The hall swam in circles around him. Nathan couldn't tell the ceiling from the floor. He couldn't believe the bloody bird man had escaped him. He stayed flat on his stomach for what seemed like hours, his chest heaving up and down. His skull thumped like it had a heartbeat.
When he finally regained coordination he stood up on his hind legs and stalked toward the door of his prey. He scraped the door with his claws. The scraping sounds sound would drive anybody to insanity.
The bird man inside did not respond. Nathan growled a throaty rumble. Then he rapped three times on the door.
"I won't open my door big bad wolf," the bird man inside said, "not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!"
Nathan howled in rage. How dare the meat play taunt me! With a parody of The Three Little Pigs!
