Lately I've been hearing from a lot of users that they wish they could be on YWS more often. Whether it's because of school, work, or something else, they just can't get on YWS as much. As a result, they aren't able to review as much as they would like or participate in various discussions as much as they would like.

So in the new YWS (coming out in two-three months), I'm going to install a feature I'm dubbing "YWS auto." What "YWS auto" does is analyze all your posts, then automatically writes reviews/posts as you normally would like. This is possible because software programs have become more intelligent in years past. Just as Microsoft Word can adapt to your writing style, YWS can adapt to your style as well.

Since such a feature could easily get out of control, you have the option to approve/deny automatic posts before they appear. This way, you can log in just once a week and approve the posts that look like you wrote them yourself. By approving and denying, the software slowly learns more about you. Eventually, you won't even need to log in to approve/deny as every single generated post would be 100% accurate.

Heck, eventually, you could go inactive for months and no one would notice.

Yes, but will it write my stories?

Good question. At this time, I'm not sure whether I want to allow something like that; automatic generating of reviews is one thing, but creative work is quite another. It also gets into copyright problems. If a software program I created writes a work purported to by you, then don't I own the work? Obviously, I think we all rather avoid such issues.

I completely believed this until Sachi pointed it was in Randomness. Gah.

Another good question, and the answer is definitely yes. I see no reason why "YWS auto" couldn't write guestbook entries as well for you; reducing much of the burden of wishing someone a "Happy Birthday."

Well, let's get real. There's no copyright issue that can't be solved by a good sword duel.

(Now if only I could convince Warner Bros. of that.)

Now, can you get this to go to my classes and write my essays for me and go to work?
How am I not myself?

Can you choose to not have it write stuff for you? That creeps me out...

Someone's clearly been hard at work in their evil lab of evilness, in the cave of villainy, on the island of insanity in the sea of doom-y-ness; your plans for world domination are clearly gathering pace.

All Heil Nate!
