Just thought I'd draw your attention to the fact we have over one hundred members now! Woohoo!

A Toast to the YWS! And Nate! :xmas_wink:

I'm quite pleased.

On another related note, YWS is a month old today (started on November 14th at 7 pm). It's great to have a website grow so fast and to have a very active membership! Of course, I thank everyone for making this website a success :xmas_happy:

I gotta go before I get teary eyed

102 now and counting
That love is suffering is easy to see, for before the love becomes equally balanced on both sides there is no torment greater, since the lover is always in fear that his love may not gain its desire and that he is wasting his efforts.

103...ah...I am about to get teary-eyed...

But the only thing bad about these members is that about only 20 of them are active at least once every 3 days, and only about 40 every week. I wonder why...I mean, we have at least 30 people with 0 posts! We need order, people! The memberlist is going to get all cluttered up...grr...

It's the same with a lot of websites. Writing.com, for instance, has about 300,000 members but only about 800,000 literary items. Active members probably have about an average of around 5 items (maximum number allowed under free registration), so that leaves 140,000 inactive members; that's nearly 50%. Another writing site like this one, Young Writers Guild, has about 450 members, but go through the memberlist and you'll find the majority of members have 0 posts.

Once I start sending out mass e-mails, we might get back a lot of those members who registered but never posted anything. But I'm not concerned about it. The members here are actually a lot more active than most writing sites (if not all!) and the average post count per day continues to go up. In the beginning of December, it was at 120. Now it's at 150, and sharply growing thanks to Kingdom of Evandor. There was even one day over the past weekend when over 200 posts were made.

Besides, just wait until I'm finished with the new site. If I do it right, which I will, YWS will attract a lot more active users (while appearing to be quite small). I'm experimenting with different designs for the moment, and experiencing some technical difficulties thanks to the ineptitude of the hosting service, but it should be done in January (my goal is by January 15). We'll still have this forum, but there'll be a lot more to go with it.

Seems like a good plan. I hope we do get every member to have at least 2 posts or so....

There's been over 4000 posts too, and we're at 113 members!

This board has grown up so fast *wipes tear from eye*

Wanna put money on when we reach 5000? I'll put down 500 US dollars, which of course equals two pence.

I'm gonna bet YWS reaches 5000 on December 29th.

Haha, in another post you said USA rules at everything except time, better make that currency too, eh?

I'll say the 1st of January, 2005. To be all nice and neat.

Wow... it's kind of weird reading this thread again. 4000 posts seems like a trifle to me now since we're now nearing 14,000 and will probably hit 20,000 either late February or early March.

Anyways... 202 members and counting!

That's pretty class.

We're getting popular, heh.
