I just thought it would really help the brilliant *bows to NATE* people who run this site to know what we would like to see added on, or what we don't like now. It would be helpful, eh, eh?

So, what do I dislike:
Nothing actually.

I would like to see added:
A chatroom
A special forum just for films
A forum to advertise your work- because no-one has looked at my sci-fi story and it's driving me freaking crazy!!
A real life forum for story categories

Add on if you like and hopefully the mods will read it:

There is already a chatroom.

The chatroom doesn't work.

But if you want people to crit your work, all you have to do is send a private message and ask. You also just need to give it time. People have read it, or at least looked at it, but not everyone is going to post a crit.
Please, sit down before you fall down.

I think a forum to advertise work would be a good way for people to get attention for their story. I was thinking about doing just that for a storybook of mine (which still hasn't been posted in).

I like that idea. Also a cool idea might be a forum for people just to throw around ideas or brainstorms and people can help each other flush them out and whatnot, and if person a doesnt like the idea, person b can take it and run wiht it, yanno?

Hm, I like that idea, Dan/Griffinkeeper.
Also, in addition to having a special forum for film, a music discussion forum would be nice as well. ^_^
i thought you were shallow, but then i fell in deep.

films? like watching or making movies? I believe there is a usergroup for movies. Also, if you want to discuss music, (short of creating/joining a music forum) I'd start advertising a music usergroup (under usergroups, of course).

however nice a forum for work ads migh be, I think it would end up a mess. any ideas on how to make it work, and work well? (and by mess I mean huge amounts of topics and still little critiquing, due to copious amounts of writers requesting attention. we're back where we started, with another forum). Right now, PMs work the best..PMing one or two of the members of either SPEW or the Suprise Rewiews usergroups would be a good bet.

Maybe the advertising forum would work if you made a rule that you couldn't advertise something until you reviewed at least one other thing on the forum already.

I agree with the music usergroup idea. However, I think someone who's not as much of a musical hermit as I am should run it.

I was thinking about that.. there's so many different ways to use a music usergroup, though. there's us band geeks, to rock. so.. it'd either be specifically devoted to one of those (like, just music that would be on billboard type music, or musicians).. or all inclusive. any takers?

also, one crit per advertisement. so, you can't just crit one piece and then advertise three. that could work..

Or just a board for all music...I don't listen to radio, but I'm in band and I'm a punk rock geek. XD

That would so work. And it would get a lot more posts and not die as quickly as an all-inclusive thingamabob.

I'm brilliant...? Gazza must be new ;)

I'll address these in order...

The Chatroom: It sucks and I know it. Plus, it doesn't work so that makes it stink even more. But I'm looking into alternatives and hopefully I'll find something soon. I actually did find something really nice; it's a flash chatroom and you can actually see how many people are in the chatroom before you even log in. But it keeps on changing your name to stuff like nate89 or nate365325635213572153215. Maybe I'll just go ahead and put it in anyway until I find something better (it's already installed so it'd take me two seconds). In fact, I will do that.

Forum for Films: Right now, the Entertainment forum is covering this pretty well so far. If the forum grows, then I'll add subcategories to it.

Advertise Your Work: The best way to do this is just to PM members. For instance, I very rarely critique any work, but if somebody asks me too, I'll critique theirs (usually at least two and sometimes up to 10) within a day. But a forum to advertise is a good idea. What I could do is make it cost points to advertise in the forum; that way not everyone would be rushing to advertise.

Forum For Story Categories: That's just the Fiction Category under the Literary Forum Index. Someday I may split up Poems and Fiction, but then that makes the top of the page (where the main links are) look ugly.

Anyways, thanks Gazza :D

I'll go ahead and fix up the chatroom now...

that would be nice, i think one of the subcatigories somewhere should be humor so that instead of looking all over the place for something funny it is just there.

or does that already exist?
