Narcissism

So, for as long as I can remember, I have had this innate urge to keep every sentence or drawing I've ever scribbled on a piece of notebook paper. I love them, even if it's just me practicing my signature over and over. Is that a normal part of being a writer/artist, or am I just narcissistic about my own (alleged) genius?

As a Buddhist it somewhat pains me to say this, but a bit of inflated ego never hurt the cause of art. Especially if that art is singing for a rock band.

I'd say save those scraps of paper for when you are famous, so you can sell them to rubes and laugh at them while drinking mammoth's blood from the holy grail in your ivory tower.

Haha! I practice my signature, too. All the time. Since seventh grade I've been honing the signature I'd use to sign the copies of my novel that adoring fans will be brandishing in my face at book signings...

It's more of a daydream. But it's a daydream that's produced a pretty cool signature!

I think it's normal. Unless you truly think that you're a genius, I guess. I save everything of mine, but I also recognize that a good portion of it is pure, steaming crap. So, you know.

Yeah, you're narcissistic , no I think it's fine. How could you possibly remember all of those ideas, and it's not like you can work on all those ideas at once, so writing them down is only smart. Plus writing whatever in your notebook allows you to move on to something else, because you're not so worried or anxious about that concept, or work that you didn't write down because you thought you were so genius that you could remember it all. And most genius' call themselves genius', so just take the alleged part out of it and declare it outright

I am exactly the same way! I love my signature. All those little lovingly drawn flourishes... the star scribbled over the "i"... I think we're all just a tad narcissitic. But that's okay.

I have kept every single sketchbook and drawing I have made.
They are all in a pile in a box, somewhere in the basement. Everyonce in a while, I pull them out and laugh at my own unmistakably horrible drawings. xD

I too used to practice my signature, and now it has tranformed into something unrecognizable and unmentionable. There is no way in the world that someone can forge my signature! (It changes everytime I do it. Lol)

Haha, my signature is soooo old. It has a heart over the i, though the heart has turned into more of a pig hoof.

I do the same thing as you do, but it's mostly because of paranoia. So yeah,maybe you should worry. XD
