I used a mechanical pencil from ASDA and other assorted stumps of varying softness (alll B's). Go with Faber Castell, mine advise.

Wow... really just... wow. This picture is... amazing!
The head seems a bit flat (though that may just be me), the lips aren't quite centered, and the right eyebrow seems a tadbit awkward, but overall this piece is... AMAZING! I LOVE how you did the hair, and the eyes stand out just enough.... this is really a great picture, I LOVE your artwork.
