I'm going to be adding a games section this Sunday, and there's gonna be a lot of them. But it'll cost points to play, and you can only get points by posting in the literary forums. Thus, I'm going to do a major overhaul of points...
From now on, a new topic in the literary forums section and the usergroups section will only get you a maximum of 50 points (a change from the current 100). By contrast, a review will get you a maximum of 100 points, and a minimum of 25 points. For every character in a post, you will get .2 points. So for a review to get the full 100 points, it needs to be about 100 words long.
Of course, there will be other ways to get points besides posting in a literary forum or in a usergroup. Winning a contest or the weekly writing challenge will get you points from henceforth. Answering questions from new users, or helping a new user in any other way will get you points. And even just browsing the site will get you points (I'm going to add a new feature here soon that will randomly give people 10 to 20 points).
At this point, I think games will cost 25 points to play. I also will not be reseting points so everyone who's been accumulated them since February should be sitting pretty!
Here's some of the games to expect...
- Pacman
- Tetris
- Fortune Teller
- Lottery
- Simon
- Othello
- Minesweeper
- Mahjong
- Frogger Clone
- Hit the Penguin! (YWS Classic, for which EBM holds the record)
- Wheel of Fortune
- Breakout
- Pong
- Asteroids
And many others as well! I have 300 to choose from, but I'm only going to choose the best 30, so still expect plenty.
But remember, for the next week, the only way to get points is to participate in the Literary Forums. After this week, the Literary Forums will still be the easiest and fastest way to get points, but there'll be other ways as well.
