The new house her family had moved into was beautiful, one of the most gorgeous things in all of Manhattan. It wasn't any less than she deserved and she was happy. Every must be perfect. All her children were quietly inspecting it. Each child had their own room, she had a study and a master bedroom and the whole house was draped in mahogany. They had all moved in happily and it was time to get down to business. They had been invited to Mrs. Lyte's daughter's début, some of the most influential people would be there. Their first impression must be flawless. She called all of her children into her study.
"Tonight is your time to show the world who you are. Don't mess up, because first impressions are the most important. Get dressed and we'll be on our way."
Elle approached her. "Lavinia..." They never referred to her as mother, "About that deal we spoke of..."
"Ah yes Elle... come with me." Both walked into Lavinia's study, into a back room. "Put this into your bath water... it will make you seem charming and appealing..." Elle grabbed it, curtsied and ran out of the room. Lavinia smiled to herself. She had caught one in her snare, she had but 7 to go.

Their new home was rather nice. A high class sort of place so Peter was content. He didn't want to look anything less than the best.
He felt Laviana wanted to speak with him, so he relaxed on a sofa in the parlour. As he waited he daydreamed about Mrs. Lyte's daughter. More specifically, the Lyte's fortune. Most anyone who would invite the Valour's anywhere would have some sort of fortune and high rank in society. Either would be to Peter's liking.
*yeah..I'm kind of confused as to what is actually happening..so that's all I've got*
Clara ran her finger along the leather spines of a few books on the nearest bookshelf. They were obviously new, crisp, never-before-read. She couldn't wait to read them.
Clara shook herself. There would be time for such things later.
Turning around, Clara cast a glance around the parlour. She saw Peter sitting patiently on the nearest sofa.
"Waiting for something?" asked Clara, curiously.
"The grasshopper!... Mind the grasshopper!... A grasshopper not only turns, it hops!... It hops!... And it hops jolly high!" ~Erik, The Phantom of the Opera
He shrugged. "I am prepared to leave, obviously, and I feel Laviana wishes to speak with me shortly."
Clara nodded and turned back to the books.
"And you? Are you dressed to go to such an event?" Peter asked, incredulous of her appearance. How on earth would he be able to make an impression if even one member of his family appeared less than perfect.
