Nuclear Fallout- The Aftermath

It is the year 2104, around spring time.

Exactly 1 year after the large nuclear fallout that soared over the once wealthy nation of Europa.

1.8 billion people died.

Over 2 billion missing.

But there were survivors.

And in this Storybook, you will create one character, that has survived the nuclear "accident" of 2103. The character you create can be: man or woman; newborn to over 100 years old; any nationality (nations of 2104- Europa, New Asia, Kingdom of Origin and Democratic Republic of the Atlantic Stretch DRAS for short); they may have been affected by the fallout, or not- it's completely your choice.

The Storybook is set in Central Europa, once a wealthy, rich place to live, now a deserted, arid land. All of the cities and towns have been destroyed, however, in the year, survivors have set up small villages, with houses made of surviving scraps of metal and rock. The story will centre around the larger newly built "scrap" village of Fraup. However, the whole thing will not be set entirely in this village, it will also be set around the dangerous, deadly surrounding landscape, where surviving wild animals madly hunt anything, even human. Also, you may wish to create your own settlement- where your character may have visited, or heard of- however it is unlikely that the settlement will be anything more than that.

So, now the Plot. The Plot revolves around 8 main characters, who decide to form an alliance to leave Fraup and venture out into the dangerous, unknown, arid land beyond. The do this because each of them have something they wish to find out i.e want to find out if a family member has survived.

Also, there are many conspiracies among many of the survivors like; New Asia have dropped nuclear bombs down to get revenge from the war between the two nations 5 years ago; God has caused it because of all the sin.

Background

Like I say, Europa was once the richest, wealthiest, most advanced nation in the World. The people there lived, wrapped in cotton wool- they had everything they could ever want and MORE! But now, the survivors have had to learn to live without the leisure, they have had to learn how to survive and now know and respect the necessities of life.

The war 5 years ago was a 8 month war between Europa and New Asia, the war was fought in order to settle borders, they eventually agreed and that was the end of it, or maybe it wasn't...

The village of Fraup has a population of 31, including the Village leader, Peirs. Peirs is a 35 year old mechanic who is the strongest in the village, and is needed because of his mechanical skills.

The land outside of the walls of Fraup are dangerous, apart from the animals there are tribes of human who don't think twice to kill anyone wandering, be it man or child- for their possessions and sometimes for food.

8 characters, so excluding myself that's 7. And because there are only 8 main characters writers are allowed to make up simple minor characters. And, also because of the 8 characters, it will be easy to get acquainted and know the other 7 so, when writing your part, please include not all but the necessary main characters

So, here's my character,

Name: Prof Eli Travis

Gender: Male

Age: 46

Nationality: Europa

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): Find his wife and daughter.

Career before Fallout: Astrobiologist at the University of Gruul.

Existing Family: His wife and daughter not confirmed dead.

Apearance (Hair, face, physique, clothing etc): Eli has a neat, blond comb-over and wears small thin spectacles, his deep blue eyes would charm the most reluctant lady, his over-grown stubble and permanent drooping bags under his eyes give the impression of a weak, ageing, tired fool, but his behaviour says otherwise.

Personality: Eli is a witty, sharp middle aged man, who would stop at nothing until he finds his beloved wife and 4 year old daughter. He is determinded to get them back, and find them. He is extremely intelligent and he has a vast knowledge of the Universe and animals (due to his career). However, he has a strong case of insomnia and gets less and less sleep every night, and it is really showing, and damaging his health.

A Bit More Background (optional): Eli was born and then swept off to an orphanage, where he stayed until he was 16, after that he studied Biology at the prestigious University of Gruul, where he later worked. He married his wife, Julia when he was 19 and has a 4 year old daughter, Amy Jo. He is also going to be entering in his diary alot.

Nationality: Democratic Republic of the Atlantic Stretch

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): Ivy has got to get out of Fraup. There is too much fear there.

Career before Fallout: None, she was only in grade school.

Existing Family: As far as Ivy knows, she lost everyone in the fallout.

Personality: Ivy is sweet and caring. The fallout really hurt her emotionally, but she is slowly regaining her old personality, Every once in a while, she will get very depressed and remember the days before the fallout. For the most part, though, she is friendly and happy. She needs to be around people.

Name: Zack Revato

Nationality: Europa

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): He wants adventure, fun, and was bored.

Career before Fallout: He was caddy at a golf club.

Appearance: He has very short brown hair, With deep blue green eyes that have a very caring feel to them. He is tall, with long muscular arms. He looks very much like an adventurer.

Personality: Thrill seeking, he is always looking for something to get a thrill off of. He does not run from danger, but feeds off of it. When not seeking thrill he is pretty calm and joking. He is the kind of person who can get someone passed their fears.

Name: [Corporal] Dean F. Jackson

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Nationality: Wherever America used to be [DRAS?]

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): Trying to find out why the war started and in that case which side he should be on. Survival. Also hoping in vain that he'll find his lost wife.

Career before Fallout: Marine.

Existing Family: Doesn't know if they exist anymore. And, out of necessity, he stopped caring . Of all his family, he only suspects that his wife is still alive.

Appearance: (Hair, face, physique, clothing etc): 5' 11'. Brown hair and eyes. Used to be very fit, but due to the radiation and famine, he's lost much of his physical prowess. Wears whatever is durable enough to survive in. Carries an ancient Ka-Bar fighting knife and sometimes other weapons. He used to have a light-bending sniper exoskeleton, but it is defunct and will probably stay that way.

Personality: IJust think of the stereotypical old-timey John Wayne war hero type. He's a professional loyal to his country and comrades. He's calm, competent, and confident. A bit of an idealist and a wisdom-seeker. But part of him died during the war. he generally trust people and generally earns others' trust, but he can never be too careful...

A Bit More Background (optional): He was an Marine sniper stationed on a landing ship in the Mediterranean. His beautiful, blossoming young wife of three months was a European who lived with him in DRAS but was studying abroad in her native Geneva at the same time he was in the Med. That was when when the bombs started falling.

Now he does odd manual labor jobs and does bit of mechanical/construction work with Peir. He co-commands the little ragtag band of townspeople who hunt and explore the countryside and guard Fraup at night. The idealist and "poet" in him wants to help establish a future government and laws, both in Fraup and in the larger world, if there's anything left of it. But he gladly leaves the politiking to more able hands.



All you need to know: Dean Jackson is a decent man of few needs and few complaints, but inside he's growing distant, restless and exhausted. Ask him for any favor, but just don't mess with his MR-51 rail-gun.

Name: Nikolas Zhdanov

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Nationality: New Asian

Reason for leaving Fraup: Needs to find out if his twin sister is still alive, and if the rumours are true about New Asia being behind the attack.

Career before Fallout: Student at a university in Vienna

Existing family: His twin sister (Not confirmed dead)

Appearance: He's tall and broad shouldered, having been born and raised where Rusia used to be, right on the border of Europa and New Asia. He has thick black hair and pale brown eyes.

Personality: He is known around Fraup for his stubborness - once he sets his mind to a task, he keeps going until it's finished or he can no longer work on it. He doesn't like to admit he's wrong. Despite that, he's very friendly, and people find him easy to relate to. He wouldn't ask someone else to put something important of theirs on the line, unless it
meant finding his sister. More background: His mother died in a car crash when he was five, and his father and older brother were killed in the border war between New Asia and Europa. So all he had left was his twin sister, who stayed behind in Moscow, close to the new border. He has since heard that the fallout affected that area as well, and needsto know that his sister is alive.

Name: Amoria (Hit her head and can't remember her last name.)

Gender: Female

Age: 19

Nationality: Europa

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): To find her family, If she has any left, and find a village where she can start over without the depressing scene of Fraup.

Career before Fallout: Nothing. At least she can't remember anything.

Existing Family: ? Alone at the moment

Appearance (Hair, face, physique, clothing etc): The pic plus she's 5'4, has a curvy figure, wears jeans and graphic tees all the time.

Personality: Timid but bold when the situation shows itself. she often doesn't know how to speak her mind and tends to be forgotten.

A Bit More Background (optional): All she remebers really was the sound of cannon fire, the earth shaking below her feet, and a huge boulder coming out of no where, before all lights went out. It hit her hard and since then she walked for days, coming to this village of Fraup. She asumes her family thought her dead so they left. She was covered in blood when she awoke and had several broken bones. Now her memory is severely damaged.

Other: Up for love and it would be cool if one of the other characters could be her missing brother or sister or something that also doesn't remember much. Or I could just create a minor character as we go along.

So, all we need is for kittykat and mcb07 to post their character and we can begin. I'll start it once we have their posts.

But we can use this time to juggle with ideas and get used to every one's main character. So, please everyone get acquainted and if an idea or developing friendship between two main characters or anything comes to mind, post it in so we can discuss things. Remember also, that once we start minor characters may be introduced, with names or without, but they must be simple characters that don't have much to do with the plot and have little dialogue etc.

Name: Nathan Jay Rowchild (Jay for short)

Gender: Male

Age: 29

Nationality: DRAS

Reason to leave Fraup (see plot): To complete his contract that was given to him as a mercenary a year ago

Career before Fallout: Mercenary

Existing Family: none

Appearance (Hair, face, physique, clothing etc): Jay is a tall man, with lots of survival equipment and is ready for anything, he has brown eyes, the shortest hair possible, he has a goatee and a scar that runs down his face, he wears a retro motorbike helmet from the year 2010 and some leather armor from his neck down. He carries a scoped 44. caliber magnum fully loaded, but mainly uses martial arts.

Personality: Depends on his contract but generally sincere and selfish.

A Bit More Background (optional):Jay was born in the year 2075 his dad trained him to fight he own the mercenary business and Dad died in a contract in year 2099. In his contract he was hired by a rich lord of the northern states of Europa that calls himself Mr.Smith this contract was never completed due to the fallout and he ALWAYS completes his contracts. Skills include: martial arts and small guns this makes him a great asset.

How about if Dean F. Jackson and Jay don't get along because their skills and status in the group is similar but their personalities oppose one another?
