He was missing 2 toes on each foot and took it out on everyone with toes. He was a very angree depressed person. That is untill he met Natilie who had no toes.

The Griffin looked him squarely in the eye and said, "No of coarse not, do I look like a fairy? I just came to tell you you are a jerk. Ta ta tootiloo," With that he left.
John gaped at the open window and sobbed.

"Stop crying you jerk!" the gryphon yelled. John continued to sob.
"Oh for the love of all that is holy," the gryphon yodelled. He slapped John across the face.
"Now give me some peanut butter," the gryphon said.
"What a horrible room," the gryphon clucked. "Peace not war? Smile, say tofu? What is this?"
"I happen to be-"
"Stupid? I'm not surprised," the gryphon cut him off again. "Where is my peanut butter?"
"Now just a minute..."
"You take that minute and get me some peanut butter. Make that a peanut butter sandwich," the gryphon said. John left the room. When he returned, the gryphon was digging through the closet, tossing his possessions around the room.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"Ah, here it is," the gryphon held it up. It was titled "Tighter Buns in 60 days."
"yeah SURE it isn't," the griffon scornfully replied.
He then sneezed twice the first sounded suspiciosly like tree hugger the second like hippy. John was more miserable than usual.
