"Hello?" came the voice on the other end. It was a female one, not one she had encountered by anyone in the group.

"Who is this?" she demanded

"uh Gabrielle... Max gave me your number, although you were suppose to be male" came the voice

"oh. Well I am filling in for the determiner, I will set you up with a target, just a small one to see your skills and your worth. If you stuff up then be warned you wont be around long we can't have anyone jeopardizing this plan. I hope you know what you are getting yourself into. Understand the consequences can be dire. I will call you with the details. Lastly remember my number off by heart and delete it off your phone. Never call me again though and understand my number changes every day so if I like you then keep up."

And with that she hung up.
God she better be good although Max did give her the number and I trust her.
She sent a text off to the determiners email and immediately got a response.
Hm she thought to herself, a nobody but a testing subject. Private Investigators are crafty and harder to kill, too suspicious for their own good.

She decided she would wait a couple of hours before giving this girl the details.

Charles Havendish

The doctor shivered a little as he put the test tubes and petri dishes back on the shelves. It had been right over there that the girl with the green eyes appeared, green eyes like Jude's... Ack, get it together. You need to go home and sleep. Like Jude said, it was probably just a dream. Yes. A dream. And once you're well-rested, you'll realize that none of it could have possibly been real.

Charles took off his glasses and wiped his forehead on his sleeve as he made his way downstairs and into the parking lot. Home wasn't too far away; he'd be able to make the drive.

It wasn't long before he pulled into his driveway and found himself crawling into bed, barely pausing to kick off his shoes. Sleep was a long time coming, but he finally sank into uneasy dreams about girls with knives dropping from the ceiling.
"Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one-- the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts." --The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis

Every time I’ve gotten feedback that was hard to take it was usually hard to take because there was truth in it and I didn’t like that (or didn’t want to receive it). That’s not to say all harsh feedback is good or that we should be harsh for harshness’ sake, but learning to absorb truth without letting it break your inner core/break you is a lifelong skill that keeps your mind elastic and open to learning.
