At 3:14 PM, the police arrived and taped off the park bench in New York Central park, Lying on the bench was a pale, slightly bored looking 14 year old girl. She was reading in the mid-summer sun, and no-one had really taken a look at her. If they had they might have noticed that she was a slow reader. So slow, in fact, that she was still reading the same page as she was 27 minutes before.
Sandra Reeds was dead - she was the first in the world to die of the Coliac's disease - which was discovered by four lab technicians when they examined her blood. All four of them died at exactly 4:32 the next morning. The virus is lethal, and none of them came in direct contact with Sandra's blood.
The virus is spreading... will you survive?

Hey, if this starts I'm on vacation for a week. If it does start, someone can talk to my character or whatever. I'll just follow along when I get back, thanks.

Shall we start now?

[Andre Greysmith]

Andre pushed the sheets off with such force that they flew off the bed, leaving him exposed in his nightwear. With a grunt, he shut off his alarm and swing his legs over the bed. As he opened his eyes, he noticed the pale white walls of his bedroom. He brought his right hand up to his chest, and felt for a pulse. Feeling no bumps in the skin, he relaxed
"Thank god!" he mumbled to himself - it was a miracle that he wasn't contaminated. Every single day it was a wonder that he wake up, he could see, and feel and taste and walk.
"Honey, come down for some breakfast," The voice had a certain ring to it - forced pleasure. If it was a phenomenon that Andre woke up, it was two for his mother. Every night, he would pretend that he couldn't hear, but the thin walls would let her tears seep through.
As he walked through his room, he felt the soft carpet through his toes. Is this the last time I will feel this? he wondered. Living in this world, every day could be his last.
No! Don't bring yourself down like this. You have a good immune system... you'll get through this.
breakfast was toast, burnt to a crisp because there was no good toaster in the house.
"I've been thinking, and..." She registered his reaction, half expecting him to display shock-horror and comment on the very thought. He raised an eyebrow, and met her gaze, but that was it. After many moments of silence, she blurted it out. "We should move."
He didn't register the words at first - they had been thrown around so many times in his head that they no longer had any meaning. She finally said it - we're moving It hit him like a train, ever since dad died this had been a possibility, but he never actually thought it would happen. We're moving
"Where to?"
"I don't know yet, but it will be some where far away, some where isolated, so you and I'll be safe."
"Isolation won't help mum, It spreads through air faster than a cheetah..."
"Only if blood is shed, and that'll happen less if there aren't as many people around!"
He knew what was really going on - she didn't want to be in the same house that he had lived in. The safety was just a cover up - true, but a cover up none-the-less.
"When are we leaving?" He didn't want to go - he had finally made some friends in this town, even if it was a week before It broke loose.
"Some time next month..." He let out a sigh, he could st least say goodbye now, and have some fun before things got serious.
"Maybe sooner," she finished.
Without a word, he left the table and headed for the door.
"Don't forget your ma..." He grabbed a face mask off a hook in the hallway - one of the ones that doctors wear for surgery. He only wore it to please her though, if he same into contact, then he would die, even if he wore a surgeons mask.
Grabbing his skateboard, he slammed the door and headed where the wheels took him.

Caidlene

She heard screaming in the room beside her. She jumped up and ran to the room next to her. It was her sister, Mina.

"Sissy," she said hoarsely.

"What is it Hun," I asked, forcing the tears back. She was such a pretty girl, but the rash had covered most of her body now.

"My feet...hurt," she said, pausing in-between breaths. I pulled the covers back to stare at the swollen, ugly feet.

"Oh my God," I said, covering my mouth. "Oh, no, no, no."

I ran through the house, looking for ointment or anything else that would help her. She was only six. If only it could be me going through this and not her. I pushed the tears from my eyes and walked back to her, rubbing oitment on her feet and forcing water down her throat. I would save her. I had to.

"I want mommy," she said. I stroked her hair.

"I know, I know," I replied. Ever since mom died, I had to take care of Mina, but I knew I could never replace her. Mina loved her so much.

Mina drifted off to sleep and I sat, exhausted, beside her bed. She had to get better. She was my only reason for living. If she died, so would I.

Hannah Sark

I leaned against the cool white washed wall of the hospital hallway. I was exhasuted. There had been a big outbreak in the Coliac disease lately. A lot of people had been brought in, a lot of people had already died.

"Doctor Sark." a small nurse said to me.

"Yes?" I asked. I hoped it wasn't another patient.

"Another one has been brought in." she informed me.

I sighed. Another one. "Any blood?" I asked.

"No." she said.

"Okay, show me to their room."

I reluctantly followed the nurse down the hall to another intensive care room. The patient was very far along, their eyes were already red with the blood being pumped so intensely.

"Call me another doctor." I told the nurse. I then started in on whatever we knew to do to slow it down or make the patient more comfortable. We didn't have a cure.

Caidlene

"Caidy," my sister croaked. I awoke and stood up next to her.

"What? What is it?" I asked.

"M-my stomach hurts. My feet hurts. EVERYTHING hurts!" She screamed. I allowed tears to stream down my cheeks.

"I'll make the pain go away, just stand up," I said.

"I can't," she responded. "Please don't take me there."

"You have to, this is out of my hands now," I said.

"I'll hate you forever. Don't take me there," she ordered. I smiled through my tears. There was my kid sister I know and love.

"I'm sorry," I said scooping her up in my arms. She had lost so much weight. She kicked and screamed.

"Why are you doing this to me! I just want to die in my own bed, not in that place," she cried. I almost dropped her.

"Don't say that," I responded. "Ever."

"Put me back. I'm going to die, I just know it!"

"I said don't say that!" I screeched, my horror filled voice slicing through the night.

She stopped moving and sniffed. I've never lost control like that before. I took a shaky breath and layed her in the car.

"You'll be better soon," I whispered, starting the little Mazda. "The doctors will know what to do." She nodded.

"I don't hate you. I never could, you've been like a mom to me. Except you actually care, you don't beat me. I just wanted you to know that. I've learned to except what's happening to me. I've learned to be strong from you. Just remember that," she said.

The words cut through me like a knife, and I knew right then, that no matter what happens, those words will get me through anything. They will also haunt me for the rest of my life.

[ANDRE GREYSMITH]

As the town he grew up in passed by in a blur, his fate grew on him more and more.
I'm moving. He would never see his friends again, never go to the same school, never skate in the same bowl. He would never be able to visit his fathers grave.
Of course, he wouldn't be able to do that anyway, because the government had burned it - precautions that achieved nothing. The virus was still out there, and no-one could stop it. There wasn't a drug alive that could slow it down, even. Possibilities flew through his mind and he searched them all, but there was nothing that could cure it. You're only a kid, stop worrying about it! he told himself sternly.
There was nothing he could do, and he knew it. The only way he could help now would be to wear his mask and stop anyone shedding blood.
The news was onto it though, they had already told everyone to go to the hospital if they saw any blood, but no-one really went, and the ones that did couldn't be tested. The doctors couldn't handle their blood, so there was no point in going.
Before he knew it, he was at his friends house, Anthony. He wasn't doing anything this weekend, so he should be in.
He knocked on the door, and only then did he notice that the car was gone. Panic flooded through him - was his friend dead? Had they taken him to the hospital, even though there was no cure? No. It wasn't possible. He had seen Anthony only 18 hours before, at school. I wasn't possible, the virus couldn't take his best friend - just as it had his dad.
Just then, when he was a bout to give up, the car pulled in, and Andre sighed in relief. Anthony hopped out of the car, and stated walking to the door.
Checking his face for any signs of illness - pale skin, or a slight discomfort in the way he walked due to the rash on his chest - Andre greeted him. "You wanna go down to the park?" He fought hard to keep his voice casual, but that was hard because of the surgeons mask. There wasn't any point in wearing it, even though it was government advice. He pulled it down and let it hang around his neck.
"Yeah, sure. Meet you there in half? I gotta have some breakfast first"
Andre skated off, still recovering from the panic attack he just had. His friend was safe every thing was fine.
He was still moving

"Doctor, you're requested in the extensive care room number 1334" A nurse notified.

"But i've..." I tried to start explaining that i was wanted into the operating room.

"Now!" the Nurse repeated again and walked off.

I sighed and then walked in the direction of the elevator, touching my chest as a reflex, just to be sure. No bumps, safe for now. I exited the elevator and found myself in the Extensive Care unit.

I walked down the hall reading the numbers of the rooms as i went, The hospital still has rooms to spare, but for how long? The mortuary was already half full, no one dared touch the bodies let along destroy them by burning or some other method. The virus was still spreading, people did not know of it yet, not until the media unravels the story at least. The moment people start panicking the virus would spread more faster than before. We knew it and we were trying our best to stop it.

The air was warm, there were no AC's in this ward and the doors were air tight. The whole floor was evacuated and updated so that the only way we could enter was from two 'Doctors only' lifts. The moment I entered the unit i could hear screams of pain being muffled by someone else. I shuddered as i entered room 1334.

*I hope this post is okay. Any objections?*
