Michael Jackson is dead

Pop star Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles, aged 50.

Paramedics were called to the singer's home around midday local time on Thursday after he stopped breathing and suffered a suspected cardiac arrest.

He was rushed by ambulance to a local medical centre, but his death was announced shortly afterwards.

I know most of the people on this site grew up in the '90s, and I'm sure they mostly regard Jackson as an amusement. But for those who grew up in the '80s (or earlier), Jackson was the king of pop. There is literally no one these days who even comes close to matching the prominence Jackson once enjoyed. Plus, he made Thriller.

Although I think Michael Jackson was off his rocker, and left a bad taste in most people's mouths, he WAS the King of Pop.
His music was pure brilliance, and he revolutionized pop and dance. A great influence on lives. I know a lot of people that were brought into loving music because of him, so he will be missed.

It's so sad. I loved his music. Heck, who didn't?

And then his life is rather sad.

I mourn him. Isn't it kind of mean of the media to make fun of him for so long, and then suddenly act as though they never did that, and that he was the greatest entertainer ever (which is true)? As though some third party has been portraying him as crazy, as though they always perceived him as simply sadly misunderstood.

Not only an innovative artist, but the first man to truly walk on the moon.

I don't regard him as an amusement. I think he was amazing.

He truly was (is?) a legend.

If only it hadn't been his death that gave him that comeback.

I was asleep when my mum jolted me up and told me the news. That time the TV was switched on to CNN, and while watching the news of MJ, I was all the way. He couldn't even make it for his last concert.

You know what's been eating at me the most? The jokes. There are jokes like "MJ's family didn't know whether to have a funeral or a tupperware party." etc etc. You can imagine the rest. Sure, I giggled when I heard the first one, but after that I was just wanting people to stop.

It just disgusts me.

I'm aware that I'll probably be the subject of multiple flames for this, but as much as I love Michael Jackson's music, I'm not convinced of his innocence.

If he was indeed innocent of the crimes of which he has been accused, he deserves all the recognition he's been getting, but if he was guilty I don't think his music, marvelous as it is, would redeem him for his crimes.

I agree with the author the article that Jackson was definitely messed up, but he never did what he was accused of.

Yeah, my mom and her friend were saying that for all he had problems, they didn't believe he did all of the things people accused him of.

Personally, I'm sad he's gone. I liked his music a lot and I think it's unfortunate that I missed out on seeing him in his prime.

I just feel so bad for him and him fam.
If he wasn't here we woundn't have many of our musicans we have today.

Hopefully his kids will be able to carry on and live their lives without having too much trouble. I'm more concerned for them than anything; I don't feel bad for the man's death at all. Life is life. We live and we die. There's no avoiding it, regardless of age. It is unfortunate that Jackson had to die so early, though, I will admit that much. But that's just how these things are.
