Hello, hello, hello!

My name is MourningGlory, or at least it's the alias I would like to go by 'round here! But, seeing as it is quite a mouthful, feel free to call me Mourn or Glory! I wont bite, not unless you call me Lory (gLORY), please refrain from doing that. I CAN be rather dangerous when it comes right down to it :D

I was introduced to writing in Grade 6. Fun times. When my lovely witch of a teacher told me I needed a way to express myself rather than drawing odd anime characters all over my Math and Science work. I really dislike Math and Science. Really. Anyway, it puzzled me for awhile, because without being able to get out my thoughts by drawing odd little people carrying guns bigger than their heads, how was I supposed to express myself?

So I wrote a story about about a Ninja Princess, who, yes, was a ninja and a princess. A rich and deadly combo. After that, the words just continued to flow into stories, and the stories became part of me.

Now I write lots, I don't really have a dramatic goal to be richer than J.K Rowling, but hey it'd be nice. I just want to express myself through words of a story, and I thought there was no better way to do so than joining others to expressed themselves in the same way!

I don't usually write poems... sometimes I do randomly rhyme though :?

ANYWHO
I look forward to meeting everyone here and getting to know what you are all like! I've read some of the stories already and they're amazing. Though I tend to edge towards Fantasy Drama, I don't mind the odd sad romance or sci-fi. But my love of Anime (Bleach) has brought of a side of me that craves swords and bloodshed. Whoop for imagination!

Thanks for reading my random information ^^

Hey there, Glory! Welcome to YWS! *hands cookie*

Well, I just wrote this before, but then I clicked a link by accident and the whole thing deleted. So now I'm writing on word. And hopefully word won’t close or something so you will get your hello from me!

Well, before we get into the fun stuff then I’ll just give you a run-down of the rules!

1) No cht spk OR CAPS LOCK. You know that it’s rlly annyng whn ppl cnt b bothrd 2 rite prpr? OR WHEN THEY TYPE LIKE THIS AND USE AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF PUNCUATION??????!!!!!!! Yeah, we don’t like that. :D

2) The 3:1 Ratio. This means that it’s recommended that you do 3 reviews for every literary work that you post here. Reviews need to be about 250 characters (3 lines) long and should preferably be constructive for the author.

3) Rate your work. You say that it sometimes has violence? Well, if you think that it might be something that some people wouldn’t want to read then please rate it accordingly. (E for everyone, 12+, 15+ and 18+)

4) Be nice. Definitely no swearing outside of your work and no flaming other members. YWS is a community so we like to keep things nice.

5) Have fun! But that’s not hard to do.

And now, I’ll just tell you about the YWS Rainbow! Do you see that my username is blue? That means that I’m a greeter; greeters hang round the welcome forums and make sure that everyone gets a nice introduction to YWS! Purple is instructors, the best reviewers on YWS. Greens are JMs and Global Mods who basically make sure the site is running well. Orange is distinguished members: retired mods. Red is administrator. At the moment we have Mesh, our junior administrator and Nate, the webmaster. Nate created YWS!

Now, a couple of links:
chat is an awesome place to meet members of YWS/

the buddy system is a great place to get a mentor who will look after you for your first month on YWS.

And some questions!

What do you write? What do you read? What's your favourite holiday? Do you dress up for halloween? Tea or coffee? Watched any good films lately? Chocolate or sweets? What music do you listen to? What inspires you to write the most? Are you a cat person or a dog person? D'you love or hate marmite? What is your favourite word? Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing? What can't you live without? Are you looking forward to Christmas? Tell us three interesting facts about yourself!

See you around! *high fives*

Hiyas, Glory! ^-^ It's wonderful to meet you!

Welcome to YWS. I hope you're enjoying it here. :) *hands cheesecake* Why don't you snack on that while I talk?

I love to draw anime as well! ^-^ I'm not that great, but it's an amazing way to just let my feelings out at times. You'll have to post one of your pictures in the art and photography forum. ^-^

Fantasy drama is epic.

So, I have a few questions for you. ;) Hope you don't mind a short quiz.

~ What is your favorite time of day?
~ What type of food do you like to eat?
~ If you could meet anyone from the past, present, or literary world, who would you meet?
~ How did you find YWS?

And that's the quiz! :) I hope it wasn't too hard. :P

It was nice getting to know you. ^-^ If you need anything, please PM me.

I'll see you around the site!

Smiles!

Hey, Glory! Welcome to YWS, the largest literary world for young writers on the net! Cool, huh?

Anyway, I'm Selene and it's nice to meet you. ^^

Seems like Mira and Aqua got a lot of stuff covered. Care for some
tips?

~Try to get out there, go to chat, visit blogs, make friends. It helps in the long run because when you're done creating your first three reviews someone will stop on by where you posted something and think, 'Oh, I know her! I'll happily review her work!' Then you get a bunch of awesome reviews from
your friends. It goes both ways, too, because then you can review
their work and everybody's happy! :D

~Don't take harsh reviews to heart. The reviewer is truly trying to better your work, not hurt you personally. Also, if you don't want harsh reviews don't give them. Common sense.

~Try to throw in a few kind words with each review, because bits of encouragement go a long way. You may be thinking, 'Ugh, this writer's work is horrifying! How can they ever amount to anything with these spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, and random capitalizing everywhere?!' Well, you'd be surprised. I've seen young writers grow tremendously on YWS, and you can be a part of that by contributing your time and writing.

~I suggest if you're stuck on how to write a review, or just want to write a really good review for someone, check out a critique done by an Instructor. Like Aqua said, they're the ones in purple.

Okay, I think I'm going to skip on the question part seeing you have lots of things to answer from Mira and Aqua. O.O

Need a review? PM me and I'll be happy to help! :D

What is your favorite time of day? We get out of school at 3:18! Lol the best part of the week days.
What type of food do you like to eat? OoO.. sweets are good, but I love Sushi!
If you could meet anyone from the past, present, or literary world, who would you meet? Probably, uh, Asher from The Innocent Mage, Kingmaker Kingbreaker. I like him haha!
How did you find YWS? My friend had posted a Lord of the Rings story online and the link was beside it! Aha!

What do you write?Anything that lets me be creative. I don't tend to write things that happen in real life, I write to get away from it.

What do you read? Right now I'm reading The Innocent Mage, lol, good book. I can read anything except for Twilight, nothing against people who like it, I just don;t,

What's your favourite holiday? Christmas. I love the music and the cookies!

Do you dress up for halloween? Indeed I do, I was the Winter Fairy this year!

Tea or coffee? Tea, I love green tea! But hot cocoa is the best.

Watched any good films lately?Across the Universe. My goodness. I love English accents.

Chocolate or sweets? The question is impossible! Probably chocolate lol.

What music do you listen to? I live for music. I listen to anything from inspirational to hard rock. I don't like jazz, blues, or country.

What inspires you to write the most? When I need to get away from someone or something, I turn to my stories.

Are you a cat person or a dog person? I LOVE cats! Dogs scare me.

D'you love or hate marmite?I had to google that to learn what it was.

What is your favourite word?Fancy. I throw it in randomly sometimes.

Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing?Typing. I'm a faster typer, and when I'm writing by hand my words can't keep up with my thoughts.

What can't you live without? My friends. I depend on them to keep what's left of my sanity!

Are you looking forward to Christmas? Yes! My friends and I go sledding and drink hot cocoa!

Tell us three interesting facts about yourself!

1.) I'm REALLY scared of the dark because I love horror movies!

2.) I don't date. At this moment I'm not believing in love haha. DEPRESSING.

3.) I really like nutella.

Thanks again!!

Haha, awesome.

I can read anything except for Twilight, nothing against people who like it, I just don;t,

You'll find a lot of like minded people on YWS then! :D

My goodness. I love English accents.

:D *has an English accent*

I LOVE cats! Dogs scare me

Cat lovers scare me *hides*

My friends. I depend on them to keep what's left of my sanity!

*high fives*

Yes! My friends and I go sledding and drink hot cocoa!

You like your hot cocoa ;)

I'm REALLY scared of the dark because I love horror movies!

Haha, same. I watched Halloween and then ended up going to an empty farm for a couple of days. When I came back I was a zombie from lack of sleep :D

I really like nutella

Methinks that you are a chocolate person!

So, anyway, you basically sound like YWS is going to be your kind of place! The only extra advice I can give you is to never use chatspeak, take advantage of the buddy system and review a lot!

Anything else you want to know? Feel free to PM me!

Welcome to YWS Mourning! Call me JD!
You may have seen some members around the site with colors. Some blue, some purple, some green, and some even red. Let me tell you a bit more about these colors and what their usergroup is for :)
The blues are greeters, the people who usually greet newbies like you. Tell them the rules, and other basic information, making them feel welcomed. The purps jobs are to review, review, and review! Usually they are very good at critiques, and try to help members become better writers, and improve! Junior mods and Global mods are like their names. Usually in charge of a specific part of YWS. These guys are who you can count on for any basic questions. Admins are 'The Boss' in charge. Help run the site and know every nook and secret of it. Distinguished members are usually mods that left the site, or don't come on as much anymore.

If you have any questions, please do PM me, or if you just want to talk! ^_^
See ya around!
