excited for "Where The Wild Things Are?" anyone else?!

I'm jealous. haha

I'v the read the book and, recently, saw the movie, and... (for ounce) I actually think the movie was better. I mean, seriously! The movie was totally expanded! They took a simple childhood story and turned into something so much deeper! I, too, cried at the end (and i'm a BOY), and there aren't a lot of movies that make me cry these days...
the emotions, the settings, the themes... ahh. If I could take one moment and make it my whole life, I would make it the moment of leaving the theater. I felt so inspired!
And, (another rare thing) I think the actor they picked for the boy was actually really good for Max's role! atleast, if you think of him as his own character. The boy in the book and the boy in the movie are really quite different... the Max in the movie is a lot more human, if you ask me.
Anyway, yeah, I thought the movie was incredible, and I want the soundtrack too! Everything about it was amazing!

I guess I feel so negative about the movie because the story means so much to me. It has a huge value in the family. It was the book my Grandmother used to read to me, So when it came out, my Uncle went berserk because I was his mothers favorite, and she read the book to me. So I am book all the way because it (not to sound corny) has a huge place in my heart!

Yeah, thats the other side to it. On one hand, they totally expanded and deepened the story, on the other hand... they made it a little TOO complex. Its supposed to be a children's thing, you know... something i could watch with my little sisters.
i agree about the book (heck, i made copies of all the artwork and created a collage right above my bed!) but still... the movie has a huge place in my heart too. i think because, despite the sadness, their was also a lot of blissfully happy moments that made me think so much of being a little kid. The dirt-clod fight for instance. The wild rumpus the woods. It was so... awesome!

I think the movie grasped the story well, it just didn't seem like it was in the perspective of a little kid, like it originally was. I don't know, I felt like it was hollywoooded up. haha

this was my favorite book as a child and I definitely plan on watching it...just after avatar

i LOVED that story when i was little! that is why i am not excited about the movie dont eat me the way they made the monsters scares me a bit

I think they look really good! They look like the characters from the book, just a bit less cuddly. But the movie is less cuddly than the book, so it works!

Dunno, for me, it exceded anything i'v ever seen in hollywood as far as depthe and emotion... pretty soulful stuff. Aah, i'm just wierd. Don't mind me.

Well they ARE monsters, after all.But i think they balanced their personalities pretty well...
Really, all they did was make the Wild Things more HUMAN. Thats why it scares people... XD

Yes, I think that movie just expanded on the book. For me, the book was very easy to figure out, but the movie made it more complicated. Like the whole sun dying thing. I was like 'why would this be in here? This is supposed to be a dream world for Max!'

And then how instead of the forest growing in Max's room, he runs out into some trees by some random body of water. LAME.

I guess its just a matter of preference then: the complicated version or the uncomplicated version. Personally, I loved both.
Nowadays, you really just have to look at the movies based on books as being completely different things if you want to enjoy them...

Well, really, if they wanted to be true to the book, they probably should have just made it animated. In a live action movie... that would have been diffocult to do.
