Never read it, but have been meaning to for over a year now. I have a fuzzy idea as to the plot, and no idea as to the title or author. Help would be brilliant and much appreciated.
It's one of those books like Brave New World and 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, set in the future and not so pretty (though BNW could be debated, seeing as everyone's happy and high all the time, and anyone who thinks differently gets sent to an island with a bunch of other out-of-the-box-thinkers to live out their lives in peace). In this book, you've got the rich people living in a heaven on earth, basking in the sun, eating grapes, la-di-da. Then you've got the others, the poor, who live underground and slave away to give the happy people the lifestyle they so enjoy. It's my understanding that humanity has more or less split and evolved into two different groups by this point. At night, the dark people come up and snag a couple light people for food, and then they go back down to continue working and slaving away.
So... what's it called?
