Riley

"So, where can me and Shelby sleep? Where should I put my stuff." Bree asked.

"Uh, you can sleep with me, but, what stuff?" I asked.

"All my bags." She got them out of the car and put them in James arms. "Be a dear and bring those up to my room." She said. James made an annoyed huff and dropped her bags.

I said to her, "In america, we look out for ourselves."

"Whatever." She said, then handed them to me. Knowing I wouldn't win this argument, I went and put them in her room.

She goes upstairs to comb Shelby's fur, as she says. I slump down in a chair.

"You two are as alike as day and night." Mitch said, "but she is kinda pretty. No offence Riley."

"None taken. I get that a lot. But underneath the pinkness she is actually really clever and kind. You just have to get used to her."

"I can't beleive your even related." James said.

I like her." Suzie said. I knew she would. They had very fitting personalitys. But I still hated her.

Bree

It was cool to see my little sis again, but she didn't have to be so rude. Sometimes... Ah, well, at least there were plenty of guys.

Expecially that Reg. He was realy cute. I wonder if Riley, no, she couldn't. She wasn't good enough for him. He wasn't someone to be messed with, I knew that. I watched his face as I put the bags in James hands. He probably would have thrown them back at me.

I resumed brushing Shelby's fur.

Suzie-

I don't recall ever seeing a dress that yellow. It was gorgeous! I about laughed myself silly at the look on James' face when she dropped her bags in his arms. He was ready to rip something apart.

But poor Riley. You could see the anxiety on her face. "I like her," I offered, trying to read a response. Of course it was an eyeroll.

"Is she that bad?" I asked.

"No... but like Mitch said, we're as different as day and night."

"So..."

"So, that means that though we're blood... I... it's complicated Suzie." I shrugged. She'll tell me sooner or later.

Bree came down again. "Where's the bathroom?"

Immediately Mitch's mouth dropped and he looked starstruck. I "gib-slapped" his head (from an old TV show my parents watched) and gave him a mock-glare.

"To the left," I answered. Before she took off she stuck out her hand.

"Hi, I'm Bree."

"I'm Suzie."
"Oh please don't tell me you're archaeologists."

"Do you have a problem with archaeologists?"

"I'm a time traveler. I laugh at archaeologists."

I was glad Suzie and Bree got along. that made one. And Mitch, well, was gaping at her everytime she walked into a room. It made me sick. And James hated her, I knew that right off the bat. I had no idea about Reg or Jackie, but in time I would find out.

Me Mitch and James sit down after dinner at the 'discussion table'. That was where we made all our plans.

"We should do another break in at the governers." Mitch said.

"I have a better idea." Said James, "We could rob the people who own the bank of America. If we could get the key to the dafe in the bank, we would have a kings fourtone to give out."

"All that money would be nice, but it would be too risky. We might make it out, but at what cost?" I said.

Mitch

Inwardly, Mitch was struggling not to burst out laughing. Letting his mouth drop open at the sight of Riley's sister was getting the most hilarious reactions out of her. And to think she didn't think he could see her glares.

"All that money would be nice, but it would be too risky. We might make it out, but at what cost?" Riley asked.

Mitch drummed his fingers on the table for a few seconds, considering the point. "Well, what if we could get someone on the inside?" He asked, glancing from James to Riley. "If we could cut the alarms before we went in, the police wouldn't know about things until after we were done."

Riley gave him a slightly sad look. "It's a nice thought, Mitch. But we're hardly low profile. Most of us have our faces on wanted posters, remember?"

"What about Bree?" Mitch said, watching Riley closely for any sign of a reaction. He didn't want to cross any kind of line with her. James scowled a little at the suggestion, as if unwilling to concede that she might actually be useful for something.

"I hate to admit it Mitch, but she could do it very easily. She is a bubble head, but she can be very clever at times." I said.

"Should we call her in?" James asked, obviously not pleased.

"No, lets form a plan first, or she will try to take it into her own hands."

"I still cant even belive you two are related." mitch said.

"I get that alot." I said with a smile. Yes, we were like day and night.

I got up sleepily at four the next morining. I wasnt the first one up.

"Morning," Bree said to me, "ready to go?"

"Uh, give me like twenty minutes." She came over to me and put a few things on the table.

"What are these?" I ask.

"Four walkie talkie headphones, a floor map of the building, and a pocket knife."

"I hate you." I said only half joking.

"You're welcome."

I went up to my room to change.

"Wait!" Bree said, and threw me a black suit identical to the one she was wearing, "it bulletproof." jeez, she was good. When I came down backstairs James was wearing one similar, but it had a gun strapped to the side.

"She got you in one too?" He asked me.

"It bullet-proof." I remarked. Before long Mitch was downstairs and ready to go. Reg and Jackie would be alone. I wrote a note for them.

Reg and Jackie,

Don't do anything stupid, or illegal. We will be back before midnight. If were not, assume we are dead and go join Jack in the south. I repeat, no stupid, dangerous or illegal things. And Reg, put the guns on hold for a day.

Wish us luck,
Riley

I looked at the note and simply handed it back to Jackie. I smiled. Riley was treating me like a kid, not like a proper Southern brother. She knew I'd only do something if it meant I'd be better off. Nothing illegal was going to happen. Atleast not tonight. No, the job would wait...

As for Bree? Hmm, I hadn't noticed anything yet, but she did keep looking at me. It was kind of funny, but uneasy. It wouldn't matter. In time she'd know that I wasn't that type. I walked away from Jackie, laughing.

"What?" She asked, hastily.

"Oh, nothing," I bemused. "Just wait, let's simply wait."

"Why the hell aren't we on this little heist?" She cursed.

"'Cause Riles has forgotten just how useful I am," I replied.

"What about me?" protested Jackie.

"Well," I began, "If she wanted you, you wouldn't be here. You're not exactly babysitting me, are you?"

She just laughed.

In return, I winked and went to my room. I'd get the job out of the way soon. Be rid of my past. Be rid of my pain. And return as the old Reg Carter...

Riley

We sneak into the bank after Bree gives us the okay. No alarm goes of, thank god, and we go right up to the lock on the bank safe.

"This was almost too easy." James commented.

"Everything okay?" I whisper into the headset, talking to Mitch and Bree.

"All clear." Says Mitch.

"Take a guess." Bree repiled, James started laughing.

I went up to the lock and put the numbers James got me into the pin block. There was a little green light and the door opened.

"Holy..." James stated.

"Cow..." I finished. The amount of money in there was incredible, it was close to mind-blowing.

Then I hear, "Alert Alert!!!" Coming from Mitch. I turn around, and see three guard with guns pointed at us. I take out my gun in turn.

"My vest is bullet-proof," I tell them, "You can put the guns away."

"So are ours." They replied.

I put my gun down, they do the same. It was time for some old-fashioned fighting. I nood and James and we both sprint towards the men. They are strong too, and before long one of them has me in a firm grap.

"Run James!" I yell. Then the guard dropps me suddenly. He crumples to the floor dead. I turn around to see Mitch with my gun, pointed at the two other guards. He shots one, and I kill the other by snapping his neck. James is on the floor, clutching his arm. He has been shot. I bend down beside him.

"Mitch, get James home, now!" I yell. Mitch helps James up and they sprint off to leave. I grab a bunch of money, shove it in a bag, then tell Bree to meet me back at the house. She says she is already there. Wow, she was quick. I run back outside, hop on my motorcycle, and speed back home to help James.

They all ran in as if the apocalypse had dawned. Money was spurting everywhere and Jackie's face went white with worry. James was clutching his bleeding arm and crying out in agony, with Mitch close at his side. There were no deaths. It seemed that Riles might've remembered just what I was here for. I was here when things like this happened. Whilst everyone else was in a desperate worry I just sat back and marvelled at it all. Thinking about the very existance of life.

Bree looked over. I smiled but I did it without meaning to. I quickly glanced away and bemused myself once again with the events of today.

Soon, it would be time for the past.

Riley

I tended to James, hissing at anyone who got to close. I was the one that got him in this mess, and I would get him out. I had already taken the bullet out of his arm and was tying it up with a bunch of bandages Mitch got for me. I hadput some achlohol on the wound, to help it heal, and to help there be no scars.

"How are you feeling?" I asked him when I was done.

"Really, Riley, I am fine." he relplied.

"Just let him die." I heard Reg say. Very slowly, I spun around.

"In the north, Reg, you will do well to remember every life is precious, and we dont play pawns." I said, referencing the incident with Jack.

I had asked him why we just let people die, and he showed me a chess board. Most perploe were disposable pawns, but others, he said, were valuable.

"Your the queen, I am the king." Jack had said.

"Of a messed up kingdom." I had replied.

Reg said, "Oh, come on. He isn't worth your time." James stood up and lunged for Reg. Then the fight broke out. I watched tyhem start to hack away aat each other, I had no idea how to stop them. Then I turned to Bree.

"Hold this up to your neck." I said, handing her an empty pistol. The second she was in position, Reg was distracted enough for me to pull James off of him.

James~~

I turned away from the group and ran up the stairs, lunging out the window on the top floor and landing smoothly on the roof of the building across the street.

What the hell had gotten into me? First I get shot, then I try and start a fight. Reg did have it coming, and if Riley hadn't stopped it I might have killed him. It wouldn't have been a large step of the imagination to imagine that I could, even with a hurt arm.

I turned a corner and stepped into a convenient store, "let me get a beer, a fountain drink, a bag of sugar, some lighter fluid, a lighter and some sugar."

"Thats an odd request for this hour of night."

"Do I look like I care?"

I grabbed the bag and threw him some change, not even bothering to check if it was the right amount. Money meant nothing to me, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this job. I climbed up onto one of the roofs and sat on a vent. I re-tied the bandage, and after drinking the beer very quickly- I needed the smell on my breath, but not the effects- I mixed the ingredients together. Napalm was simple, but it burned for a long time, which was exactly what I wanted. I walked along the streets quietly, my clothes would not attract attention, but the fact that I was walking straight would. Only drunks were out this late.

I walked to the gun store and paused, checking all the cameras without showing a glimpse of my face and then smashed the window. I knew it would be five seconds for the alarm to flare and the cameras to come on so I had to hurry. I took the bottle of napalm and through it through the window into the back room, far away from the guns. As I threw I dove to the side, out of the view of the cameras and collapsed in the side of the alley, my head lolled to one side, and my breath coming out heavy, just like a passed out drunk. The alarms flared, and shortly after I could hear the approach of the cops. I stayed in my place, knowing that the cops would only bother me after the fire was taken care of- who wanted a ton of gunpowder going up in flame?

The fire truck pulled up first and the water started spraying, but the fire just kept burning. I slipped around the corner and ran around the block so that I was behind the cop cars. By this time the fire was out, and no one noticed me take the police radio.

I walked back down the alley turned a sharp corner in the opposite direction, throwing off my jacket in a trash can, and ripping off the sleeves on my white t-shirt. I put the radio in the plastic bag from the convenient store and walked slowly back towards the spare house I'd set up. I found the spare key and let myself in, locking the door three times behind me and setting the radio on the counter.

I needed a break from the group, and Riley knew that. She was the only person who knew about the building, and I didn't expect her to come to ask me back. Maybe to say sorry and check up, but she would give me time, if only because it was the first time she'd seen me loose my cool. I plopped down in a chair and flicked off my shoes.

The news from the radio was plain, nothing about our group, but I imagined the cops would be out in force, and it would be nice to know if they found anything.
