Daniel
He watched as Natalie stood upright, now hiding her feelings, of course better then she did in her sleep. He wouldn’t put up with her getting over confident. He would have to end it quickly, before it got out of hand.
“Natalie is your name?” He saw her nod lightly, her posture still showed confidence, it gave him the impression that he needed her, though he didn’t.
“If you think that we need you, then you’re—“
“—We don’t need you, I thought you might like a safe place… after your father.” His gaze followed to the zombie, whom was laying in chunks.
“I can take care of myself, thank you very much.” He shook his head at her reply, she really would give up the tough act. One last try.
“No you can’t, there are others, now get yourself either out the door, following us, or out the window.”
After a few more minutes of conversation, she stepped down, and did as he asked. She lead them downstairs, and towards the door. He liked using the door, but Jenna still complained about how it took longer. She ‘secretly’ liked using the door. Natalie knew she wouldn’t get along with Jenna, though she didn’t want to avoid a friendship with her.
Daniel strapped his staff to his back. They were now standing in the doorway. He turned around before it opened. He made sure that they didn’t move.
“This is how it’s going to work, you’ll follow me, and you will not speak until we are again indoors, or fighting off zombies. Understood?” Jenna nodded, almost as if she had been scolded.
“Alright, when we’re safe I’ll tell you my terms.” He shook his head. Though it wasn’t visible, Natalie for once understood he was in charge, not her.
They made their way through the streets, hiding every chance they got. There was only a few blocks to go before they reached their base. Then a swarm of zombies came walking through the streets. They had been standing in front of one of the top research facilities at the time.
“Inside there!” Daniel ran inside, before he shut the doors he made sure that both Jenna, and Natalie were safely inside. They followed without another word.
He barred the door making sure that they couldn’t get in. Jenna, and Natalie were a few minutes walk ahead of him. He caught up to them, only hearing something crash on the floor.
“Hello..?” He saw that Jenna was staring at someone, an injection in their arm. He couldn’t place the face of the person in front of him. Natalie seemed just as surprised as he.
“Where have you been bitten?” Jenna jumped backwards at his words, she was worried that she had figured out that she had been bitten. No he was speaking to the girl with the injection.
“A while ago… I don’t want to be one of those things.” He nodded. For now he could use all the help he could get to find the cure, so he decided to invite her to be a part of the group.
“Well come on, you can help us find the cure.” For the first time Jenna realized that there was an injection to stop the virus from taking her over quickly. As the others started walking away. She decided to stay and look for this injection.
“I’ll catch up, this injection could be useful in case one of us is bitten.” They nodded.
Once they were out of sight Jenna started to collect some of the needles with the injection. The girl she found laying on the floor had taken most of it, but left some in a mild panic. She injected herself with some, almost instantly feeling much better.
She had stuffed a small fanny pack full of them, and ran to catch up to the others. They were braced to fight hordes of zombies. She was herself ready, though she stayed behind the others.
