Did anybody else forget it's NaNoWriMo? You know, that little thing when spelled out appropriately is known as National Novel Writing Month? That thing where people practically kill themselves to eke out 50,000 words of nonsense in one month? Because I did.
Then again, if I were reading the blogs, I would've read that bubblewrapped recently finished 200,000 words, alwaysawriter is *this* close to finishing, Angel of Death completed on Thanksgiving, and GryphonFledling continues her series of blog posts with titles reminiscent of desert island castaways. But, I don't read blogs so I didn't know that (until an hour ago that is). I suppose a hearty congratulations is in order for writing 50,000 words, so a hearty congrats to all who finished (or will finish).
Also in the blogs, we got Jon going for a YWS record of most blog comments. Will he finish? Who knows? It seems like he stalled out, and I actually don't even know the record. Sachiko claims it's 78 though, so Jon has more than quite a ways to go on the front.
Over in Poetry, we can thank Kylan yet again for writing a poem that has steamrolled over all others posted this week. It's titled, appropriately enough, Railroad Song. If you have the time, I also encourage you to check out Barbara Frietchie by MKate. It's based off a poem with the same name, and the result is very well done.
In Fiction, the craze of posting chapters but not finishing them continues. Go through and count the number of "Prologues" versus the number of "Chapter 1's". I think you'll notice a difference.
And if you haven't noticed, we Americans recently celebrated the very American holiday of gorging oneself; also called Thanksgiving. If you haven't yet, go wish everyone here a Happy Thanksgiving. It's kind of rude of you to not have done that already, but hey, we're entering the season of forgiveness!
