I looked back over my should to see Mikael helping the other guys. I sighed, and held his coat tighter around me. Suddenly, a thought occurred to me. I slipped off one of my gloves and put my hand to his jacket. My skin was now a worn brown leather. I smiled, inspecting my arms. I would never get tired of my power. I slipped my glove back on and changed my skin to normal before heading off to help with girls.
"Hey Fey?" Lizzie asked, striding up to me. I noticed she was playing with dew drops on her fingertips. "Yeah?" "Oh, I was just wondering why you don't have an act?" "Lizzie," I said softly. "You know I manage the circus. Besides, what could I possibly do?" "I don't know. Like a human statue or something." "No, Lizzie. We aren't street performers, we aren't fr-" "We aren't freaks," She cut in. "And we WILL not think of ourselves as anything less than performers, actors, and magicians. Yes, Fee, I know." "Then why do you bug me?" "Can I just have a hug?" She asks softly, putting her arms out. I hug her. Lizzie always knows how to make me feel better. No matter what it is, she's always there. "OK, let's go." I say, pulling away. With dismay I notice everyone has already set everything up. They are already cooking lunch. I smile at the smell of pancakes. "Come on!" I say, laughing and running towards camp.
