Okay. I am currently writing a story, and I'm enjoying writing it very much. It's about a man who is extremely paranoid. ( It has a better plot than that, I'm just describing the character. ) But, I'm worried he may be too paranoid. He's jumpy at every single rustle he hears, and scared to death of almost everyone. He is always worried someone is judging him, and it's a constant thing. Someone told me he was way too paranoid. Can someone be too paranoid? Or am I being paranoid?
I left my wedding dress hanging in a tree somewhere in North Dakota.
As long as he trusts a couple of things, you should be fine!

"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
I think that's okay, but you should, like Snoink said, make him able to trust something.
You also might want to consider making an explanation for this paranoia, or else it might seem a little fake. Like maybe Post traumatic stress syndrome(or something like that. I think the name is wrong)
Your character sounds interesting. PM me if you post any of it on here.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
I think it's actually kind of realistic. If you have some kind of anxiety disorder (which could cause extreme paranoia), you really would be paranoid about almost everything. You can read more about them Here As long as you give him a reason to be super paranoid, I don't think there's really a problem with him being super paranoid.

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
Okay, my mind works in odd lopsided circles so this might not make sense... it wouldn't be the first time... I think extreme paranoia is fine but if you're worried about over doing it too much then tone it done in a way that makes sense. If he's always afraid that someone is judging him, have him pretend not to be paranoid. I don't know what pov you're using but if its third person you could have him appear to be kind of tense with shifty eyes, but he doesn't often express his paranoia because he thinks people are judging him. I don't know about first person though...its harder...
