walked towards the room, i heard someone behind me.

Red and I had made our way outside to the front courtyard. It was a bit chilly, and the breeze was nice.

"He, that kid looks like he needs a hand." I mentioned spotting a guy trying to balance a few suitcases with a book in his hand and a skateboard under his arm. Red and I hurried over to him.

"It looks like you need a hand." I mentioned with a smile. He gave a small chuckle when he looked down at all the stuff he was carrying.

"Yes I do. I'm Duncan." He smiled at us gratefully. He handed over a suitcase to me and Red offered to carry the Skateboard.

"I'm Anellise, but please call me Jay or Ace. Whichever you prefer." I introduced.

"And I'm Riley, but everyone calls me Red."

"What book are you reading?" We asked almost simultaneously, Red and I, which caused us both to laugh off the awkwardness. "Oh, um, actually rereading Death Be Not Proud." (sorry I'm not sure what books he lies to read.)

He said, I nodded approvingly. "That's a good book." His face lit up slightly.

"You like to read?" He questioned, both of us.

I nodded and Red responded with a simple "Yeah."

"Cool, so would you two ladies mind helping me find my room?" We both smiled. "Sure, it won't be hard, since there are signs and all." Red stated. "And once you are settled you are welcome to join us on our little adventure around campus." I offered.

He gave a small laugh as we stared walking back into the building to find his room.

Thanks A.J.!!

*Duncan*

Ace and Red were really nice with helping me find my room. I instantly liked them when they asked me what I was reading.

"So," I said while we walked to the dorms, "Do you guys know if there's a place around here where I could skate?"

"Oh, yeah!" Ace said. "There's actually an indoor skate place in the gym somewhere and an outdoor skate park about ten minutes from here by foot."

"Five by board." Added Red.

"Cool, thanks."

They helped me find my room successfully. They walked in with me and put my stuff down. I turned to them. "Thanks you two."
