I ask all of you out of nothing but curiosity, if given the choice of immortality would you take it?

I do... But I don't. It's confusing.

I wouldn't mind. As long as I can still die from being stupid. Or, you know.. the apocalypse.

I would choose immortality in a heartbeat. Even though I don't really need it seeing as my life is shit anyways.......but still it would be awesome. Uhm is anyone into witch craft? please save the criticism and the put downs about it for another time I'm really depressed today.

Think of everything you can accomplish in one lifetime.

Think of everything you can accomplish in a hundred. Ten hundred. A thousand.

I would live forever--immortal but not impervious.

I'm not sure.

On the one hand, I agree with Galatea... There are so many things that you could accomplish, so many things that you could make happen.

But on the other hand, there are people that lived for 20 years or less and have rocked thier worlds and the worlds of those around them, accomplishing more (in my opinion) than people who lived for a hundred years. It's all in the use of your time and your mindset.

In my case, I think that I would start to relax if I knew that I would live forever and just start to think that I had all the time in the world. And then after a few hundred years, I would look back and see all the missed moments and feel like all that time was wasted and I should have been doing so much more.

So I think... there's a reason that time is limited, that we know we're only going to live for a short amount of time: it's to give people like me a kick in the pants to get moving and change the world that we live in now instead of later.

Instead of getting older and older, I would prefer to be able to rewwind myself whenever I chose, rewinding my body but not my brain, so if I felt like being a toddler and running around the yard playing tag, I could, or if I wanted to get my senior discount at a diner, so be it!

Then there is the whole "accomplishing things" thing...I guess that would be cool.

Interesting . .. I'm fascinated by the concept of immortality, but I wouldn't take it. I couldn't watch the world as I know it die around me and change into something foreign and unrecognizable. I'd feel lost in a void, alone with no one to keep me company for long.

Sure I could accomplish things, but at what price? If people found out about my immortality they'd all be flocking to me to find out how I did it. I'd be a sideshow act. Put on display. How could I accomplish things of importance without everyone eventually realizing that I was never growing any older and didn't seem to be dying any time soon?

However Quiz, being able to rewind and fast forward . .. hmmm. I'll have to think about that one.

Think of all the cults that would form after you. XD You definitely wouldn't want that kind of attention.

Maybe I do.... Muahahahahahaha.

I will be immortal. In my ideas, mind you. But I hope/pray I don't have to live forever, because that would be bad...

Ah... I almost forgot about that side of it too... I'm praying I end up immortal too... (I tend to say everlasting life, more often)

Melodie, do you mean immortality on earth? Then, no, I wouldn't.
This has something to do with the rewind thing, but, what if you could live your life over and over and over again, retaining the knowledge from each one before? I think that would be quite interesting...

Live your first life normal, then your next life be a genius, travel the whole world the next, learn every instrument in the world, become a pirate, thief, or something exciting. The possibilities would be next to endless...
Interesting...I've thought of that. There are so many things I would like to devote my time to. Like, what would happen if I spent all my life studying only violin, or only art, or only fencing, or only piano or writing. I could develope a mastery of all of them! But if you retained the knowledge acquired before, then would you choose to pursue something else, or continue to learn more from the first? But then the world would change. Computers and technology may replace musicians, I could choose wrongly and never get the chance to be a vituoso violinist. You would still have to face the choices etc...that you would in a normal lifespan, only the time wouldn't mean as much. The idea of physical immortality and living forever is a sad fantasy. (I'm not referring to any religious beliefs. I mean...the lack of physical death)
