My favorites are definitely IT, The Shining, The Talisman, and The Long Walk.
This man is my biggest inspiration.

I've only read a few of his books, but I enjoyed every single one. Cell, It, The Stand, his collections of short stories like Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Skeleton Crew, and whatever other collection of short stories that he has. His best short story is easily The Mist. While good, all of his works are quite obscene. *Shrugs* But, is the world around us any different? :?

The Dark Tower books are still my favorite books to date.

He may be legendary, but he is also a very grumpy one. He tends to talk rather harshly about other authors. It makes him sound like he considers himself above all others.

I've only heard him talk bad about Stephanie Meyer and James Patterson, which people should do more often. xD

He's a master at coming up with and telling stories, ha - but not a great writer. His prose is generally rubbish. You just gotta put up with it.

What permanently turned me off Stephen King's prose was a line in the Langoliers. A guy saves a girl's life, and the way he expressed her gratitude was, "She looked at him like he s***ed diamonds out of a platinum ***hole." I like cussing as much as the next puerile pup but It had nothing to do with the narrative voice, it was just needlessly crude.

I agree with Jiggity. That's why I ove the movie adaptations of Stephen King's books so much.
