*taps mic nervously*
Is this thing on? ^-^;

Weeeell hullo there! My name's Karen and I am 14 years old! A while ago, a friend of mine on a Christian Chat site directed me here, and several months later, here I am! So, I'm not quite sure what to expect, but this place seems quite awesome.

Some things to know:
*Ebony Rose is an old pen name of mine, which I intend to change soon, but haven't gotten around to it.
*I am a Christian.
*I LOVE writing. That would probably explain why I joined this site
*Black and Silver are my favorite colors.
*I've been homeschooled all my life and enjoy it
*I'm part Hispanic and part Slovakian, but born and raised in the good old US of A
*If you quote anything from Charlie the Unicorn, the Lazer collection or Death Note, I will love you forever.

Hmmm... that's all I can think of right now! :p
Laterz!

Hey, Karen! Welcome to YWS, a big, happy family!

I'll just quickly give you a run down on the rules before we move onto more important things. ;)

1) The 3:1 Ratio. Basically it's recommended that you do 3 reviews for every piece of work that you post. But don't worry; reviews just need to say what you liked and what could be improved. They need to be at least 3 lines long and preferably be constructive. So that means no “OMG!!! That was, like, totally amazing! Keep it up! XOXOXO”
Yeah ... none of that. :D

2) Rate your work. If it has "adult scenes", excessive violence or language then it'll need to be rated accordingly. Some people don't like to read certain things so it's considerate if you rate things that you post. (Ratings are E for everyone, 12+, 15+ and 18+)

3) No cht spk OR CAPS LOCK. This includes proper grammar, capitalization and apostrophes. So “I” instead of “i”, “can’t” instead of “cant” and “Wow, that was amazing!” instead of “WOW!!! THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!”
4) Be nice. So no flaming other members and please keep your language in your stories.

5) Have fun! (Not hard to do, I promise you!)

Ok, now it's question time!

What do you write? What do you read? What's your favourite holiday? Do you dress up for halloween? Tea or coffee? Watched any good films lately? Chocolate or sweets? What music do you listen to? What inspires you to write the most? Are you a cat person or a dog person? D'you love or hate marmite? What is your favourite word? Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing? What can't you live without? Are you looking forward to Christmas? Tell us three interesting facts about yourself!

Hmm, I think that's enough to be getting by with! If you need anything at all then feel free to PM me; I'm always happy to help!

See you around the site!

*high fives*

Concerning the rules: Sounds good! Particularly the chatspeak one. xD My "home site" doesn't have that rule and it drives me crazy sometimes. :p
Now, for the questions...

What do you write?
Fiction. Any more specification is beyond me at the moment. I suppose I'd say miscellaneous at the moment, since it involves magic but isn't exactly fantasy. *shrug*

What do you read?
Anything I can get my hands on. Once more, I'd like to be more specific, but I really can't. A few favorites: Lord of the Rings, Uglies/Pretties/Specials, A Series of Unfortunate Events, House (It's a supernatural thriller), Watership Down, Redwall, and Death Note!

What's your favourite holiday? I'm going to have to go with Christmas.

Do you dress up for halloween? My family doesn't celebrate Halloween v_v (Not my decision, of course...) but we dress up for fall festivals and whatever.

Tea or coffee? With enough sugar, both. But it has to be a craaaazy insane amount of sugar.

Watched any good films lately? Unfortunately, no. :( I'm going to watch Julie and Julia and a few hours though, so I hope that one's at least okay.

Chocolate or sweets? Both! :D I love anything sweet! ^_^

What music do you listen to? Christian music, mainly. (Skillet, Relient K, Switchfoot, Thousandfoot Krutch and stuff like that...) Occasionally, I'll listen to symphonic rock or new age music. Just no pop and such.

What inspires you to write the most? New age music (Secret Garden, in particular) or interesting lyrics. Or cold weather. I'm not sure why, it just does.

Are you a cat person or a dog person? Cat person, simply because I have two. I don't have anything against dogs though. :)

D'you love or hate marmite? I've never had marmite, although I think I know what it is. It sounds like something I'd like, but I'm not too sure.

What is your favourite word? Scintillating.

Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing? Typing, although if I'm in church and I'm really bored I'll pull out a notebook and just start writing during the middle of the sermon. ^_^

What can't you live without? My laptop! I love it so much, I call Judy and refer to it as "her".

Are you looking forward to Christmas? Absolutely! :D Last Christmas pretty much sucked because my family is really weird, but I'm hoping it will be better this year.

Tell us three interesting facts about yourself!
*I'm homeschooled because when I was in pre-k, I tried to cut a kid's throat with a plastic knife. I'm not that violent anymore! Honest! :p
*I've pretty much been involved in almost every sport type thing imaginable. Soccer, ballet, basketball, Irish Dance, swim team, horse riding... you name it!
*My favorite board game is Apples to Apples.

Now! It's your turn! :)

We play Apples to Apples in chat! Chat, by the way, is pretty cool. It's the best way to get to know some members, so be sure to check it out sometime!

Tea or coffee? With enough sugar, both. But it has to be a craaaazy insane amount of sugar.

Lulz. My friend has 10 heaped teaspoons of sugar in her tea. I have 3, which I think is personally a good amount.

What is your favourite word? Scintillating.

Nice! You know that Edward Cullen has scintillating skin? Just a heads up, you will be dragged into a debate about Twilight at some point on YWS. Well, it will either be a debate or just a plain and simple Hating session. But it will happen. Be warned.

What can't you live without? My laptop! I love it so much, I call Judy and refer to it as "her".

Mine's a guy. His name is Albert. All of my possesions are boys, and most of them have a name beginning with A. My electric guitar is called Arnold. :D

Do you dress up for halloween? My family doesn't celebrate Halloween v_v (Not my decision, of course...) but we dress up for fall festivals and whatever.

Ouch, that sucks. I wasn't around for halloween this year but I love it to pieces! (Free sweets! *glomps*

And ... you want me to answer questions? But ... but ... well ... you see ... ok. :D

Uhm ... answers:

What do you write? Words. What do you read? Books. What's your favourite holiday? National Ninja Day (Which is 5th of Dec. by the way.) Do you dress up for halloween? Heck yeah! Tea or coffee? Tea! *big up the Brits* Watched any good films lately? Not really, although I'm looking forward to a couple. Chocolate or sweets? Both. What music do you listen to? The stuff with a melody. Uhm, no really. I listen to Alternative, Punk, Rock and Electro. What inspires you to write the most? Anything, just random thoughts. Are you a cat person or a dog person? I scream whenever I see a cat. I hate the little things. *shudder* D'you love or hate marmite? Love! What is your favourite word? Shizzle or Dizzle. Or Procrastinate Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing? Typing! What can't you live without? My laptop. It pretty much has my life on it. Oh yeah ... and my family and friends. Obviously *cough* :D Are you looking forward to Christmas? Of course! I adore Christmas! I think that I'm going to London for it which should be cool. Tell us three interesting facts about yourself! 1) I'm in a band called 67 Protons. 2) I just ate a brownie. 3) I love high fives!

I'm sure that you didn't really want to know that but hey, I'm procrastinating!

See you around! Again, any questions then feel free to PM me. :elephant:

^_^ Hey EbonyRose, welcome to YWS!

To be honest, I only clicked on your welcome thread because I like the word 'ebony' for some reason. It just rolls off of your tongue nicely don't you think? Anyway, I normally don't hang around the Welcome forum, because, as you can see, I am not a Greeter!

Since Aqua dearest didn't cover the colorful names, I will. ^^ See how her name is light blue? That means it's her official job as a Greeter to lurk around the Welcome forum and assault amazing new members such as yourself with YWS welcomes and greetings.

My name is in purple, which means I'm an Instructor. Instructors are the people you can go to when you're in need of a review, because we're here to instruct (duh) and help members with their writing as much as we can. ;)

The people in light green are Jr. Mods, and those in dark green are Moderators, who, well, moderate the site and be sure everything is going smoothly.

Those members with orange names are Distinguished Members, or DMs, and they are those who used to be Moderators but retired. We still like to recognize them, however!

And, lastly, those in red: the Admins. Right now it's basically Nate (our head honcho and YWS creator, AKA God) Meshugenah, and Firestarter. Those three are the amazing people who work very hard to keep YWS running, and if you ever get around to it, shower them with adoration. =P

You can apply to be a Greeter or an Instructor after you've been on the site for two months, I think, but don't quote me on that. The other positions are appointed, and so you can't apply for them. You must be a chosen one. :P

And! I'm a Catholic, so Christians ftw!

Welcome to the site, and just drop me a line if you need anything reviewed! Enjoy yourself-- it isn't hard. ;)

Hey Karen, welcome to YWS! :D

Let's go to candy mountain and see the magical leopluradon! Haha, I love Charlie the Unicorn. :D
And I'm a Christian too!

Have you see the Groups yet? There are about a million so your bound to find some that you want to join. Don't hesitate in doing so. Everyone is really welcoming and it's a great way to make some fast friends. :D

Now on to my favorite part of these greets, the extremely hard questions.
Prepare yourself.
If you could meet any author and ask them anything you wanted for an hour, who would you meet? If you could hang out withe one band/singer for a day, who would you pick? If you were a shoe, what kind of shoe would you be? What's your baked good of choice? What is your favorite kind of pie? If you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?

I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything, feel free to PM me! :D

-Carly
