JONATHAN

He smiled at her. "Secret," was all he said.

Avaline rolled her eyes. "A secret?" She asked, incredulously. "Really?"

Jonathan nodded, holding back a smile. "It's no where too special, I just want it to bug you," he replied, shrugging.

Avaline pushed him a little. "Gee, thanks," she responded.

He lead her to a small, cozy sit down resturant. It wasn't too far and the food was great. He had been here once before. The thing was...they only spoke spanish here.

"Um, Jonathan?" Avaline asked, uncertanly.

Jonathan raised an eyebrow in response.

"I can't read the menu," she whispered. Jonathan feigned surprise.

"Really?" He asked. "Wow, that must suck."

Avaline gasped and shook her head. Jonathan laughed.

"Don't worry. I'm going to teach you a little spanish," he smiled. "I'm sure the waitor will get a kick out of hearing you try to speak spanish. The food's really good though."

Avaline narrowed her eyes. "It better be," she pursed her lips.

Jonathan lauged again. "I'll help you," he said, shaking his head.

They looked over the menu, while Jonthan described that the foods were. He wasn't really teaching her spanish, but she seemed to learn a little. In fact, she even knew what some of the words were in the first place.

"Nice," Jonathan admitted, impressed that she could sort of tell what one of the dishes were. The waitor came and gave them their drinks.

"¿Puedo tomar su orden?" He asked.

"He's asking for our order," Jonathan whispered. Avaline nodded and had to tell him what she wanted three times before he finally understood.

Jonathan spoke clearly and quickly, still laughing at her broken spanish. Avaline rolled her eyes.

"Just remember, I could easily take you to a frech resturant," she smiled. "I'm sure that would be interesting."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure it would," he admitted, laughing. "The only frech words I know are 'Oui,' 'Non,' and 'fait taire.'"

Avaline rolled her eyes again. "Yes, no, and shut up. I liked that last one."

Jonathan nodded. "Comes in handy, sometimes, dosen't it?" He asked.

"Sometimes people just don't get the hint, though," she teased.

"Haha," he mock laughed, just as the waitor returned with their food.

Avaline
A Spanish-spoken restaurant, Perfect. I had problems with English and now I was in a restaurant where all I could say was yes, perfect.
"So re you liking the food?" he asked me with his mocking smile still placed in his mouth.
"yeah"
"Know what? I like your accent, it's so...fluent" He said fighting a laughter that after all was to hard for him to stop.
"Jonathan, you're going to pay for this this, but so going to pay for this." I tried to sound menacing but a huge smile spread across my face.
"Oh, come on, appreciate that you're learning Spanish"
"Sure, but be aware the day of sweet vengeance will come and I'll so take you to a french restaurant"
"Oh, you should be proud" he paused, "for your nice...ly broken Spanish"
He blurted out laughing while I shove the fork into the food and played with it. He laughed hard and I eventually joined his laughter, it was too contagious.
"Next time will be my day so prepare for it 'cuz it'll definitely be fun to watch a Mexican boy in a french restaurant..." I said, I was actually starting to take more seriously this idea. It would be fun.

*okay...i think i will start next day

Iclisa

It took me a while to adapt with what had happened. Even entering school, everyone seem to look at me and stand back as if i was some kind of threat. Besides who wants to hang out with someone who stab someone at the first day of class?

"Hey, Iclisa?? how are you??" Cornelai cheerfully beconed me with Mykols by her side nudging an arm beside his elbow.
"hehe...guess what...first class is english. ANd guess what again....the teacher on the class sentenced me to detention."
there was a pause before Cornelia hit me by the abck.
"Ah...no worries, Mykolas is here to help you out."
Mykolas lowered his head and sighed.
"I know you'll say that."
John McClane: Drop it. It's the police.
Tony: You won't hurt me.
John McClane: Oh, yeah? Why not?
Tony: Because you're a policeman. There are rules for policemen.
John McClane: Yeah. That's what my captain keeps telling me

Mary

English class was terrible again, just like the day before. Mary sighed as she left the room. The teacher still hated her, and asked her every question she didn't know the answer to, but had failed at giving her a detention. Though, Iclisa had managed to get one again.

Mary's spirits were immedeatly lifted though, as she was headed towards a nearly full day of dance classes. She was about to turn down towards the dance department when she noticed Travis walking.

"Travis!" Mary yelled. He turned around and waved.

Mary ran to catch up to him. "Hey! How's it going?"

**Alright, I'll just start with school the next day as well.**

JONATHAN

He ran to class, just barly making it in time. Once again, he was almost late. Sighing, he sat down. Why did school have to start so dang early?

The class practically flew by. Too bad he didn't really know anybody. Well, besides Avaline, but he didn't have that many classes with her. They had lunch, along with Mary, and English together, which pretty much consisted of all his friends.

His math class was going to be his downfall. He loathed it. Worst of all, he didn't know anyone in the class. He turned to the guy beside him and gave a weak smile. He thought his name was...David maybe?

BETHANY

Beth was still mumbling under her breath when the teacher turned away. She got another detention. For only telling her that the facts she put up there were wrong! Dude, this was so unfair, Beth growled to herself.

Beth thought about yesterday. What was Violet and Mykolas thinking? She would never be able to talk anything out with anyone. She wasn't much of a social butterfly, anyway.

Jackie
The evening went fast and the next day I had to go to school something which i hated to death. I was never good at waking up early and back at NEw York I had to study in a really private school so I wouldn't get detentions for every time I arrived late.
My first class was Algebra II and avaline was alredy seated and saving a chaior for me.
"I'm so sorry. Over slept" I said.
"haha, don't worry. I saved a seat for you."
"So, how was last..." adn when i was about to aske her about ther dinner the teacher interrupted me. Yes, I knew what was coming and knew what I had to go through, the story of my life, I though.
"Good morning, Miss Conway." the tacher said to me
"Good morning Mrs. Jackson"
"Do you know what time is it"
"Yes, miss, very late" I said slowly as I watched Avaline fight a small laughter.
"Detention Miss Conway and I hope you learn your lesson" Great, I thought, detention.

Avaline.
The class finished and I walked with Jackie to the lunch room until she went to sit with Iclisa and Cornelia and I went to sit with JOnathan and Mary. JOnathan spend the lunch hour making fun of my broken spanish as Mary laughed too hard to even breathe. I have to admit I laughed too, there are times when making fun of yourself is better than making fun of others.
My next class was Biology and i shared it with Jackie who was still very downhearted.

"Travis!" Mary yelled.

I turned around to see her running up to me. "Hey! How's it going?" she asked

"Fine I got a job in a local cafe shop, and they tip well," I tried to sound positive but even with tips it would take forever to pay for Lily's tuition.

"I'm still trying to figure out a way to get you some money," she said.

I shook my head, " I don't want to inconvenience you," I said.

"I want to help," she said.

I gave a deep sigh then nodded. "Ok,"

"So what are you doing tonight," she asked.

"I'm working, but why don't you invite some of the others to come to the cafe tonight. There is a jukebox and a dance floor, and pretty good food."

She looked up as if thinking. "I'll see if I can come, and I'll see if anyone want to go."

"Good," I said. We parted ways and I went to my psychology class.

Mary

In between classes mary managed to spread the word to most people about going to the cafe to hang out. She at least got the word to Jonathan, Avaline, Jackie, Bethany, and maybe some others.

She skipped happily to her last class of the day, Calculus. She loathed math, but was oddly excellent at it so she was put in one of the upper level classes.

Mary sat down, after making it to class on time (making it a full day without detention). She looked around and only a few people were enrolled in the class.

Great, people are going to think I'm such a nerd.

Mary decided to try to make conversation anyways, and turned to the person next to her. "Hey, how is this class? I missed it yesterday."

She had in fact skipped Calculus the previous day, though she couldn't quite recall why at the moment.

*that can be anyone. And also, just pretend Mary invited you to the cafe if you want to go. I'm too lazy to write her asking everyone and frankly that's not very interesting. ;)

In my way to Biology, still with the voice of my teacher in my head, I found Mel.
"Hey" I said, walking up to her to greet her.
"hey" She said. "Jackie, right?"
"Yepp" Cool, people usually forgets me quiet easily. She looked like a nice girl except for the fact that she had to ask me my name. But, as nice christian that I am, I have to forgive her.
"So how's your day?" she asked me.
"Got detention. Second day of school and I have a detention"
"Come on!! It's the second not the first. At least you weren't one of the million of people who got detention yesterday"
"Yeah" we both laughed, she was such an easy person to talk to.
"Hey, are you going to the cafe later?" I asked her, but she looked at me with a confused expression "Mary is inviting almost everyone so I guess it's ok if I invite you, so what do you say"
"yeah, sure" she answered. Wow, this was really weird I had more friends here than in New York.

"Here's the form," he said giving me a list of places in the town. "These are all the places that you will work. The police will escort you just to see you are actually working."
I paused.
"I am very dissapointed, ms. Nadean. First day of school and you have made the situation like a battlefield. You are just lucky that i am not expelling you. I just ahd a talked form your guardian and we concluded to give you one more chance."
I paused and shivered. Crap, now my guardian know.
After a few more chats. I walked off the office and found out that it almost the end of school. I still have class but i could not be bothered.
I agve a yawn before i decided to walk towards to town maybe spend some food on some nearby restaurant.

Lizzifer, im bringing you in, and setting up our scene a little more. but well have to end it soon and got to the next day.

Desmond~~
I cringed internally. I was definitely talking about this way more than I wanted to, but whatever, "I went to a Military Academy until this past year. It wasn't exactly mainstream, so we saw a lot of things that shouldn't happen in normal schools. And I grew up in a bad neighborhood, lots of crime and other things."

"Oh, that sucks."

I shrugged, "I just try and forget and it seems to disappear."

He smiled slightly, the mean look on his face fading a little, "If only we were all so lucky."

I told him I had to go and started to walk back to the dorm, but his words kept playing back in my head. If only we were all so lucky. Maybe something had happened to him as well? I forced it out of my mind. I would help if he needed it, but I would NOT pry into his mind. No matter what.

I skipped up the steps to the lobby right as thunder boomed around me. The echo tore down the hallway and it seemed that the sheer obese sound of it made the lights flicker, then go out. I cursed. Just what we need.

I went blindly to the room, my instinct telling me where to go more than my brain. It was something that happened often. I couldn't do something if I tried to do it, only if it was subconscious. Within minutes I was at the door and pushing it open. The setting sun flared through the only window in the living room, providing little light. The darkness of the room covered everything but one narrow strip of twilight.

I stepped in and paused. There were sounds. Scufflings, and a scratching. My heart quickened when I knew what it was. a knife coming out of wood. I moved out of the path of the light and stood still against the wall, my dark clothes blending in perfectly with the mottled darkness. A shape moved out of the kitchen. It was short, and stood on its toes, as if trying to be quiet; and it had a knife in its hand. I held my breath and waited, counting silently in my head. At three my hands shot out. One disarmed the knife and the other pushed the figure against the wall. In less than a second the knife was against the persons throat.

*that'd be you lizzifer :)*

Shane

My arm made my whole body numb with pain. It was a familiar, and refreshing feeling, the kind that woke you up when you began to dream of a world that was not. One that was kind and good. The phone rang after while of me just staring at the ceiling, and I answered it. My mom was on the other end.

"Hey mom. So maybe boarding school wasn't the best choice after all," I joked.

"Who did this to you?" She asked, and Shane knew this was serious.

"Some girl, I don't know her name. Lisa I think though."

"Well find out, we need o make sure she isn't a threat to us."

"Mom, not everyone that hurts me is a threat. Some people are just nut cases," I told her. "If it happens again I'll care enough to find out. Till then, bye."

"Wait Shane, I need you to stop selling Antonio," She said. "He has been skimming on the pay, and the other day killed one of our delivery guys."

"Got it," I told her and hung up. Now though I had a whole new order to move. Plus I was holding onto another thing entirely for them. Considering they would probably hunt me down, it would be best to move it. So I called David to take it away. When he got there I had already taken the stuff out, and handed it to him.

"Whats with this?" he asked.

"I need you to old it for a bit," I told him plainly.

"What is it?"

"Its sugar," I said, and he looked at me seriously.

"Look Shane, I can't hold onto this," He said, basically commanding me. I've had problems with the stuff before, and only just got away from it before I came here."

"David, I need you to," I told him, begging. "If some guys ind this with me, then we lose a huge bargaining chip. This one bag is the last bit of the best, they have a buyer paying big money for it."

"How much?" David asked.

"Lets just say a lot," I told him. "And if they don't kill me when they take it, my boss, my mom's boss, will get me for it."

"Okay man, I'll do it," he said. "Just don;t get too mad if there is some missing."

_____________

David

I dumped the bag in my room, and opened it. That was when I broke. Seeing the stuff made me go back to the summer. Everything was a blur, darkness was all around me when I tried to remember, and only strong feeling of pain and grief. Vaguely I could remember the rough scratches as I snorted, and the feeling of momentary happiness, and feeling. I grabbed a pack, and tore it open, putting it into a small holder. I walked out, and sat with it at the kitchen.

I felt it rush up to my brain from me nose, a scratchy pain, and the warm tingle of blood. Adrenaline raced through my body, and I felt better than I had in such a long time.

"David, seriously," I heard, and turned to see Mel.
