Yes, I know the nose part is awkward. No, I did not trace or copy. Yes, I did this from my head. Please, if you can, tell me what else is wrong.

Sam! This is an abosultley beautiful drawing. Is it of your dog? If it is I'm so sorry :(
She's adorable.

Alright, onto the review. This is a really good drawing and I gave it a gold star. However, I do have a few minor issues with it, but nothing major!

• First, your shading and line work in the first half of the picture is very dark, while your shading and line work in the second half is very light. This creates a really weird contrast, because the head just pops out where as you can barely see the hind legs. Also, it doesn't look right. I'd recommend taking this out and going over the second half in darker.

• The face doesn't look right. As you mentioned yourself, the nose is too big. However, in addition to that, the eyes are too small and too human looking. They're almond shaped, small, and the pupils are small. They're also halfway down the head, and although this a a rule of thumb for drawing humans, but with dogs, the eyes tens to be more towards the top. That's the case with my dog, anyway. Also, your eyes should be more circular and the pupils should be huge with a little color showing.

Anyway, I know there are many different kinds of dogs and I'm basing this review on how my dog looks. See ya around, Sam!

Actually, I have no idea who it is. I mean, it's based off a character from my story, but I don't know where I got the inspiration. It's the only thing about art I'm really good at... I can take in image from my mind and put it in paper. lol

Thanks you so much Elly!

Hi Cap'n!

Really cute and adorable dog. It makes me go aww. And is it your dog? If yeah, I'm sorry. =(
So anyway, I don't have any problem with the shape. Just the nose part as you said. I think it would turn out better if it is a little bit higher and such that the shading around it gives a more definite protrude. I hope this bit doesn't confuse you. You could also darken little ovals for nostrils and add a glossy streak to it.

The right side of the paper has a bunch of pencil marks which look like they've been erased. It gives a bad first impression. Though, this is definitely good, I would suggest you to have cleaner surroundings on the paper.

You should darken around the claws(Are they called claws or paw-nails?) to make it look like they grow from beneath the fur.

And for the right side of the body, I think it would look better if you added atleast a few strokes to give a vague presence of completion of the shoulders.

Anyway, awesome work; I love it.

EDIT: I agree with what Ellie says about the eyes. (But I still love them!)

Hello Captain :)

I like this! It looks cute, but authorative and intelligent - makes me laugh! Anyway, I love it, I think you've created something very pleasant to look at. If it relates to your book that's fabulous! It's kind'a like a bonus. Hehe, this isn't really a review because I can't really nitpick something like this as a lack of feature can sometimes be good, etc. Anyway, I love it!

Ben.

Thanks guys!

Uhm... so the story of this is kind of weird...

My aunt used to have a dog named Emma who looked nothing like this.

Then I made up a dog named Emma in my story who does look like this. I was just trying to draw my characters because it helps me.

So I guess it's a mix if the two! Anyways, thanks for commenting.

It is really cool. Adorable dog.

I like this kind of drawing better. I've always thought that crayons, and color pencils, make the drawing kind of weird. I love the paint, though. This reminds me of a friend of mine, actually. It's touching...

:D Keep up the good work!

Scipio: Not scared? Well, aren't you the little tiger? RAWR!
